  • "The property is a large building with spacious rooms and a fabulous vaulted ceiling, and ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area."

However, some things are begining to look a bit tired, and in need of updating. The oven was dirty on arrival and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a long time, so it was unusable. The kitchen sink and hob were also dirty, which we had to clean before we could use them. A deep clean is needed in all the shower rooms, grouting, sealant, showerheads and toilets are all stained. The bed linen is looking tired and well used and needs updating. The garden is a good size and dog friendly, but not dog proof, one of the resident dogs came in under the gate and attacked and bit our dog, which unnerved him for the rest of our stay. A curtain or privacy screen is needed on the back door, especially as a bathroom is opposite it. No outside bins for rubbish were provided or for recycling, (we took our recycling home with us).

  • "The Manor is a truly beautiful place to spend time making memories."

The heating was on and the place was well equipped with wonderful views all around. We even saw the Arrora iout to the north in the dark sky. Just a few niggles…. Some beds did not have mattress covers on !!!!! Bath mats would have been useful both in and outside of the baths and a note about where to place the garbage when they were full.

  • "Our party - four couples who met at university in 1962 - thoroughly enjoyed our week at Cromwell's Manor."

We thought it was excellent value for money, set in an area with lots of good walks, interesting churches - Malpas and Nantwich in particular - and other gardens and properties worth visiting. The house is very well equipped, generously heated and attractively furnished with lots of space. The beds were comfortable and all the bathrooms were well appointed. We were grateful for the farm's generator when bad weather caused a brief interruption to the mains electricity supply so thanks to the owners for their prompt assistance. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property but the owners may care to consider a couple of suggestions. There were instruction books for all the kitchen and other equipment but it might be useful to have a folder with general information about recycling policies, rubbish collection, and other useful contacts - doctors, dentists etc - and perhaps leaflets about local attractions. It would certainly be fascinating to have information about the property itself, with its historical connections (do walk across the grassy bank to see the old chapel). It might also be worth thinking about supplying an extra fridge, particularly for summer lets, though the wine cooler was very welcome (and we made good use of it). A splendid reunion in a very pleasant property.

  • "We had the most fantastic stay at this property."

There was a wonderful welcome pack greeting us when we arrived. The property had pretty much everything we needed and more - e.g. kitchen gadgets, books, games, well stocked toy box, to name a few. We had a minor incident whereby the property (or indeed very close to the property) was struck by lightning and wiped out the router. Communicated with the owner who sent somebody round very quickly to check everything was ok. Router couldn't be revived on this occasion but did not have any negative impact to our stay. I could not recommend this property enough.

  • "The property was in a lovely location and very well equipped,it was also lovely and warm."

A couple of things just let it down slightly, there were a lot of cobwebs around so maybe in need of a deep clean. Also we could not find an information pack telling us anything of the history of the house or where the recycling bin was located or when they were collected.

  • "The house is stunning, even better than in the photos, spacious , room with ensuites for 3 couples were perfect, great outdoor area, Lovely touches, like bathroom , kitchen & cleaning product's."

..everything thought of! It's beautifully furnished and is cosy, Comfy beds & generally very well equipped, few things we left a note about for making the next guests stay perfect, My only criticism was after paying the balance I messaged sykes to request as in the listing, that the large king room with walking shower could be made into 2 singles...as this for us was very important, they said they had passed the details on, and request noted, I contacted a few weeks before the owner by the given mobile number...to follow up, I was told they hadn't received the request , and the property had been made up ready...and they'd try to change? Puzzled me as the property was fully booked before we went??...unfortunately on arrival it was not as I had requested which was not great...so this wasn't a good start

  • "Amazing first impression exceeds the pictures."

So roomy and comfortable. Lovely rural setting yet close enough to plenty of activities. We counted 10 pubs/eating places within 10-15 minutes. Well equipped with even a toy chest. Plenty of parking space. A wonderful family stay. One point was the lack of recycling and all the bins by the gate were overflowing on arrival and departure.

About the location

BUNBURY

Nantwich 7.8 miles; Chester 13.9 miles; Stoke-on-Trent 26 miles.

The village of Bunbury lies at the western edge of the Cheshire Plain some 3 miles from Tarporley and 12 miles southeast of the city of Chester. Little is known of its history prior to the Norman conquest but it is generally accepted that the name is of Saxon origin and it is thought that there was a Christian place of worship on the site of the present parish church long before 1066. Early references to the settlement call it Bunan byrig, the stronghold of Buna. The village today has a supermarket, three pubs and the striking St Boniface Church which is recorded in the National Heritage List of England as a designated Grade I listed building. Eight miles away lies the popular market town of Nantwich, home to regular markets throughout the week and monthly farmer’s market showcasing the best of produce from the local area, whilst there are also many events throughout the year including The Jazz and Blues Music Festival at Easter and the famous Cheese Awards in July. Further afield lies the historic, walled city of Chester, filled with a range of independent shops and welcoming eateries catering for all taste buds. Make memories in the North West from Bunbury.
