"Carn Cottage offered everything that we needed for our break to Yorkshire."
The property owner was very thorough in making sure we knew everything about the property especially safety aspects that were all in place. He was also very informative about the area.
We enjoyed our break very much. We were aware that parking was tight but at least we were able to park alongside the property. We had also read about traffic noise. The main road behind the property was, indeed extremely busy and particularly with lorries, but far enough from the cottage not to be a problem. We would return to Carn Cottage if we return to the area. Thank you.

Carn Cottage is a cosy two-room cottage well located for all the local tourist hotspots as well as the quieter areas. A folder of local walks and visits is provided for information. We were lucky enough to catch the good weather and spent a good deal of time out and about, but having Carn Cottage as our pad to return to was fab. The cottage was clean and comfortable, with all the basic equipment provided and the post office for groceries a short walk away. A delightful week's escape to North Yorkshire for my partner and I.

"The cottage is comfortable and well placed for many good walks, both from the cottage and within easy travelling distance by car, though the access onto the main road is a little hair-raising."
The facilities are well suited for two people, the instructions for the use of the cottage are clear, and were explained by the friendly owner who lives next door, and came in to go through them. Just a couple of points: as we had travelled quite a long way a welcome pack would have been well received (if only a small carton of milk and a couple of sachets of tea and coffee) We also found the nearby main road too noisy with the heavy passing traffic to be able to sit out in peace. Although there is wonderful scenary in the surrounding countryside, there are no views from the property. We should also perhaps mention that the cotttage is opposite a double garage that has an overnight security light that is constantly lit - soemtimes flashes - and shines directly into the bedroom. (This garage doesn't belong to the owner, so the disturbance is no fault of his, though). Still, all in all, we had good weather and some fabulous walks.

"If you are looking for a cozy, clean, quiet, romantic retreat away from it all, this is the place for you!"
The pictures do not do it justice. Carn cottage is very sweet and quaint, with ample cooking equipment to rustle up a delicious meal in the evenings. We stayed for new years and had a fantastic time. After Brian showed us how to start the traditional coal fire, he left us to it making sure that we knew where he was if we needed anything. The sitting room upstairs lends itself to a stunning view of the countryside and the bedroom downstairs is really comfortable and cozy. There is a folder in the cottage full of walks if you wish to explore and some games (including scrabble) if you want a fun night in. As for the local area, well there are two pubs in walking distance, 'The Maypole inn' and 'The Boars head' for meals and coffee if you do not fancy cooking, if you do, there is a well stocked local post office which sells fresh eggs, sausages, breakfast cereals amongst other things just along the road. For a more extensive shop, it is best to take a short drive to the co-op in Settle.
We loved it here and will be returning.

Lots to see and do (e.g. the market town of Settle, Ingleborough caves, Skipton Castle, Ingleton waterfall trail, Settle - Carlisle Railway over the Ribblehead Viaduct, etc. as well as innumerable walks) all within a 25 minute drive from the cottage and enabling the visitor to have as relaxing or strenuous a holiday as desired.
