Amble Cottages
Sandwiched between rolling countryside and never-ending beaches
at the mouth of the River Coquet, an Amble holiday cottage is
perfectly positioned to experience this beautiful corner of
Northumberland.
A thriving fishing centre and 'the friendliest port',
Amble's harbour is strewn with boats and simply buzzes when the
catch-of-the-day arrives - just take a stroll along the quayside
for a front-row view. Make sure you stop by on a Sunday too, when
there's a fantastic harbour-front market. Amble is also a haven
for leisure sailing and boasts a superb marina lined with yachts.
Other water sports include kayaking, windsurfing and surfing.
A good way to get to know Amble is to follow the Town Trail -
look out for the huge sundial and take note of the shops,
restaurants and pubs. There are lovely walks around and about -
along the coast to the Hauxley Nature Reserve, or down the river to
Warkworth, a picturesque village famous for its splendid castle and
brimming with tempting shops and eateries.
One of the most popular
things to do in Amble would be to have fun with the family on
the long sweep of golden beach. Go cycling on the renowned Coast
and Castles Cycle Route, which runs close by. Or watch the kids let
off steam at the indoor play centre.
Interested in wildlife? Visit the Northumberland Seabird Centre
or take a boat trip around Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve for
puffins, terns, eider ducks - even roseate terns.
And with local attractions like Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick
Garden a stone's throw away from your fantastic Amble
accommodation, there should be ample entertainment for everyone on
an Amble cottage holiday.
