  • "It would have been of great benefit to have had a pack, with a list of instructions for the use of the t."

    V. and heating and local information such as doctor etc. The owner had to be telephoned several times on these matters. There was no central heating at the start of our stay, and finally we had to ask for the system to be looked at.This was done but left us with no way of adjustment. So we felt cold when we came back after a day out. We did assume [but wrongly] that there would be a lavatory in the en suite. This meant going up or down a flight of stairs to use this facility - not a good idea for old or very young children. There were beds enough for 6, but 6 in the house would have been a nightmare. The shower needs attention. It dripped constantly, and the tray was cracked and taped over. Not up to muster. We chose not to use it. With guests in the house it was difficult. The dishwasher had no salt and none was provided. The blinds at the windows need urgent attention. Now to outside. The bushes are very overgrown around the front door area thus making it gloomy and access to the key box a bit of a challenge, The side parking was inhibited by over grown greenery, and the back gate was not secure. The' home from home 'experience was NOT 'home from home' for us and we left 24 hours early.

Thank you for taking time to leave this feedback. We are sorry that you encountered a few issues and understand that the owner was on hand to help with this. We include multiple photographs on the property listings so that you can see a true representation before booking. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Washing machine old and door catch broken (unusable)."

No instructions on how to use bath with loose shower attachment/how to fill bath. 3 adults & 3 children had to use ensuite shower, also no blinds on window in ensuite shower area. Some utensils missing: bread knife; egg cups etc Some cups appeared old and well used. Would not use this holiday cottage again as these problems let the experience down.

  • "The property and parking were very easy to find and there were numerous instructions to help."

The house was perfect for a weekend stay with a pretty spacious kitchen and living area. Aldi is only 5 mins walk away. This is a great spot for exploring the Cotswolds. I think this may also be the only 6 bed house in the area. Sally was great and was even very understanding about us having smashed a couple of glasses. She very kindly provided crisps and a bottle of wine and also towels and soaps throughout the house. Great weekend.

A large hallway welcomes you on arrival, the perfect space to store your coats and muddy boots, before entering through the property, past the handy cloakroom and into the well-equipped kitchen/diner which contains all the facilities you require to cook up delicious meals and gather with your guests around the breakfast table that seats four or perhaps take the conversation outside to catch the last of the sunshine, through the French doors in the kitchen/diner and out into the enclosed garden that houses a table with seating for six on the patio area and a barbecue you can make use of, as well as a lawned area adjacent to this.

Spend your evenings in the first-floor living/dining room with its inviting sofa’s so you can curl up with your loved ones into the evening and watch a great film on the flatscreen TV that has a home cinema system and DVD player.

When night falls, you have a choice of three homely bedrooms; the double room sits adjacent to the living/dining room on the first floor and the other two bedrooms are accessed by taking a staircase up to the second floor where you will find a twin room and a king-size room with an en-suite shower room, as well as the shared bathroom containing a bath.

Once you’ve had your well-earned rest and got ready for the day, head out into the market town of Chipping Norton, where you can enjoy some breakfast at The Old Mill Coffee House & Bistro, before catching a show at The Chipping Norton Theatre or meandering around the market square where you may be lucky to catch the farmers’ market if you’re visiting on the third Saturday that occurs of each month, and finishing your day with a heart-warming meal at The Chequers pub.

A short car journey will bring you to nearby Chadlington, where you can visit Diddly Squat Farm and indulge in delicious hamburgers, cool draft beers, lagers, ciders and rosé, and also the interesting cow juice.

You are centred around wonderful walking and cycling routes so why not head to Kingham to discover the lovely village green and marvel at the surrounding Evenlode Valley, before taking the walk back to Chipping Norton which is known as ‘AONB walk 6’ and is around 6 miles on the short route and 9 miles on the long route, taking you through Adlestrop, Chastleton and Cornwell.

On your way through pretty Chastleton, make sure to visit the well-known Chastleton House which is a splendid Grade l listed Jacobean manor built in the early 1600s.
