  • "We found the cottage to be clean and stylishly decorated and presented."

It was conveniently situated only a few minutes walk to Amble high street and was very quiet. There were a couple of maintenance issues - the damaged flooring in the sitting/dining room needs sorting in our opinion, but we enjoyed our stay.

  • "Excellent cottage."

Superb location, cottage was very clean and the information wallet was very helpful. The only downside was the electric shower but that was down to our personal preference. We would certainly stay at the cottage again if it was available.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed Cherry Tree Cottage - its homeliness and generosity and beautiful art."

The bed was very comfortable and so too the lounge furniture, and the kitchen is a lovely space. We became more and more at home and were sorry to leave. The location was perfect for us. Would agree that the bath is pleasing on the eye, but not entirely practical and the dining table chairs are heavy. Thank you for the information and books , especially Oswalds Way and The World History of Art.

  • "It was a lovely property, beautifully decorated and elegantly artistic with lots of quirky features."

Easy to look after and two very different secure outdoor areas which our dog liked very much. Most things we needed were there, so very convenient. A few little maintenance jobs needed doing but nothing major. We would have liked to know which refuse bin to use for what, as it was a bit of guess work. Perhaps the owner could leave a list pinned up in the kitchen re refuse and recycling and where to put dirty linen as we just had to go on gut instinct. All in all a very enjoyable stay. We liked Amble and Warkworth nearby.

  • "Nice cottage in very convenient location but would benefit from some maintenance/updating."

Only small things in the main but spoil the perception of quality. Eg kitchen door handle came off in my hand; no rack for grill pan; dying plants in yard; loose bath panel; barely adequate shower with gaps in tiling; rugs that slip dangerously on wooden floor. Personally I'd get rid of the bath, which has very high sides and install a walk in shower. Sorry if this sounds critical but you may not be aware of some of these issues. Overall we enjoyed being there but would probably choose Canny Cottage, next door, if we visited again.

Many thanks for this feedback Christine and I’m so sorry you felt Cherry Tree fell short of the standard expected. I will address each of your points raised and make sure they are fixed or replaced where necessary for future bookings. My contact details are at the property so I do wish you had contacted me at the time as we could have resolved these issues for your stay . We state clearly that we have a large bath not a walk in shower which many people prefer but I will check the side panel which may just need clipping back in place . Anyway all feedback is helpful and I do hope you managed to enjoy your stay despite the grievances. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in Amble which is a great base for exploring the Northumberland Coastline."

Very good bus service as well which added an extra dimension to our stay and made a change from using the car on some days. The views of the coastline from the top deck were extraordinary. The cottage was well cared for and comfortable and we had everything we needed. Nice welcome pack of essential items. The information pack was very helpful but it was a shame there was no visitors book provided for comments and to build up an onsite review of holiday experiences to share. Lovely walk from Amble to Walkworth along the NE coastal path. Would definitely go back to this cottage.

Sadly we had to leave on Wednesday morning as my wife was feeling unwell , but we would certainly consider going back .

  • "A very enjoyable week spent in a lovely cottage."

A quiet road, close to amenities and a few minutes from the wonderful harbour. The cottage was warm, and tastefully furnished and decorated. The bed was so comfortable. Possibly people with mobility issues would struggle climbing into the bath for a shower, but this didn’t affect me. A great tv with so many channels. I found a spot at the end of the road to park my car and used public transport all week.

Thank you for your lovely review . I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Cherry Tree and lovely to have met you too ! Thanks for tip on bus timetable- good idea so will get a copy and include in Welcome Pack . Hope you visit again sometime. Nikky Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, the cottage was perfect for the holiday we wanted with our dog."

Lovely quiet location, near all local amenities. Friendly pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk away. Within driving distance of fabulous beach walks. The actual house had almost everything we needed, it was clean and well maintained, and there was a good welcome pack upon arrival. A couple of minor points for consideration, we couldn’t find a brush to sweep the floor after sandy walks (even though we cleaned and brushed our dog some sand was still dropped) we used a hand brush which wasn’t ideal. We brought our own logs for the log burner, none were provided. Another minor point for people with mobility issues was that the bath has quite high sides, so getting into the shower might be a problem. Would we stay there again? Absolutely! We loved it

Thank you so much for your review . It’s always so helpful to get feedback . Sorry about the brush - we have just added a small hoover and brush to the property . We started out supplying logs but it was complicated for us to keep stocked . Logs are available at the local garage so very easy to pick up . Could introduce a preorder system possibly. So pleased you enjoyed your stay . Hope you come again . Nikky Property Owner

  • "No parking near property was a small issue but not mentioned in listing."

Plastic kitchen spoons & slotted strainers left marks on food. Kettle lid malfunctioned. However, our holiday was great & the locale and people more than made up for these minor irritations! Love Amble!

Hi Judith . Many thanks for your feedback . We will check out the items mentioned in the kitchen and make sure everything is working efficiently. Regarding the parking I’m sorry if you found it a problem but there is always plenty of free parking very near the property . The listing also does not say parking available but available nearby . The benefit of course when you are staying is that it is a beautifully quiet street. It is also absolutely fine to drop off outside for 5 minutes or so . So pleased you enjoyed the area though. • "We had a lovely stay at Cherry Tree House which had everything we wanted for a week’s stay with our lurcher and was exactly as described."

One bonus was that the house has no passing traffic, just the occasional car dropping off at the neighbours. A lovely quiet area. Fabulous little house, easy walk to the town and harbour. Amble was a nice town and a great location for exploring the Northumberland coast. Dog friendly everywhere. Efficient booking process through Sykes, we’ve already booked through them again. 5/5 from us!

Thank you for your lovely feedback and I’m so pleased you and your dog enjoyed your stay . We also love how quiet the road is - makes such a difference not to have cars passing . Nikky Property Owner

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
