Aldeburgh Cottages
Take time out on East Suffolk's Heritage Coast in one of our
Aldeburgh cottages - perfect for a quiet, relaxing
break by the sea.
Picture an old-fashioned prom edged with pastel-painted houses. A
pebble beach lined

with fishermen's huts. A high street
made for browsing and all sorts of places to eat and drink from
posh nosh to fish 'n chips. Look out for the Lifeboat Station
and also Moot Hall, an imposing timber-framed building housing an
interesting local museum.
Stroll along the beach to see Maggi
Hambling's controversial 'Scallop'
sculpture. Continue on to Thorpeness, a former fantasy
holiday village associated with Peter Pan, featuring mock Tudor and
Jacobean architecture as well as a boating lake.
Aldeburgh cottages and fantastic festivals
Composer Benjamin Britten spent most of his life
here and founded the renowned Aldeburgh Music Festival, an
extravaganza of classical concerts performed every June in the
splendid grand hall of Snape Maltings. (Should you
stay at a different time, the Maltings is still a wonderful place
to visit, with shops, eateries and lovely walks across reed
beds.)
If culinary master-classes and sampling mouth-watering local
produce are more up your street, time your stay in an Aldeburgh
cottage around the Food and Drink Festival, highly
popular and attracting a string of leading chefs.
Or opt for the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival and enjoy workshops
with respected writers and rising talent.
What else? River trips, sailing, golf, cinema - entertainment to
suit every mood. And as all our Aldeburgh cottages nestle amid an
AONB, expect amazing scenery and outdoor activities all around.
