  • "The cottage was lovely and had been modernised very well."

It was situated really close to the centre of the village. It was a great place to stay, and we would certainly stay here again if we ever returned to Sutton-on-Sea.

  • "This is a great bungalow in a great location."

Lots of space inside and outside for our active toddler. Thoughtful touch of ride on toy and some unbreakable plates snd bowls too. We were a bit perturbed by slightly creaky single beds and we didn't find the sofas very comfy for an evening of relaxing. The accommodation for perfect for a multi-generational seaside holiday.......and we were lucky with the weather. Could do with a proper washing line for drying off beach towels as the line rigged up by someone is really close to a fence. A minor thing but it would be really helpful. No apliance manuals were in the house folder which would have been helpful. Sadly no visitor's book to leave comments. It is a lovely clean and fresh bungalow which was lovely to stay in. Thank you.

  • "Great location, a few tweaks would make the property even better - radiator in twin room too big & no control to turn down the temperature, also has a bed against it so would be dangerous if a young child is using the bed."

Towel rail in the bathroom gets very hot & is a danger for everyone, we used a spare towel cover it throughout our stay. Bins in cupboard awkward to use, a large swing bin in the kitchen would be a better option. The lounge is cosy and we easily sat 5 adults.

  • "Cottage is spacious and well positioned for shops and coast."

Dining facility uncomfortable for older folk. Cushions for garden furniture would be appreciated. Worst problems en-suite sink blocked on arrival and all week. En-suite toilet seat needs adjusting as it is loose and poorly positioned too close to the cistern which does not allow the safe lifting of seat for male users. Also non-slip shower mats should be provided and a welcome note and a little milk on arrival would have been a nice touch.

Hi thank you for your feedback. I am glad you found the cottage spacious and in a good location. I will ensure the ensuite sink is checked for any blockages, as I have not been made aware of this. There is any anti slip mat in the front bedroom wardrobe. An information pack is sent to every guest the week before your arrival and there is also an information pack at the property. Property Owner

  • "Lovely bungalow, had everything we needed but we were only a two and dog."

Even we found the living room slightly small, but not an issue. One small problem was the main bins. They had not been emptied for a while when we got there and they were not supposed to be collected when we were there, but we put them out anyway... and they were collected. Instructions need updating. Otherwise would strongly recommend.

Thank you for your feedback. I will double check the collection dates of the bins to ensure they are correct. Property Owner

  • "Lovely holiday home."

Just one thing to point out - in the information book left for guests the bin info is incorrect. We followed the instructions only to find out from a neighbour it was the wrong day, wrong bin.

Thanks for your feedback. I will double check this but our bins are not collected by the council so it probably will be a different day to the neighbours Property Owner

A real home from home and we would love to return there at some point. One (very slight) little niggle is that I would like to have had a safety grab rail in the en suite shower. Probably because we are oldies we feel vulnerable to a slip in the shower. Other than this it would be difficult to find any fault at all.

Thank you for your feedback, I am glad you found The Seaside Retreat comfortable to stay in. I hope you return soon Property Owner

The bungalow is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Having two bathrooms was a bonus especially with three adults and two children. The bungalow is very close to all the amenities of Sutton on Sea. May I recommend the provision of a couple of blankets in the bedroom and a little more information regarding the recycling procedures? Many thanks and have a good season.

Thank you for your lovely feedback - it’s really appreciated. I will take note of the blankets and ensure the welcome pack is clearer regarding recycling. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage which has been renovated to quite a high standard."

The en-suite bedroom was great with patio doors opening on to the garden. The garden was large and mainly lawned which was great for our dog with nice patio and furniture (I even sat out in February with a glass of Prosecco!) The cottage was lovely and warm, if you follow the simple heating guidance and the fire in the front room could be used if an extra boost was necessary. The beds and settees were comfortable and having a bath as well as a shower facility was great. Only 5 minutes from seafront where we walked along promenade one way to Mablethorpe and the other to Anderby Creek. There were other walks along the coast which we did as well. Beaches are beautiful and sandy which our dog thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely dog friendly cafe in Mablethorpe called the Cafe Blitz and the local dog friendly hotel called Bacchus was wonderful. All local people were exceptionally friendly. Highly recommended (the only small negative comment is no welcome pack (which I know is not essential) but is the only cottage I’ve been to that didn’t have one).

Thank you for your detailed feedback and hope you return again soon. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

  • "A lovely location, nice to be able to park outside."

Only 5 mins walk to the shops. We had to buy a new bulb for one of the bedrooms, quite expensive for a LED from the local shop. We have stayed in previous Sykes lets that have a few spare bulbs. The central heating came on early in the morning when we were still in bed, and if we stayed in during the afternoon the house was cold. Adjusting the thermostat had no effect and we were not allowed to alter the timer. So a beautiful place but maybe avoid during the winter.

