  • "The property was fabulous but I would have to say it would be better if the listing stated here was no parking and especially as we got trapped in twice when parking along the fence line on the advertised road, the property was amazing and the levels of equipment was excellent, clean and serviceable."

    There is a risk of damaging your car if you try to get it on the drive. There are restrictions on Queens Street which are 1 hour with no returns for 1 hour between 0900hrs and 1700hrs Monday to Saturday for information.

    Great location with views of the marina. The welcome pack was the best! The courtyard was fine for our Ford C Max, my husband found it easier to reverse in. Kitchen had everything we needed. Walked to harbour in 5 minutes with lovely pubs and restaurants. Great base for the rest of Northumberland and will be back.

The Old Smithy is a 200 year old former BlackSmiths and offers well-presented accommodation, ideal for a family getaway to the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland. With separate rooms on the ground-floor, guests can gather in the elegant sitting room, take a seat in the stylish dining room, or spend time preparing food in the fully-fitted kitchen. All the rooms are light and airy, and the property exudes a warm, welcoming vibe. A spacious courtyard outside provides plenty of room for children and pets to run around safely in an enclosed space, while the adults can make the most of the patio furniture as they soak up the sunshine. There is even a barbecue, so if the weather allows it, why not fire it up and enjoy some alfresco dining? When it’s time for bed, make your way to any of the three delightful bedrooms, choosing between a double, a twin, and a children’s bunk bedroom. After a rejuvenating night’s sleep and a refreshing shower in the contemporary shower room, you’re ready to go and explore. The Old Smithy is a wonderful base from which to discover the delights of the region, with the property already in the heart of the bustling seaport of Amble. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches, and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks, and boat trips around the island can be arranged. Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
