  • "A fantastic home and the hosts were very accommodating and made sure we settled in."

The house was clean and tidy and everything there that we could ask for. This is an ideal place for families to gather as it provides the space but also gives the comfort of a home.

  • "We stayed here for 4 nights over the Easter weekend."

Our party consisted of 8 adults, our 3 year old granddaughter and our 2 grandsons aged 19months and 16months. We also took our little dog. The property is beautiful and there was ample room for our large party. The downstairs room converts into a bedroom which meant effectively we had 5. I had worried about the little ones eating in the high chair with the property having cream carpets and I had taken floor covers - however these weren’t needed as in between the kitchen and the utility room there is a little annexe room with a hardwearing carpet where the boys had their meals. The garden area was ideal and I had chosen it as it is very secure and all on one level which is ideal for 3 little ones and a dog. The accommodation is immaculate and the host was very pleasant and replied very quickly to my requests for a high chair and travel cot and for extra logs for the hot tub. The location is also ideal and we had lovely walks to Barnard Castle and nearby Runa Farm, each about 15-20 minutes away. Outdoor and indoor games were provided and we had some good old fashioned fun playing boules and swing ball in the garden and on an evening played trivial pursuit and other board games with a few tipples. A thoroughly lovely stay and highly recommended.

Thank you Joanne for your wonderful review! It makes our day to hear we are making stays at Ashtree great experiences:) We hope to see you again in the future. Kindest regards, Peter & Joanne Property Owner

  • "An excellent property, clean & well equipped & Peter, the owner, is extremely attentive & helpful."

Only minor draw backs are lounge sofas too long in the leg needing lots of cushions & one bed at least is too soft for us. But would happily stay again.

Thank you John It was a pleasure having you stay with us and I look forward to welcoming you back. Thank you for your feedback about the sofas, and when you mentioned to me during your stay about cushions, we purchased several more, to make your stay more comfortable:) We have a selection of beds with different firmness levels if you’d prefer both firm mattresses next time:) Thank you for leaving everything so clean and tidy:) All the best, Peter Property Owner

  • "Had one or two issues."

Having paid nearly £1200 for three nights were slightly annoyed to be asked for an extra £10 for wood before we’d even in packed. Our main issue were the little extras you’d expect from 5* accommodation ie hair dryers. ‘A mirror in each room. ‘Full size bath towels few commodities like milk and bread and maybe a bottle of wine(which we’ve had in previous rentals)when we raised these issues with the owner were told they were on the list. Should have been reflected in the price !!!

Hi Mary I’m sorry that your experience was not as we would hope. We will learn from your feedback to improve in the future, and thank you for making us aware. We have, since your review added extra mirrors to bedrooms and downstairs toilet, a hair dryer has been added. Complimentary gifts kindly left by hosts differ from each holiday let. The hottub is drained, cleaned, refilled, and heated to bathing temperature, extra logs can be purchased at less than cost before arrival, as advertised. Property Owner

  • "A lovely, spacious, clean house, ideal for 2 families to get together."

It is clear this is a newly let property with holes in the kitchen where a previous window blind had been and a missing kitchen utensil, however once we made the owner aware of this one was delivered within a few hours. The hot tub was not as enjoyable as we had hoped, being a wood fired hot tub and requiring constant attention and maintenance for use, but the owner replenished our log supply during our stay. Overall we had a great holiday and enjoyed staying in this lovely house.

Dear Amanda We are excited to hear you loved the house and had a fantastic stay & we would love to welcome you back. Thanks for your feedback and we are already looking at new blinds for the kitchen, we are always trying to improve:) I’m disappointed the hot-tub wasn’t as enjoyable as you’d hoped, it was particularly rainy and windy for your dates in December, which is out of our control:(. All the hot-tub maintenance, including; cleaning, filling with fresh mains water & treatment, is done before each groups arrival, and we now, from your feedback will ensure that the water temperature is up to bathing temperature, which will improve the guest experience. Kindest regards, Peter. Property Owner
