  • "Perfect cottage and perfect location."

We had a good delivery from Sainsbury’s and so didn’t use the car all week. There are numerous amazing walks from there with our collie. The cottage was spacious, well equipped and warm and comfortable. Will definitely return.

  • "Lovely cottage in a complex."

No problems with the property. Unfortunately a bit isolated down very narrow lanes with nothing in the village. Fine if you are just a walker, hiker or want only a beach holiday in the short trip to B-on-Sea, even that is slightly restricted as no beach at high tide, but otherwise it is a car journey to anywhere of interest, to shop or find a pub/restaurant. Should have done more research of the exact location before booking

Our dog loved the woody grass area available for her, ideal for a ball game. In early May, Bigbury Court was very quiet. We loved the beach and the sea tractor, 2 miles away but you do need to be aware of tide times. Information provided in the cottage.

  • "Goodies on arrival very welcome so thank you."

However cottage quite cold as heating may not have been on for a while? Took about three days to warm through. I would have appreciated the handbook for new CH controls as new digital box on landing could be confusing. Nice and clean and well equipped kitchen. However I have been here before and there has always been a contact number for the couple who look after the property but not this year. Consequently only helpline was Coast and Country whose number did not work when I tried during work hours. Not reassuring so needs to be acted on. Very disappointed that the ceiling over the lounge window leaked yet again when rain heavy, exactly as same time last year although not so bad. Owner was informed by C and C and their response was that it had happened before and needed major work to correct. Exactly what I was told last year but clearly this had not been done. (Once again the owners were out of the country). This is unfair on guests, some of whom who return in good faith that the property has been repaired and will be properly maintained. I would advise any new potential guests in winter to check with C and C that the roof work needed has been carried out. I would like to return if this is attended to. Thank you.

  • "We loved this cottage!"

Looked tiny from outside but inside spacious and comfy. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we have found, as we have learned over the years to always take a sharp knife which this time stayed in its bag. The view of the sea from the bedroom was gorgeous, as was the big comfy bed. A tiny thing - maybe a little gate so that you can let dogs out in the garden for a late night pee? However 2 garden chairs across the gap did the job. No longer a pub in the village which is a shame but thank you to Ash at the Pickwick which became our local - we made use of the roaring fire every day! Please be aware if you stay out of season - there are no paths or street lighting, take care if walking in the village - but loads of public footpaths around for dog walking. Lastly - best food of the week at the Oyster Shack and beautiful ancient Journeys End pub at Ringmore - again take care walking down from the car park in the dark! Thank you again for a great stay x

Fully equipped kitchen (including a potato masher now!) and spacious lounge/diner - two new sofas were very comfortable. Upstairs the two bedrooms were also spacious and the beds were comfy (although the twin single bed mattresses were a bit 'springy' and noisy). Nice duvets and pillows. Bathroom was good with very good shower in the bath. Towels provided and plenty of cleaning products available. Good location near to Burgh Island beach. We visited Plymouth, Paignton, Dartmouth and Dartmoor. All easily accessible - just be aware of some narrow country lanes. Really would recommend this holiday cottage if you want somewhere peaceful. My grading relates to the practices of the holiday companies. Enjoyed the new sofas, lamp and security light. Lovely and clean as always and my favourite biscuits! Slept well as so quiet. Look forward to coming back again. However holiday was affected by bad leak in lounge onto window sill. Arrived to problem which had been noted by turn-round team who reported it to Coast and Country as well as Sykes. I was regularly needing to empty pans and replace / dry out towels. Ceiling badly stained and starting to sag slightly at the wall as problem worsened. Leaves removed from gutter at the end of the week but this had no effect. What surprised and disappointed me was that I had no contact whatsoever from C and C or Sykes all week. No apology. No asking if I minded having to deal with the issue as I did not actually sign up for this as part of a holiday. Nothing. Hopefully the next Sykes guests will be treated with more consideration and courtesy.

It was clean, warm and comfortable and there was plenty of space and it appears to have been recently decorated. The other reviews don’t do justice to the views from the living room and back bedroom which look out over the sea - the sun sets were amazing. The place was conveniently located to get to Bigbury on Sea and other locations and although there were a lot of narrow roads in the area, there are plenty of passing places and some of the most courteous driving I’ve ever encountered so that was not a problem for us. A couple of details let the cottage down - no light bulbs in some lamps for example - we found spare bulbs in a cupboard but the cleaner should have done that for us. There were a couple of issues that need looking at - for example the lounge curtain rail was coming away from the wall - but these were relatively minor thinks and probably on the winter to do list. Our dog loved the grass area and because it was quiet had the run of the place - in high season with more people in residence the lack of a gate on the garden area could have been a pain - however if looking for an out of season, reasonably priced, comfortable and conveniently situated cottage - Honeysuckle Cottage is a good choice and I’d certainly visit again.

Ideally I would have liked the manuals for main equipment as boiler setting could have been set to come on earlier than 07.00 as I was getting up to a cold cottage.
