  • "Lovely cottage in a great position close to shops and restaurants for a slightly out of season visit."

The cottage was characterful and had a warmth and charm. Whilst the inside was well equipped, clean and cosy it is a little let down by the outside which could be benefit was a little TLC.. a clean of windows and maintenance of drains.

  • "We had a splendid stay over Christmas."

Very comfortable and warm, so much so that we only used the fireplace once (and I had worried about getting enough wood - the Co -op does stock bags). Very well situated and cozier than the photographs suggest. Only a short walk to the beach to admire the sea or to the pub to admire the beer. Would recommend and consider going again. Many thanks to the caretakers.

We've stayed here lots of times main bedroom is great smaller bedroom can be a little noisy if someone staying next door having a garden is great as the weather was beautiful close to amenities in town and nice walks for the dog

  • "The floors had not been vacuumed(note on hoover in cupboard saying end missing), lots of bits on sofas, cooker had not been cleaned, bits of food on hob and on grill)."

Outside windows dirty and covered in cobwebs.Sills between double glazing full of dead insects and grime. No lightbulb in lamp on right side of double bed and double socket below not working at all. Large pieces of plaster missing below radiator in sitting room. In garden climbers had been cut but cuttings not removed. Lovely old house but as others have commented in need of a deep clean and updated maintenance

  • "Lavender Cottage is a beautiful old building."

The sitting room has lots of room for four people and the house is in a great location. The bedrooms are bright and spacious. As you would expect from a 17c building, it is quirky and you have to expect things like the internal doors not shutting and getting used to ducking your head to avoid the low beams. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bed linen and bath towels were crisp and clean. Sadly though this property was very let down by; * the garden which was a big disappointment as it clearly has not been cared for at all. The shrubs in the pots at the end of the garden were dead. The plants were all very over grown particularly a every vicious old rose bush, the beautiful apple tree is so low and over grown that you have to stoop to walk up the garden. To the left of the back door was a pile of discarded and dirty carpet. For want of a days hard work this could all be improved and would make a huge difference to the quality and enjoyment of staying there. * the house is in need of a deep clean, the windows most particularly which had dirt, cobwebs etc between the external windows and double glazing in the sitting room. * the bathroom had received a good “between tenants” clean but again it needs a deal clean in all of the floors corners etc.

  • "3 night stay in Lavender Cottage over New Year 2022."

We expected the interiors to be quite basic and they were...partly in keeping with the 'higgledy-piggledy' nature of the 16th Century cottage, but it did feel pretty sparse and not very 'loved'. The highlight of the whole house was the stove/fireplace which gave a lovely centre to the living space and was why we chose the cottage over another similarly priced one in the town.
