  • "Spindrift was absolutely perfect."

From the second we arrived we felt at home. The house was beautiful and very comfortable. We especially loved the peat fire. The cottage was equipped with everything (and more) that we needed. The secure garden was great for our dog. Andy and Jen were very welcoming. Spindrift is one of the best holiday cottages we've stayed at without a doubt!

  • "Jen and Andy were the perfect hosts and they had left us a very thoughtful selection of goodies when we arrived."

The house was super clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It also had an enclosed garden which our doggie really enjoyed. Even though the weather was pretty awful, we were so happy about our location - the house really is in a wonderful spot and we visited the local beach a number of times just to lap up the magnificence of the sea and our surroundings.

  • "We stayed at Spindrift for 1 week from 3-10 Aug."

Two adults and our two dogs. The cottage was absolutely fantastic, spotlessly clean and well maintained. It has modern appliances in the kitchen and a wonderful peat-fire in the living room. The views are excellent from both the living room and the small snuggery. We would highly recommend Spindrift for a get-away from it all break. Thank you very much to the owners Andy & Jen. We are already planning our return.

I am dreaming I'm back there away from all the nonsense of life. Im happy to be their cleaner, general maintenance person….This place is unique, thank you for an amazing stay. So give me a call so we can sort a new role for me! Lastly everything is available to use (modern life consumer products) and with the owners not far away nothing seemed much trouble, they also left a nice present on arrival for us. This is a special place. Thank you.

  • "Stunning location."

Lovely welcome pack. Friendly owners who visited us shortly after arrival. Spotlessly clean, superb décor and facilities. Close to beautiful sandy beach 5 mins drive away. Quite a long drive to get there, down single track road with passing places. Wildlife seen through the cottage windows every day.

  • "We have just had a great week at Spindrift."

The cottage is comfortable and well-appointed and the views are to die for. There was a useful reference library on local wildlife and activities. Though it is a distance from the main roads there is plenty to do locally with many walks and a myriad of white sand beaches, some calm and others with Atlantic rollers. We would recommend the Uig Community Cafe about 8 miles away for light lunches and delicious cakes. If you do want to go further afield, the roads are quiet so it is quite feasible to go north to the Butt of Lewis, the most northerly point in the Hebrides, via the Callanish Stones and the Black House Village, or south to the beaches and Golden Road of Harris, in a day. Diesel, on the whole, was comparable in price to what we are used paying at supermarkets in England. We stocked up with food at Tesco in Stornoway when we got off the ferry but were glad we hadn’t bought much frozen food as the freezer in the cottage is not full size. Lastly, we would advise that you do not delay booking the ferry as there are capacity issues on the Ullapool ferry and the popular crossings get booked up - we didn’t get our first choice. Thanks, again, to Andy and Jen for a great week.

  • "We enjoyed a fabulous week at Sprindrift."

On arrival the cottage was very clean and fresh, and had all the equipment that you would need. The whole cottage was well decorated and laid out. The main bedroom is large, with lovely dual aspect windows. The porch was ideal for walking boots and coats and dog stuff. The welcome pack was much appreciated and it was lovely to meet the owners shortly after we arrived who gave us information on the local area and checked that there were no issues. The views from the windows all around the cottage are lovely. We did some great walks directly from the cottage, and also some within a short drive, and were lucky to see seals, a sea otter, deer and eagles. If you want to explore more of Lewis and Harris it is a long drive down a single track road with passing places to get back to the main roads around the island. We didn't mind this as the views are amazing, but you need to plan this into your timetable when arranging sightseeing. Uig community shop is the nearest shop which is about a 10-15min drive. Would definitely recommend.

Beds are of good quality. The kitchen is equipped to cook which is essential in this remote area. The little peat fire made our stay very cost too. Extras are left by the owners which were appreciated. You can walk from the door to the coast. Parking is easy too. We would certainly return to this cottage

  • "Spindrift is a gorgeous cottage in a beautiful location."

The views to the east and the south of the house are spectacular and there are large picture windows which enable you to fully appreciate them. We often sat in the snuggery which is a lovely little room with a south facing view [not pictured on the website]. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. Andy and Jen are very supportive hosts. The house is well located, not far from the shore and with plenty of walks around. We saw otters on the shore and golden eagles, one perched on a fence post near the house and one on a walk along the cliffs at Aird. We loved the garden also which is beautifully landscaped and very secure for our medium sized dogs to wander in. We were lucky with the weather which was better than mainland UK while we were there. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Really comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen, and a lovely snug where you can gaze out at the scenery are amongst the highlights. Loads of great walking straight from the front door and the beaches are to die for. Yes, it's a long drive to get to but is 100% worth it for the views and seclusion. Andy & Jen are great and thoughtful hosts, there if you need them but equally happy to leave you alone to get on with your holiday. Book it, you will not be disappointed.

It is a really clean, comfortable and cosy cottage, and great facilities. Lots of practical extras too that are essential in Lewis like peat for the stove and easy to reach torches. The owners, Andy & Jen, made us very welcome. Thank you!

  • "We had a wonderful stay at your lovely cottage, thanks!"

The cottage has been renovated to a high standard and the views from all aspects through the large double glazed windows are fantastic to rugged mountains and the sea - even on a dull or rainy day we didn't feel cooped up. There was a nice outside area for al fresco dining when the weather allowed. The hosts made us feel very welcome with flowers and fresh eggs, thanks! The area has some lovely beaches which were great for our 2-year-old for playing in the sand and paddling and for us for swimming too. We even saw dolphins one day. Thanks again, Nick

  • "Spindrift is a very clean & comfortable cottage furnished with all the necessities for a wonderful experience of the west area of Lewis."

We enjoyed super walks and scenery with breathtaking beaches and mountains. Spindrift is remote enough to "get away" from the hustle of the popular tourist spots but near to most facilities if required. Thank you Andy and Jen for letting us hire your lovely Spindrift cottage.

  • "Fantastic clean, modern equipped warm cosy cottage in a remote location."

First time experience of a peat fired stove was a nice feature. This place is so well insulated all you need is the heating to be on for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. The cottage is surrounded by wilderness with golden eagles and deserted white sandy beaches not far away in Uig. The perfect getaway for a week. Thanks

  • "Wow what can I say!"

Spindrift is a wonderfully well presented cottage in a beautiful quiet setting on the West coast of Lewis. The cottage is not far from the shoreline of the Atlantic ocean and is surrounded by wonderful mountains and moors but equally gorgeous sandy beaches are never far away. It has every modern amenity and is in lovely condition. The local shop is not too far away and there are a couple of restaurants and cafes to go to as well. The owners Andrew and Jen are very nice and living in the next cottage are easily contactable and will do anything they can to help. Eggs from their ducks and hens were very enjoyable indeed. If you want a quiet relaxing holiday in a getaway from it all location this cottage is for you. We will definitely return if we can.
