  • "The house itself was lovely however the description of getting to the house and locality to a pub was in accurate."

The pub is 1 mile from the bottom of the 1. 5 mile pot holed dirt farm track to the house so not 1 mile as advertised and very unsuitable for most cars unless a 4 wheel drive and should have been in the particulars. The kitchen facilities were lacking for a celebration as only 4 champagne glasses for a group of 10, obviously not properly checked and replaced between booking so disappointing. The hot tub was unusable as so over chlorinated it was uncomfortable to use so that again was very disappointing and should be sorted out as paid for something and couldn’t use. I did pick this up with the company afterwards but was not acknowledged. As I say the house itself once you got to it was lovely but wouldn’t return due to issues above and customer service after booking.

Thank you for your feedback. If you look at the property description on Sykes website it states shop 2.8 miles pub 3.4 miles. I have checked the guests handbook which gives no distance to the pub, so not sure where your assertion of 1 mile to the pub comes from.Similarly the details on Sykes website state 'The property is positioned on a working farm, home to an array of wildlife, and is accessed by a 1.2km stone private farm track'. The cleaners access it in ordinary cars.If you had contacted Sykes or myself we would have arranged extra champagne glasses for you, likewise if you had brought the hot tub to our attention this could have been sorted. There are full instructions and test strips on site.We have to sanitise the hot tub to protect guests health .The property manager was contacted but these issues not raised with her in your texts. They were not ignored .We are sorry to have to charge for significant breakages but that is clear in the booking information.we note you were unhappy with this . • "A lovely holiday home with all the facilities we wanted."

Ideal for our break with a number of small children. We used and enjoyed the outside garden space as well as the indoor spaces. Internet access was not good but you might not be able to improve this. The hot tub was over chlorinated and we didn't feel we wanted to be exposed to that. Some plastic plates, bowls and cups for young children would be useful. Kerry the manager was helpful and prompt in providing bedding when requested. Thank you

Many thanks for your feedback J We have purchased some Ikea plastic Childrens plates ,cups and cutlery sets for our younger guests as you suggested .There are test strips supplied for the Chlorine in the hot tub to confirm it is within the approved range to sanitise (essential ) but not be unpleasant .I have reiterarated to the cleaning crew the instructions on preparing the Hot tub for each guests .We purchased the single bed linen for your visit . Sorry about the wifi it is definitely rural broadband on top of the hill in Bodenham !! Regards Angie and Steve. Property Owner

  • "The directions were a little confusing, there is no ivy covered wall but we found it in the end."

A stunning house in an even more stunning surrounding farm. The pictures don’t do it justice. We were thrilled to see a hare running in front of the car and loads of pheasant in the drive in. Our only slight disappointment was the hot tub smelt so strongly of chemicals we didn’t use it. The kitchen would benefit from basics being provided, cooking oil, enough dishwasher tabs for the weekend etc but otherwise very well stocked with pans, knives, glassware. We were able to make a few big meals with no issues. The bedrooms are very comfortable with en-suites in every room which was a really nice touch. Some strange plastic flowers dotted around which seem totally out of sync with the rest of the otherwise tasteful decor. An amazing place we will try to come again in the warmer months.

Thank you P for your review.Glad you enjoyed the wildlife and the cottage. Angie and Steve Owners Property Owner

  • "Just returned from a fabulous stay at Hen House for my partner's 40th birthday."

The cottage, grounds and views are absolutely beautiful. The kitchen is well appointed, and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Beds are extremely comfortable and having an ensuite in every room was a welcome bonus as there was never a queue to use the bathroom! My only negative would be that the towels are on the small side, and that no towels are provided for use in the hot tub. Some bigger bath sheets and extra towels for guests for the hot tub would really make a difference to the overall experience. The house manager was in contact via text and was very responsive and helpful. She even text the morning that we were leaving to let us know that the village was flooded so that we could plan an alternative route home! Would thoroughly recommend a stay here; I'm busy trying to find an excuse to come back! As a side note; we visited Hampton Court Castle during our stay and had a lovely day out there. There's beautiful gardens, trails for children, a cafe, play area, hedge maze and even a hidden waterfall, all a stone's throw from Hen House and well worth a visit.

  • "Henhouse Farm is a fantastic property, and was ideal for our stay (4 couples in their 50s)."

The property is up a long track, and is not suitable for some vehicles. It is well equipped, and the beds were comfortable, but the bed linen and towels had seen better days. There were also no oven gloves! The negatives are only minor, but make the difference between 4 & 5 stars.

Thanks Stephen, all bed linen and towels renewed new cleaners appointed and property manager appointed to ensure standards and facilities are kept up to scratch . Two new pairs of oven gloves supplied . Angie and Steve ( Owners ) Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at this cottage."

Beds were very comfortable, fresh sheets and towels. My only feedback would be to provide a broom, dust pan and brush or cordless vacuum. Also we did not know how the heating worked there was no instructions or comments on the heating in the book at the house. After a call to the property manager they advised it was all automatic and did agree to turn it up. I would advise that this is written down as we had no idea. But honestly a beautiful place, can’t wait to return.

Thanks for your Feedback Monique .There was a both a brush and dustpan and brush provided in the Cottage fit out so I can only apologise if they were not there on your visit .We are due a stock take now and if they have disappeared we will replace them .Good suggestion on note re heating Guests are not mind readers and we should have included it .It will be sorted .Once again thank you for your review and w are glad you enjoyed your stay on the farm . • "Would highly recommend this property with it's beautiful large kitchen and bright conservatory."

The interior décor was immaculate and the beds really comfortable. We had a lovely stay. Just be aware. If all the rooms are to be occupied then there are not enough big cooking pots to cook for everybody. The pans are big enough for 6 max. We were able to send a message to my sister who brought some with her. As this property is beautifully isolated it is not a little walk to get food at the pub, but such a lovely area for country walks. We made full use of the wood burner and ordered in logs locally for this purpose. The showers were amazing, hot and powerful! Unfortunately the baths upstairs ran only luke-warm. Chose this cottage for the love of baths ,of which there are plenty. If this could be resolve we would choose to stay again. As a family birthday gathering we could not have chosen a more comfortable place.

The decor and furnishings were beautiful,The countryside was stunning. We would definately like to return at sometime. [Our only comment would be that we hadnt been left enough towels and a few of the ones that had been left were bleach stained and old.It wasn"t a problem but felt we should mention. Please thank the owner for agreeing to let us to take two dogs ,we did however only have one with us.] These comments need not be published.

Dear Mrs W , thank you for your feedback; We have recently purchased new towels and there should be at least one bath towel and one hand towel per guest .We will of course take this up with the cleaning contractors and apologise for any inconvenience caused ..
