  • "Lovely property with a great garden."

It was great for us as two singles with a dog. The garden is very safe and secure for my two year old dog with plenty to sniff! I was worried about the proximity to the main road but it honestly wasn't a problem. Its also a sun trap with great views from the upper level. The cottage is exactly as described. It was very clean and cosy. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed and cooking full meals was not a problem. I couldn't fault it. There is a beach about 10 minutes walk away and easy access to Pwllheli and Criccieth for supplies. I have a question for the owner- what is the story about the face in the wall? And a suggestion that a sun parasol would be a useful addition to the garden.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage. We are looking into providing another parasol for the patio areas, but unfortunately previous guests left it unsecured when we experienced some high winds… We are not quite sure of the history behind the sculpture on side wall of the house, but would love know too… We look forward to welcoming you back to Tan Yr Allt soon ! Despite the changable weather we really enjoyed our 4 night stay here.. Thank you for the welcome pack it was much appreciated. The grounds and gardens were very secure for our little Westie dog with lovely views and Afon Wen beach was very close by. There was everything you needed to ensure a pleasant holiday, inside and out..The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfy bedrooms and the bathroom was a delightful surprise..The only thing that would have improved things would have been a complete set of handrails going up & down to those lovely gardens for those of a mature age..there was a set but it needed extending further for the less able to feel steady.

The garden was amazing and although our dog did not get out, two small dogs were able to get into the garden from the field behind the property.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the double mattress in the double bedroom. We have taken your comments on board and ordered a new mattress, although we have received positive comments on the comfort of this bed previously…. The cottage is surrounded by cattle in the neighbouring fields, so I’m quite surprised dogs appeared within our gardens… However, we will investigate this and rectify where necessary. Tastefully modernised but retaining many original features of a traditional Welsh cottage. Set in pleasant gardens with outside seating areas. A very enjoyable stay. Also located well for enjoying the many beautiful coastal areas nearby.

  • "The mattress on the double bed is uncomfortable as it a feels as though the springs are coming through."

I think a memory foam cover at the least would help. The chest of drawers in that room only allowed three drawers to open, and of those one had a handle which came off as I opened it. I appreciate you can’t do anything about the traffic noise!!

Sorry to hear that you had trouble with the chest of drawers during your stay - We have had this repaired now following your comments. It’s unfortunate that you was unhappy with the mattress in the double bedroom, we have only ever received positive feedback on this bed. We have taken all your comments on board and will look to improve where possible We do hope to welcome you back to Tan Yr Allt soon ! Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous stay - loved the cottage and the garden."

Good location too. Would have been good to have a cafetiere or coffee machine - there was a nespresso machine but the capsules provided were the wrong size. There was a problem with the shower but the owner was quick to fix it the day after we arrived ,- thank you. We did call Sykes when we had the shower issue and left a message ( 8pm sat night) whoever was on duty at Skyes called back but we got disconnected due to poor signal - they never tried to call back so it seemed like a token effort from Skyes duty person; particulary as we were unable to call them back from the number they called us on as it went straight through to their call centre recording. Fortunately the number for the housekeeper was in the book so we were able to connect with the owner.

We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Tan Yr Allt, it was very unfortunate that there was an issue with the shower, this has now been replaced for a new model. As mentioned, we do provide a Dolce Gusto coffee machine within the kitchen area - But do expect the guests to provide the capsules as there are so many different varieties. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a 5 night stay as a family of 2 adults, 2 children and a dog."

We found the cottage to be cosy and well equipped for ourselves. The location was great as most things were off the main road outside the cottage. It was a quiet road and didn't disturb our stay in any way. Our journey to the cottage was very easy to navigate due to the location and instructions given. Having a dog one of concerns would normally be around safety but this wasn't an issue here as the grounds were very secure and our dog had a mini holiday too. If you have young children there is a Rabbit farm around 5 mins away, a quiet beach around 10 mins and bounce below was around 35 mins. Parking here was very easy and they had a lovely little café to sit and admire the beach and rolling hills. I have dropped a mark on the cleanliness as there was a tissue on the sideboard in the bedroom on arrival. We didn't know if this has been used. This was only very minor and wouldn't stop me booking again. It didn't affect our stay but the cottage advertises for 5 people. There is only 4 dinner plates and 4 side plates so this may be an issue for some in future bookings. We were blessed to have 4 days of sunshine and the raised garden was a lovely area to look out onto the bay

  • "A beautiful, cosy, clean stone cottage."

