10 Customer Reviews

  • "The Granary offers good value relative to costs (a week for £500 in the second week of September) but is a little tired and not ideally suited to older people or families with very young children as the two bedrooms are upstairs while the single family shower room/toilet downstairs is accessed by steep and very creaky stairs."

The induction hob was cracked across one corner, with no immediate replacement in prospect, accompanied by a warning notice to take care to avoid sharp edges along the length of the crack when cleaning. The TV is quite small and out-of-date requiring us to order a next day delivery plug-in Firestick from Amazon so that we could stream Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube, ITV X, BBC iPlayer and other streaming services. Both the damaged induction hob, and the TV, should be replaced as a matter of urgency/priority. The mattresses on the beds were thin and lumpy, okay for young families maybe, but not for older people with aches and pains. No torch was provided but one is needed to safely navigate the car park which is reached along the stone-flagged garden pathway and steeply sloped driveway some distance from the property (a large pampas grass overhanging the very narrow sharply curved driveway needs trimming back to avoid brushing door mirrors and bodywork). The car park itself was not lit in an area of dark skies without street lighting apart from one or two bollard lights on the driveway. The property, which is reached via a narrow and and in wet weather very puddled and muddy lane with no passing places off the main B3314 Wadebridge to Delabole road, is not easy to find with SatNav postcode directions falling well short of the Tregwarmond Mill development of which The Granary is part. What3Words is recommended, but not included with the property directions, unless very familiar with this location which is situated in isolated country about 3 miles from Rock. It would be particularly difficult to find at night, especially in poor weather conditions.

Thank you for your feedback. We agree it is extremely good value! The property is full of character and the location in this part of Cornwall is typically surrounded by lanes which become muddy at times. Along with the nil light pollution - this can be considered as part of the appeal by other guests, however, we understand that the cottage and location may not be suitable for your own requirements which can be difficult to find in this part of the county, therefore it is worth having a chat with us before you book - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "This is a really lovely cottage - in many ways the photos don't do it justice."

The downstairs is spacious enough, and the 3 kids actually loved being in one room together. The patio was big enough to enjoy some meals out together, and the rural setting is idyllic. There was a super helpful guide to local beaches in the property - suggestion would be to add something on local dog walks, as we didn't see any footpaths despite the lovely countryside setting.

We are delighted to hear that you loved The Granary and it exceeded your expectations. Thank you for being such great guests and sharing a lovely review of your stay. If not already aware, Visit Cornwall is usually a good reference for information on footpaths etc. We hope you will visit us again anytime in the future - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "Nice pretty garden and cottage, and the owners have tried really hard to make it welcoming."

... shame about the inconsiderate neighbours. The people in Hayloft played football with their children against the bedroom wall upstairs at 6.45am for 3 mornings and the nightmare family opposite behind the tall lelandii hedge screamed and shouted and played loud music until past midnight so we didn't sleep well or relax much. Maybe it's quieter during term time? The bathroom needs urgent attention, under the paint the wood around the bath and pipe boxing is rotten and stained. We were picking small fungi off the skirting board by the toilet. Needs a decent king size double bed, and one of the single mattresses needs replacing. Oven is complicated to operate and we only found the manual by accident, some one had hidden it behind a saucepan! The site manager needs to paint the yellow car park spaces again so 4 cars can get onto the concrete in wet weather please.

I am sorry that your stay was spoiled by some noisy guests at the neighbouring properties over the August Bank holiday. The cottages at Tregwarmond Mill are normally praised for providing a very peaceful environment for guests. Thank you for your helpful feedback and in particular for pointing out the staining in the bathroom. We have taken immediate action to check this out and found a small leak had developed in a pipe close to the toilet which has now been repaired. The skirting board has been replaced and all paintwork made good. We have also displayed clear instructions to operate the oven close to the appliance for the convenience of our guests. • "Charming cottage with well kept grounds."

Linens very clean. Oven not working, so meal preparation limited. Most things pulled out of cabinets had to be cleaned before using: wine glasses, cutlery and pans. Sat nav sent us into caravan park. No recycling bins, which is shocking after the Cop 26 was held there this year. called head office.

Thank you for taking your time to provide us with your feedback. I am very sorry that you were unable to get the oven working. The oven was new in 2021 and the operation of the knobs can be a little complex. We will leave instructions in a more visible place for future guests. We will also ensure that our guests are given better instructions to find The Granary as we are aware that the postcode does not give the exact location. We wish to assure all of our guests that waste from Tregwarmond Mill is recycled at the depot by Biffa Collection Services. We have been told that only 4% of the waste from Tregwarmond Mill went to landfill in 2021. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautiful and really well laid out."

The facilities were great and we couldn't fault the cottage for comfort, space upstairs and privacy. The courtyard garden was really convenient for drying wet suits and sitting out in the evening. Our main problem was the head height of the doors - 2 tall family members bumped their heads a few times coming in and out and the compactness of the kitchen/table area & bathroom - again a tallish family of 5 made it a squeeze to eat together or shower/use the loo without a struggle The only improvement we could see was that the cottage could do with a deep clean - areas behind the TV/lights/beds were very dusty and cobwebbed. Overall we had a lovely stay thank you

  • "The cottage was in a reasonable location, but we were familiar with the the area before arriving so that was fine."

The draws in the kitchen were falling apart and that area needs a complete refurb before someone gets accidentally hurt on a falling draw. The directions to the place need to be clearer. Even when we rang, the person on the phone wasn’t completely sure. But otherwise it was fine for our needs, nothing plush, but at that price we would definitely consider coming back next year.

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with the drawers in the kitchen and we will look into this as a priority. We have taken on board your feedback about directions to the house and we have now updated these. It’s great to hear you would consider coming back next year! Property Owner

  • "Overall The Granary is a well equipped property in quiet surroundings with a good location for many beaches and coastal walks."

The postcode provided does not take you to the property or even that near to it so better directions would be helpful. The house smelt very damp when we first arrived but there were no actual signs of damp and the smell lessened considerably over the first day or so - perhaps better airing would help this. The beds were comfortable with good linen and towels provided. Parking was easy. We didn’t realise from The Granary advert when booking that there were other cottages around it as this is not shown - we thought it was just attached to one other property with nothing else near. We enjoyed our stay here - it was comfortable and has a lovely enclosed patio with seating at the back.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. We have now updated the directions to ensure that it is straightforward for our guests to find The Granary. We are sorry that the property smelt damp on the arrival of guests when the previous week had been unusually wet and cold for July. The property is regularly checked for any signs of damp and appropriate work has been carried out over the years to ensure the cottage remains damp free. Property Owner
