  • "Cottage was superb as usual (we have stayed in it several times)."

Just one gripe: the under cabinet led lights in the kitchen (essential in a room with little natural light) did not work. We phoned to report the issue (which was difficult as the option to report such things was hidden under the option for accommodation owners, which we aren't) and was assured that someone would come out. They didnt so we called again and someone phoned back to assure us that someone would be out to fix the issue. Nobody came. Pre-merger with Sykes it was relatively easy to contact someone and report maintenance issues and someone would come out right away. Post- the Sykes merger - it feels like this side of things has been overlooked. If you promise that someone will come out - then they should. We might have waited in the cottage until someone came! Either that or just be honest: "Under cabinet lights are a bit low on our agenda right now so its unlikely we'll even tell Mr or Mrs Fixit this week, but thanks for letting us know". Hopefully the new owner of Appletree Cottage will fix them though, and perhaps give the lovely garden a bit of a trim as its looking a bit overgrown! Lastly the lounge smelled of dogs which is probably nice for dog owners but not for us! Otherwise a great relaxing stay in a lovely cottage.

Great location and really helpful to have the parking.

  • "We've stayed at this lovely cottage for many years and love it's convenient position in Lyme, and the fact we can take our beloved dog."

The only downside is the lack of garden maintenance. For the last 3 years we have pointed out that the top part of the garden is a very unkempt, a top seating area is now unusable & covered in weeds - to the extent I had to buy some pruning shears and get rid of brambles which were very unpleasant. That aside it really is a lovely cottage and makes a comfortable base in Lyme.

  • "Beautiful garden but is very overgrown and needs some tlc."

We like to sit out in nice weather but the overgrowth makes the garden too shady and "dark"..

  • "The house was ideally located and provided us with what we needed for our enjoyable holiday in Lyme Regis."

We couldn't lock the patio doors; this wasn't a big problem because there is a locked gate and the doors to the conservatory could be bolted, but this might be more of a concern for someone more worried about security. The garden is a bit overgrown, although that did not affect us much because the weather wasn't really suitable for sitting out; it would be more of an issue in the summer.

  • "Brilliant house and location, the garden needed attention so i spent a couple hours weeding, sweeping and prunning and then it looked great!"

Thank you for attending to the garden during your stay. The owner has a garden to attend on a regular basis. We hope you enjoyed your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Hi we really enjoyed our stay at Appletree cottage and loved the location."

My only negative feedback would be that the barrier for the parking space is old and rusty and could do with replacing. Other than that it was great.

  • "The cottage is really lovely."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location is fantastic and secure parking a real bonus. Very well equipped and comfortable cottage. Cosy but enough space for a couple plus dog. Some minor points of feedback: The exterior of the property could do with some tlc. A couple of steps in the back garden were loose. The garden was a little less dog friendly than expected - we thought the top section was grass but was gravel with bulbs growing through. The conservatory/extension roof looks like it needs repair. All in all, would definitely book this property again!

  • "This is a delightful cottage!"

Such a fabulous location, easy to get to the beaches, shops, walks etc. The lane it’s on is so unique. Beautiful garden to enjoy the sunshine! Great facilities and decorated beautifully. Super cosy on a rainy afternoon! We are booking for next year now.

  • "Loved the place and perfectly clean and cosy, sadly the extractor fan and washing machine didn’t work."

It would be helpful to have a few extra plates and bowls and cutlery as we constantly had to wash things for a family of four. We will definitely return!

I'm sorry to hear that you experienced problems with the extractor hood and washing machine. We have an internal maintenance team who are available to respond to issues experienced by guests to try to rectify where we can, so would always encourage you to give us a call when staying with us. I will pass on your comments to the owner regarding the cutlery and dining ware.. Property Owner

  • "Had a wonderful stay in Appletree Cottage."

It’s a beautiful cottage with a lovely private garden in a superb location (we didn’t use the car all week). The ample private parking is a bonus in Lyme Regis. The cottage is beautifully furnished. It could do with a bit more cutlery in the kitchen. The sofa could do with a good clean as it smelt of dogs despite being a pet free property. But these are minor things. We loved the location and the privacy of the garden which was lovely to sit in as the weather was hot and there was plenty of shade. We’d definitely recommend this property!

  • "Appletree Cottage is lovely as ever, we've stayed there several times and always enjoy our holiday, especially now we're allowed a few cushions and throws again."

The cottage is so well located and it's great to have secure parking in Lyme. The only slight issue ithis time was the garden - it's roughly split into three levels and a secure spot for my small dog. However, this year the top part, which used to have a bench and was a lovely evning spot, was very. overgrown and unuseable. Also many of the roses and climbers in the other two sections were also quite overgrown and would have benefitted by some pruning. In fact we had to cut back a few branches to avoid getting scratched while using the apoth and steps - it was okay, but I would hope it wil be tidier when we go back next June - the garden is one of the main reasons we love Appletree Cottage so much. That aside it's a lovely place to stay and we're really looking forward to our next visit, and hope to stay there for many years to come.

  • "Superb, well-located cottage."

We booked after staying there a couple of years ago. Check the listing though - the description of the cottage on your website appeared to be for another cottage. Bedroom needs a stool and mirror for the dressing table in front of the window in the master bedroom. We had an excellent week though.
