  • "We had another superb Sykes holiday in Stable Cottage with its beautiful situation in mountains we used to roam half a century ago."

We would have liked a downstairs wc, but the combination of lovely views, excellent weather and the owners Emlyn and Helen’s company made it very enjoyable.

The weather can be unpredictable but it didn’t dampen our enjoyment and exploration of this beautiful area. A perfect spot for walking the lanes or the mountains or popping down to the coast. Would recommend and would love to return soon if we can.

Thankyou for such lovely comments. We hope to see you again, glad you enjoyed. Emlyn & Helen Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a wonderful valley at the end of the road."

Perfect peace! The only problem was finding Craig Isaf. I think it would help if after the first no through road in the instructions where you carry on and ignore it, there is a second no through road further on which you turn up. This is on the left where the main road goes sharp right. You then drive to the end of the road.

A nice, quaint, historic farmhouse surrounded by stunning landscapes, great walks, and a brilliant beach a short drive away. If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life this is a perfect spot. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Looked after us perfectly and gave some great tips.

Very minor issues: the kitchen sink and bathroom sink plugs need replacing. Future enhancement: replace TV with a smart one which can allow streaming media.

  • "The location is absolutely breath-taking."

It's about 3 miles along a single track road once you leave the main road, as you get more remote, so does the phone and 3/4/5G signal (honestly - this is not a bad thing!). The owners are great and very helpful making us very welcome. The property was clean and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. It’s remote but it was refreshing to be away from everything and surrounded by mountains. No issues with the TV reception on the free-sat. Some mention the shower isn't very powerful - don't panic... it does the job perfectly! Some mention cleanliness, we didn't have any issues. Remember it is an old property and you'll find the odd cobweb etc. It's a 2 hour walk to the nearest pub (The Victoria Inn). The food there is excellent as was the 2 hour walk back. There is no Wi-Fi at the property and as already mentioned the phone signal is hit and miss. If you are looking for a digital de-tox... look no further! We would definitely stay here again. One issue which has been mentioned by others is the lintel over the lounge door which is a little low - if you are over 5'10" make sure you duck when leaving the lounge!

It is stated that the property has no wi fi so why bring it up? A new water pressure pump has been fitted to the property last year so water pressure is similar to mains. T.V. has perfect reception and depending which phone you use so is phone signal. Property Owner

An absolutely perfect get away from it all cottage with fantastic surroundings. A little hard to find first time especially in the dark but had great help from the owner. If you wish to get away from it all this is the place to go.

It is about a 15 min drive off the road on a very narrow lane. The cottage is well equipped and value for money. Our only problem was the shower was scalding hot and we couldnt regulate it and TV reception was a bit hit and miss but this cottage is a walkers dream and it wouldnt put us off booking it again

the cottage is equipped with every comfort. Walks can start right at the cottage, very nice. In the garden you have some nice views over the beautiful landscape. The owners do everything they can to give you a nice stay. Highly recommended.

  • "Our third time at Graig Isaf, we enjoyed a wonderful week of walking and visiting."

There are stunning views from the property, down the valley over the sea to Llyn, up towards the Rhinogydd. Our hosts could not have been better, generally leaving us to ourselves but quickly attending to a minor problem: repairing a blown fuse. Our only slight caveat involves the washing machine: it washed well enough but we couldn't get it to spin and thereby empty the water. Unless that was because we failed to operate it properly - entirely possible - that should be attended to. But that was a very minor complaint and in no way detracted from what was an excellent stay.

The views were amazing and the location was perfect for walking from the door with our dog. The cottage was warm and comfortable with everything you needed. The double bed was comfy and there was always plenty of hot water for that much needed bath after a long walk in the Rhinogs. The Jones family were very friendly and helpful when needed. Would definitely recommend this delightful property for a get away from it all break and we will be back.

It’s very remote but was lovely to be away from everything surrounded by mountains. For us it was perfect! We would stay here again. One issue we had was the lounge door way had a low hung ceiling which was very low. My husband is over 6ft so kept hitting his head. It really needed a sticker or something to remind tall people to duck. Apart from this it was perfect.

The advertisement states there is WiFi which is not the case. More information on the remoteness of the property and the lack of takeaways and restaurants would have been useful as most were closed. Lovely remote property.

  • "The remote location is stunning and certainly the best thing about this cottage."

The owners seem very friendly - we met them both shortly. Overall a very good stay. Cleaning was very good in all rooms, but a bit below expectations in the kitchen. The dining table cover was dirty in various places, and the handles of some of the cabinets felt greasy. We had to rewash some of the dishes and pots, and there was no proper sponge available for doing so. There was also some pet hair on the stacked table set, on the unseen tables. In covid times, given the 'extra time' and attention allegedly given to cleaning, one expects all parts of the house to be spotless. The other parts of the house were all very clean, no complaints there. There was overall certainly enough room for us, but the pictures online are taken with a wide angle and in fact they are smaller than one is led to expect. The garden was fantastic, with amazing views over mountains, sea, and sunsets. The garden furniture was adequate, with a table for eating and chairs for lounging or reading. Bedding could be improved: the mattress felt old and a bit sunk, and the duvet and cover are cheap synthetic material that made us sweat every night. Bathroom was spotless and there was always warm water, which was a treat after wonderful hikes. Overall a very good stay, with some room for improvement as indicated. We can recommend this place, especially for the magical remote location and proximity to very good walks in the fascinating Rhinogydd/Rhinogs. The village of Llanbedr is 12 minute drive away (narrow road!) and the beach just a few minutes furhter.

  • "The owners were fantastic and couldn’t have helped us more."

The property is very remote and our delivery didn’t make it, so the owner gave us food and drink to be getting on with and toys for our little boy to play with too! They were so friendly and helpful. The property is set in the most beautiful surroundings and we couldn’t fault the location. The beds were comfy and the towels were lovely and soft. We were left a lovely bottle of wine and juice for our boy on arrival, which was a lovely touch. There were enough plates/utensils etc and it was easy to cook in the house. The views were fabulous and we loved the proximity to the beach. However, we felt the property was overpriced. Whilst it was lovely and we had a great time, for the amount we paid, we expected a little more luxury. The boiler was very noisy and kept us awake and the hot water was intermittent.

They don’t disappoint but in fact exceed all expectations. The cottage is basic though. No WiFi, no dishwasher and very low water pressure which makes showering difficult and it could do with a new double bed. However you can easily ignore these small problems for the location which is a true experience in itself.

Given that it’s a working farm, nearly 5 miles off a main road and therefore facilities such as WiFi (given and expected in most parts of the world these days) is limited. However, the owners were extremely friendly, the mountain location breathtaking and the 15 minute drive down to Llanbedr awesome. We will definitely back.
