  • "All the en-suites and ground floor bathroom smelled heavily, we had to leave the windows open and the doors open to circulate fresh air, the smell built up during the night."

The sink in the top floor en-suite has a problem with the drain, it smells and is partly blocked with black slime. It’s a shame as the house is very nice it’s the little things that let it down. For information, there is a problem with rain water running away. There is no soak away, so the water lays against the building wall which over time will damage the outer wall and cause mould. In fact the wall by the back double door is staring to bubble and damage the outer painted wall.

The cottage is very spacious, all except the lounge area which is very small & the seating is not comfortable We did raise the issue of the previous reviews of the smelly onsuites before we arrived, but was informed this is a bigger issue that cant be resolved quickly, I just took some Zflora & sprayed every day , seemed to solve the issue - all the other facilities were excellent & I would stay there again - excellently situated behind Brewers Quay & mins from the harbour …

  • "The house was excellent."

It was immaculately clean throughout. The furniture and decor were of a high standard. The utility room was useful as were the four bathrooms as we were a large group. The location is great - near to the quay and a park area. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

  • "Very disappointed with this property."

The two king size beds were extremely uncomfortable. One too hard the other too soft. Both of the en-suite bathrooms smelled horrible and were very cramped. All showers needed some where to store the shampoo etc within easy reach, rather than having to put them on the floor. There was not enough seating for 8 people either in the lounge or around the dining table. The sofas in the lounge were really uncomfortable, so much so we couldn’t use that room. If a property sleeps 8 the whole accommodation needs to be suitable for 8 people. The court yard garden is not suitable for pets and is tiny. Generally very unhappy with our holiday home. I have noticed that a lot of my comments have been raised before and nothing has been addressed.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay at the property."

The location was great . The house is decorated to a high standard and was as described, it had everything we needed, very clean . We really liked it . A couple of negatives were the comfort of the double beds , the first floor bedroom, the mattress is very hard, a thick mattress topper would help. Second floor double bed mattress was the opposite and very soft and unsupportive . The sofa is hard and uncomfortable to sit on . I do need to say I think the drains in this house could be blocked, all the sinks and the bath drain very slowly . There is an absolutely horrible smell in both the en-suite bathrooms. It was so bad we didn’t use them . I would think your cleaners would notice this , and others would complain about it, if we had been staying longer we would have contacted Dreams Cottages. Luckily we were able to use the other bathrooms. We would definitely stay again and had a lovely family weekend.

The house has been refurbished to a very high standard. Couldn't fault anything. Yes the double bed on the first floor is very firm but we knew this from previous reviews so took a mattress topper and it was fine. Two parking spaces was invaluable. Highly recommend

Immaculate, very new, clean. Both main dbl **bedrooms 1st & 2nd floor=en-suites, with extra good size twin bedded rooms on both floors. Plus on 1st floor extra large bathroom with stand-alone bath & double shower & groundfloor walk-in dbl shower/Wc. Mid-size **lounge & largish (multi) Tv. Open plan well equipped **Kitchen/Diner with large island/breakfast bar, small (multi) Tv. Patio doors opening onto a reasonable sized **garden with table & chairs. Gr8 designated parking at front & back Gr8 & very convenient for shop/pub & 15mins walk to beach/main town etc. In 5mins you can be at a sea-view/park area, to walk dog. Internet / WiFi was good and fast, 'Multi-use' bin was collected on Monday from its location behind back fence. Unfortunately, No recycling. **Cons: Ideally, the property could be further enhanced with an American style Fridge/Freezer, with ice-maker, in Dining room or Utility area. Sofa's in lounge & kitchen could be improved on, as could mattresses & pillows; but not a deal breaker. There is traffic noise in garden, & nowhere for dog toileting, albeit there is a convenient grass patch out front. However, it's a gr8, lovely property, in an ideal location & would not hesitate to stay there again. The Harrison family. 13June 2024

NOT IMPRESSED. The property sleeps eight but only six chairs around an inadequately sized dining table. Not enough cooking pans to cater for eight people, A great pity because the house is very good in a great location with good parking.

  • "On arrival, we found the allocated parking space right outside the property which was great for unpacking."

The house was clean and tidy. The high spec kitchen is very well equipped. The high tech oven defeated us - maybe some instructions would be helpful. The living room seats only 5 people - possibly a problem as the house sleeps 8. The downstairs loo was out of order as was the WiFi - we reported both issues. The bathroom upstairs was very high spec and the en suite loos were great. The beds are not the most comfortable and we had to buy new pillows whilst we were there as the quality was rather poor. The garden had plenty of seats to sit in for 8 people. Being a dog friendly property was a great bonus for us as we like to bring our dog.

  • "Location good but the overall comfort of the property was misleading certainly not what we had expected."

The house was spotlessly clean but would not really accommodate 8 people comfortably as only seating for 5 at a push in the lounge. Unfortunately the mattresses were extremely poor and very uncomfortable.

  • "Newtons Cove is a fabulous property in tip top condition in a great location with easy access to Weymouth town and the beach."

There is also a small beach nearby where two of our group went early morning swimming. The house is well equipped with all the appliances you could wish for and there was even buckets and spades and fishing stuff left for children. There were 6 ladies in our group and we found it difficult to all sit together other than at the dining table. The sofas were not as comfortable as we would have wished! Also the bed in the double bedroom on the middle floor was the hardest bed I have every tried to sleep in, yes I got the bad bed! We were disappointed that there were no recycling bins available and so one of our group took filled black bags home to help save the environment. Despite these little niggles we had a great week with fabulous weather and would certainly revisit this lovely property.

The freezer was quickly replaced though by Dream Cottages, big thumbs up. The fridge is not big enough being a small under counter, which is why we’d frozen our meat, and also there is nowhere in the property for everyone to sit together, only outside in the garden which is ok when the sun is shining.

We had a great week at Newton’s Cove retreat and would definitely recommend it, and stay here again. We always book near the harbour as there are so many nice restaurants, shops and bars in easy walking distance. It’s also wonderful to walk around the coastal path to Nothe Fort, then grab a coffee by the sea at Stone Pier Cafe, and walk back ‘home’ along the harbour path. The house had everything we needed, and the courtyard garden is sunny and pleasant, with an outside dining table. The 2 parking spaces were a bonus. Friendly neighbours too!

The only thing I would suggest to the owner is the mattress on the double bed on the first floor double room may well need changing as my husband and I found it very hard and it felt like the springs were digging into you, I had to sleep on top of the quilt to get any comfort and fall asleep. Perhaps if there were some small TV's in the bed rooms then it would have been the perfect stay. Hopefully theses small changes will not be over looked as this would be a shame as the property is stunning. Well worth a visit.

Easy walking distance to the harbour, town centre and beach. I would definitely stay her again. Our only issue was having one front door key. Fine if everyone went out as the lock box can be used. Not great if you were leaving a sleeping teenager in the house - do you take the key and hope they don't need to go out or post it through the door and hope they are awake to let you back in? Our request for a second key was denied.

The house was very comfortable providing everything we needed for our holiday. Thank you for providing the little extras like the tea & coffee, dishwasher tablets, and the 2 toilet rolls for every toilet. All the showers were excellent, hot & powerful and having a toilet on every floor was very useful. The kitchen provided everything needed with plenty of cupboard space. I couldn't fault the house in any way and the position was excellent, not too close to be noisy but not to far away. About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