Thank you so much for our stay in your lovely cottage. It was very clean and had everything you could wish for, to enable you fully enjoy your stay. It's a very cosy cottage and deceptively spacious inside. The weather was a little cool on a couple of days, so to be able to get back and light the wood burner was very much appreciated. The kitchen is a little narrow, but this was not an issue and is very well stocked with all the equipment you could possibly need. The modern bathroom is enormous and impressive with a great powerful shower. The bedrooms are comfortable and roomy with fantastic views over the fields to the sea. The dog-secure grounds, on various levels, are very well equipped with loads of space and a magnificent view across Bae Ceredigion to Harlech on the other side. Think it would be lovely to visit the cottage in summer to fully appreciate the gardens. It is well situated just a few miles from Criccieth so the whole of the Llyn Peninsular and Snowdonia are easily accessible. Afon Wen beach is just a short walk away and a great place to walk the dog. Although the cottage is set back from the A497, it is still very peaceful and quiet as any traffic noise is not at all intrusive. Thank you once again for the stay and thank you very much for all the goodies you provided on arrival.

The first thing to mention about this cottage is the very private gardens and space around the cottage, truly fabulous safe and private space with different seating areas etc, the cottage is set back from the main road with its own large private driveway which is gated so very secure. The cottage itself is comfortable, clean, the bathroom is fabulous! Although the cottage is on the main A road, the traffic noise did not intrude and it is a great location for exploring the area, the fabulous beaches on the Llyn Peninsula or up into the mountains of Snowdonia. There is an unspoilt quiet beach within walking distance. All in all, a fabulous cottage, we will be returning again! Thankyou to the owners and the housekeeper for the wonderful welcoming gifts in the kitchen and a fabulous, clean cottage as our base for a week exploring this wonderful area.

Only concerns are the steps and path leading up to the garden, though there is a short piece of handrail on steps by gate the rest should have handrails for safety. As we are in our 70's we had to be very careful going to the upper garden. There should also be a bath mat

However, it was apparent that the bbq had not been cleaned for some time and there were dirty glasses put back in the kitchen cupboard. Other reviews mentioned the mattress in the main room upstairs and I have to agree it wasnt great quality and the bed itself didnt fit the space very well. Nothing to do with the cottage but I feel I must also comment on the check in/out times that Menai Holidays specify on their site 5pm is far too late, particularly on a Saturday. We also were told the property was available for the Friday evening but were quoted £160 which was extortionate for 1 night and yet even though the property was empty we weren't offered an earlier check in time which could of been very handy. 9am check out is too early and it does impact the final day of your break when packing and tidying with children and a dog. We have booked with yourselves before and check in times were much better.

  • "A well positioned cottage, ideal as a touring base for NW Wales with its lovely beaches and plenty of holiday activities."

The cottage is well maintained, with ample parking and, importantly for us, a secure garden and front area for our dog to roam freely. The positives of the property are many and far outweigh the negatives - and are listed in the holiday advert. The negatives are minimal - the paving in the immediate area around the cottage grounds and steps up to the garden are uneven. The routes to the rear garden would benefit with a hand rail for support. As a couple in our 70s we needed to take extra care when walking around. The kitchen is a bit overwhelming - and seemed untidy - with shelves full of cooking containers, equipment etc. The above negatives are purely our own opinion - the owners have clearly spent a great deal of time in presenting a lovely holiday facility.

It’s huge enclosed garden is perfect for those on holidays with kids or dogs. The accommodation had everything we needed. The only downside (which we knew) was it is close to a busy main road. That didn’t detract at all and you can hardly hear anything at night inside. The fact the property isn’t overlooked and the garden was massive was perfect.

Great cottage but would benefit from having more comfortable seating and better lighting on driveway and on sign on front of drive easy to miss in the dark

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you felt the seating was uncomfortable. The sofa in the lounge is also a comfortable sofa bed, but unfortunately doesn't have the same comfort when being used as a sofa. The lighting along the driveaway is something we are currently looking into, and the cottage is located in a semi rural area within the welsh countryside, unfortunately minimal external lighting is to be expected. However, we hope you had a great stay and will return in the future. Property Owner
