Warm, cosy Cottage, great location, great dog walks, everything u need in the cottage, for a lovely weeks holiday! Fab welcome pack and Graham & Helen are such lovely hosts. Unfortunately we cannot return next year, as Cottage is fully booked on dates that suit us. (Great advertisement for the owners and the quality of the Cottage!)

  • "Wonderfully comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting."

So much had been thought about to enhance our stay and make it feel special. Cake on arrival with tea, coffee, milk and eggs along with lovely thoughtful toiletries. Treats for the dogs along with a special area for them to toilet and play just beside the back door. So many places to walk to enjoy the beautiful area of Canonbie and Langholm (a few minutes drive away). The Cross Keys pub a 1k walk from the front door provided a warm welcome for us and our dogs along with good pub grub - really friendly staff and locals. First Bite cafe in Langholm provided the most wonderful breakfast and cakes and well worth a visit. Host was friendly and informative and even though they live in the adjoining house we barely knew they were there. Thank you for our stay we would certainly love to stay again in the future. Thank you Rachel, Laurie, Roxy and Betty

We received a lovely welcome from the owners, who showed us round the property. They left us a wonderful M&S hamper to enjoy (even treats for our four-legged family member)! Very comfortable cottage with quality furnishings. Very good location for walks. Lovely and peaceful. A return is a must.

  • "Fabulous cottage in a very peaceful yet not isolated position."

The welcome we received was warm and friendly and the welcome provisions were an unexpected treat. The cottage is so well appointed it is a real home from home, and extremely comfortable. The dogs were safe in their own garden and the provision of a "poo bin" was so thoughtful not to mention useful! We cannot recommend this too highly, and will certainly be revisiting, even the weather was kind to us in our week. Thank you Graham and Helen for a most enjoyable week.

Every detail has been carefully thought of from the welcome basket , every possible Utensil you might need, lovely toiletries to towels & treats left for our dog . The odd days that were wet (even though we managed to get out )when we came back it was a fight for the window seat , just to take in the views of the gardens and land around the house . Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful Coach House for our holiday we will be back .

Thank you for the lovely feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and it is a pleasure to share this special place with guests. Looking forward to seeing you again, Helen and Graham. Property Owner

  • "This is a cottage that has everything that you could possibly need for a perfect break in this lovely area."

It was scrupulously clean and comfortable and the furnishings and equipment are of a high standard. It was a luxury to have both king-sized bedrooms with their own en-suite showers and toilets. The very large enclosed garden for the exclusive use of the cottage guests is extremely secure and is a lovely place to relax if the weather allows. Graham and Helen are friendly and welcoming but not intrusive in any way although they were on hand if needed. Both ourselves and our 2 dogs have had an excellent week in spite of some inclement weather. Returning to the cottage after some very satisfying walks always felt like coming "home."

Thank you so much for a great review! We are delighted that you both had a lovely week and that you felt comfortable and at home in The Coach House. We love sharing this special place with others and we hope to see you again some time. Best wishes, Helen and Graham. Property Owner

The weather was kind to us, so we had our lunch in the dappled shade of the enclosed garden, which was great for the dog. There is everything you need in the cottage, and more, in the welcome pack with great fresh eggs and Helen's lovely home baking. The village is a short stroll away with the lovely river esk, which the dog and young granddaughter had loads of fun, children's play area was also great. About the location

LANGHOLM

Lockerbie 18 miles; Carlisle 19 miles; Hawick 23 miles.

Langholm is a burgh on the River Esk in Dumfries and Galloway. From Mesolithic Man 9000 years ago, through Roman occupation to the notorious Border Reivers around the 16th century, Langholm has much history to share. The town developed around the textile industry, achieving a worldwide reputation for its woollens, expanding its population and earning the nickname of the ‘Muckle Toon’, or the Large Town. Langholm is also famous as the birthplace of Hugh MacDiarmid, the poet and Thomas Telford who was born just outside the town and after whom a road in the town is named. An unused Episcopalian church was converted into the Armstrong clan museum and was visited by astronaut Neil Armstrong in 1972 when he was made a freeman of the burgh. The town also hosts festivals for music, food and arts and the annual Common Riding draws many visitors. Within easy reach is Lockerbie, home to a good selection of bars and shopping facilities, as well as a jazz festival. A short drive from Langholm in the River Esk Valley is the Kagyu Samye Ling, the first Tibetan Buddhist Centre established in the West. As well as offering residential retreats, day visitors are welcome all year round to explore the temple or relax in the peace gardens and grounds.
