  • "An excellent property."

Extremely well maintained and meticulously clean. All facilities as described. The only thing which could have been improved would be to have some kind of privacy plastic/semi transparent adhesive plastic applied to the downstairs toilet window so that anyone in the other 2 properties doesn’t get an unwelcome view!! At present, if you use the toilet, you need to pull the blind down. A minor criticism.

  • "The studio has been renovated beautifully, and so there is so much space."

The welcome pack was such a treat when we arrived. The only thing I can think of to improve the holiday was to have a pair of oven gloves. Otherwise very well equipped.

The Water Tower Studio is ideally situated to visit places in Devon and Dorset. The property worked really well for our family. The garden is was a great added bonus. We would highly recommend the property.

The sky lights in the bedrooms are in need of a very good clean I do have a photo when you open them for air they are filthy on the inside. Easy thing to fix. Apart from that lovely.

  • "The Water Tower Studio is ideally situated to explore East Devon amd Dorset."

We had a lovely stay here and the water tower is a super feature that makes this property a little different. The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only complaint would be the smell of damp, especially upstairs in the smaller bedroom. Probably more of a concern for me as a parent to an asthmatic child, and upon investigation while looking for extra blankets we did find there is black mould within the cupboards in the roof space. We countered this by opening windows lots as the weather was mainly dry. It was great to have a washing machine and dryer to use and not come back with all the washing. The garden is also a lovely space where the children could run around.

  • "Lovely property, really spacious with comfortable furniture and no traffic noise despite being close to a road."

Close to the town centre which is within walking distance (although it's uphill all the way back :) and there are walks from the doorstep. I did part of the coast path which took in coast and woodland and I also visited the Donkey Sanctuary, which is free parking and entry and has a great cafe. I was only there for 2 full days so no time to do anything else. My only negative was that there was a strong smell of mould in the bathroom which I bought an airfreshener to mask. I did mention this in the visitor book so hopefully it will be addressed.

Thank you for your kind comments about the property; it's lovely to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We will pass on the comment about the bathroom to the housekeeper. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Filthy. Obviously had not been cleaned for a long time, cobwebs were too thick."

Both ovens were disgusting, dog hair was around the dining area and thick black hair was in the shower. Old bedding and towels were left and nothing clean was left for us.

We were sorry to hear that the property hadn't been prepared in time for your arrival, but we did organise for a housekeeper to attend ASAP. There had been an admin oversight which meant we weren't notified that there had been a departure. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

Great facilities throughout. Comfy beds and comfy sofa. Every kitchen item you could need. Always great to have a dishwasher. As stated in the listing the garden isn't secure but there is a great dog walk 5 mins walk away where you can happily let dogs off for a run. Would definitely book again.

  • "Accommodation is clean, spacious and welcoming."

Drawbacks are only one bathroom/loo, its location downstairs, and the fact that one bedroom can only be accessed from the other but we knew all that in advance and it was OK for us but may be issues for others. Main irritant was number of e mails from Sykes cottages asking for review shortly after we arrived and telling us repeatedly to leave the place just as clean we found it and even when to run the dishwasher.

Huge garden so especially good for children and a dog. The owner was friendly and understanding when we had a few issues with our dog being unsettled as in a new environment. Would definitely recommend this property, only a 5 min drive to Beer beach and seaton. Have had such a lovely week thankyou, the kids really didn't want to go home!

  • "This was an excellent property in a great location for travelling around Devon and Dorset."

We wished we could have stayed longer. It’s worth raising awareness that to get to the stairs / bathroom from the twin room you walk through the double room. No problem for families but a little cosy if staying as 2 couples! Our only criticism would be the lack of secure garden for the dog (we kept him on an extendable lead) and no bbq - this could be easily solved. More guidance for the recycling would also be helpful. We would love to stay again!