Thank you for your feedback. Apologises you found the heating not satisfactory, settings can be changed/adjusted on the panel inside the larder cupboard. Spare bulbs are found under the kitchen sink. I hope you enjoyed you stay despite the above issues. Property Owner

  • "First impressions of the bungalow are that it's a very nice place, close to shops and beach so great location, however a number of maintenance issues that could be easily rectified spoil the over rating."

The toilet seat in the main bathroom was unattached one side and moved as you sat down(I fixed this myself) the curtains in the living room run of the rail when opened, the front door is warped and doesn't close properly(had to press foot against lower corner to lock lower deadlock) some cupboard doors in the kitchen/dining room were lose and nearly fell off when opened and the French doors in the bedroom need ajustment as very difficult to close once opened, also a number of places where paint was peeling from the plaster. But as I said these are only minor issues. Other than these small problems the bungalow was well furnished and equipped and as I've said in a great location.

The main down side was the was the mattress in front bedroom. It was very old ,dirty and uncomfortable . The person sleeping in it had hardly any sleep. I was told it had had a deep clean but still very very stained. Did not see it until we stripped bed on departure . we were horrified at the state of it and would have not let anyone sleep in it if we had looked on arrival. Owner said another one had been ordered but had been a delay , but looking back at revues someone had complained in May about it. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "The Seaside Retreat has everything needed for a comfortable holiday and was spotlessly clean."

Although it sleeps 6, we found it comfortable for 4, with only 4 seats in the lounge and at the dining table (each bench comfortably seating 2). There is no welcome pack at this property, so ensure you have the basics with you on arrival. The back garden is fully fenced which gave us total peace of mind with our two dogs. My only issue was with the mattress in the front bedroom. When I stripped the bed on the last morning, I was shocked to find the mattress badly stained and discoloured. It was so old the writing on the label had worn off. I have written to the owner about this, so hopefully it will be replaced immediately.

Thank you for your feedback. There are two dining chairs (blue and cream) in the property for your to pull round to the dining table if there are six of you at the property. There is a hard copy of the welcome pack at the property, however i do email an electronic copy to all guests the week before their stay. We have arranged for our cleaning company to throughly clean the mattress whilst we seek a replacement - thank you for bringing it to our attention. Property Owner

  • "Disappointed that the ensuite shower was not working."

We did message the owner who replied quickly but was unable to rectify. With 6 of us staying washing in the morning was problematic with only one shower, especially as you needed to step over the bath. Thus we left early a day early. Otherwise we found the property comfortable and well equipped, other than the feedback previously given regards to the fridge and door handles. I believe the owner is aware and is seeking to resolve these issues. I would also advise that the lightbulbs are checked in the living room as we found that only one lamp worked thus making the area quite dark at night.

Thank your feedback. We are sorry the electrician could not come to look at the electric shower at the weekend. However, he did go on Monday to find the isolation switch had been turned off, so the shower had no electrical power. There is now a free standing fridge in the kitchen and the kitchen door handles are being changed this November. Property Owner

  • "Nicely refurbished cottage in a good position."

However, several problems, some of which had been mentioned many times before and should have been sorted by now, namely the fridge and door knob problems. Other problems included the garden being totally overgrown and the windows being very dirty. Also insufficient instructions were available for heating/hot water and other kitchen goods. The cleaning was very superficial in that on closer inspection undersheets and throw cover were stained.

Thank you for your feedback. After your visit I inspected the property due to the number of issues you had, which, where possible, were rectified during your stay. There is now a stand alone fridge in the kitchen and the kitchen door handles are being changed this November. The gardener comes every Friday to cut the grass, keep on top of the weeds and any leaves that have fallen. The garden was not overgrown when I inspected last week. There is a welcome pack left out for every guest, which clearly explains how to work kitchen appliances/boiler, and guests have my number if there are any other problems. With regards to the cleaning, I have thoroughly checked the level of cleaning and am satisfied it is done to a high standard. The mattress protectors and throws had no stains and are cleaned regularly. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our holiday to Sutton on Sea."

The house was really well placed and clear to see it’s very recently been renovated. Just some niggles that made the stay towards the end a little uncomfortable. The choice of kitchen cupboard handles made it almost impossible to open the dishwasher! Really recommend replacing those. The fridge really isn’t suitable for any number of people let alone the 5 of us. A free standing fridge would be a welcome addition! The lack of towels, luckily I brought some with me otherwise we would have struggled. And the sofas in the living room are really narrow and uncomfortable. Maybe some footstools might help for those with longer legs (we are a short family anyway and were still uncomfortable). Unfortunately, a large stain was left by the previous tenants in the living room. We had to keep the boys away from the area the whole holiday.

Thank you for your feedback. We take on board the comments with regard to the kitchen handles and fridge. The handles are being changed and a larger free standing fridge is going to be put in the kitchen this November. With regards to the shortage of towels, every guest is given a hand towel and bath towel for their stay. Sorry to hear you found the sofas uncomfortable, we haven't had any complaints about this before. Unfortunately, the previous guest did not let us know about the stain in the corner of the living room, however I did contact you at the very start of your holiday to let you know about this and also arranged for the cleaners to go back to remove the stain Property Owner
