• "A beautiful cottage in an excellent location."

  Spotless and extremely well equipped with everything you need. Super walks on your doorstep and all the facilities of Middleham within 100 yards. Loved watching the racehorses going through the village on the way to the gallops. Everyone was very friendly and a shout out to the new landlords of the Dante Arms. Would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to explore this area of the Yorkshire Dales.

• "Middle Cottage was the most lovely place to stay."

  Incredibly clean and tidy. All the little extras (tea bags, coffee, dishwasher tablets, logs for the fire to name but a few) makes a massive difference. We’ve been to Middleham 4 times now and it is the most perfect place to stay. Beautiful walks on the doorstep. Race horses riding through the village going up to the gallops. Friendly people. So many places to visit nearby. Fantastic pubs. We could happily stay here for a month and not get bored. Currently planning our next visit as there is still so much that we haven’t done yet. Cannot recommend this highly enough t to anyone

• "Lovely characterful cottage."

  Didn't realise the garden was so steep, so was unable to use, due to knee issues. Close to all amenities and local tourist hotspots. (aka Ripon and Richmond).Some lovely backwater villages. Reeth, and Masham, were our favoirites. Though Leyburn was quite charming also. And the weather held. All in all a good week.

• "Stayed in Middle Cottage for 1 week ."

  It’s a warm cozy cottage with everything you need .Essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar etc were all provided ,which is more than can be said for some holiday rentals I’ve stayed in , and it was spotlessly clean throughout .We were fortunate enough to have a few days of lovely weather so enjoyed the patio outside .Its within easy walking distance to village centre, and plenty of walks to enjoy with or without a dog . We unfortunately left an item behind but the owners were very helpful and had it returned to us promptly . I will definitely return and would certainly recommend .

• "Great cottage and really good location."

  Parking outside to drop luggage off is not easy ..have to drive up and reverse out. Annoyingly someone parks a car in a awkward place making it even more difficult to reverse out ( if you are not a confident driver). However Middle cottage amazing and will be returning ...very clean and kept to a very high standard ....

• "Fabulous cottage, photos don't do it justice."

  Quality decor and furnishings and I have never come across a better equipped kitchen. Lovely quiet position, comfy bed and blackout curtains. Loved the dressing room. I could not fault Muddle Cottage at all. We have stayed in a lot of cottages and this ranks as one of the best. Loved sitting out in the private terraced garden, very dog secure. If you're looking to stay in this area, look no further.

• "Bit strange having to remove own rubbish."

  It was going to be difficult to travel with it in an already full car so having to separate it on the market square into each compartment wasn't very nice, especially with some of the stares we were getting but otherwise a very nice and comfortable cottage.

• "We had a wonderful return stay at Middle Cottage."

  We love this cottage, tucked away in a quiet location off the Main Street but so close to the village pubs, shop and fish and chip shop! The cottage is very clean and so well equipped ; everything has been carefully thought about to make it a very special place to stay . We love the location and being able to walk from the village on numerous walks along the river Cover in all directions without having to drive is extra special. The village of Leyburn is a few miles across the river Ure which has more amenities. Middleham is an interesting village for historians due to its castle and it is wonderful to see the race horses going through the village every morning on the way to the gallops. We would definitely love to return again to Middle Cottage.

• "We were delighted with the cottage, it was very comfortable and welcoming, and in a great location."

  The facilities were excellent, the cottage decor was homely and traditional and it instantly gave us the 'holiday on the countryside' feel. The owners had very thoughtfully left us enough logs and kindling to create a roaring fire for the duration of our stay and the kitchen was very well stocked. We didn't use the facilities at the rear of the property, but I imagine a Sumner or autumn evening would be very relaxing on the terrace. We would definitely return.

• "This is a lovely cottage and so conveniently placed for the Dales."

  (I was born and lived in Coverdale for 27 years and have many friends and family in the area. Our dog, a bearded collie, was comfortable there, and he loved the early morning walks up behind the castle. Our visit was a sad one - a close relative’s funeral and we were really happy that the cottage could facilitate two nights. Highly recommended and we would like to visit again. Great support from the Sykes team when we struggled with the key code. Lovely neighbour who also helped out.

• "I think the springs on the mattress are giving up the ghost, you seem to sink into it but don’t come back up and maybe refresh the furniture in the living room."

• "Lovely clean and comfortable cottage with great facilities."

  We decided to leave our Black Labrador at home as we were visiting a stable yard where dogs were not allowed. Glad we did as the garden and the cottage would have been a little too small for him. Would be fine for smaller dogs though. Parking in the town square is easy but not so easy outside the cottage as up a narrow lane with scant space to turn back around. May be fine for smaller cars than ours. However these are minor points because we loved the cottage and the location in Middleham is perfect.

• "We enjoyed a lovely stay in this delightful cottage ."

  Everything was very good quality , it was very clean and everything was in good order. The cottage is on a lane with no passing traffic so lovely and peaceful , a short walk from the village centre where we managed to find a parking spot every day . The village has three pubs and a chip shop and a general food store, very handy .The only downside to our stay was the steep steps inside and out ,I found it difficult ,but I have mobility issues .Would recommend this property ,but beware of the steps . • "We enjoyed our stay in this delightful cottage."

  The only reason we wouldn't stay again was the garden was unsuitable for our dogs. This is because we have Basset Hounds and the steps in the lovely terraced garden were far to steep for them, especially to come down.

  It was brilliant, lovely, fresh, clean, well maintained, interesting, characterful and had everything we needed. More often than not we are usually disappointed in the majority of accommodation we have experienced over the years and my catch phrase has become "why don't these people live in their rental accommodation for a while, then they would know what's missing" Yours was faultless!

• "It was really nice to have so much space upstairs."

  It could easily have been marketed as a three bed cottage and squashed lots of people in, but they didn't. And it gave it a real air of luxury. It is rare to find a cottage equipped so well. Everything was of lovely quality and functioned perfectly. We enjoyed sitting out and up in the terraced garden. Middleham is a very nice village.

  Furnishings are of a good standard. It was immaculately clean. For our personal preference the mattress was far too soft. Upstairs is light and airy, downstairs, due to the aspect being a wall, it was very dark and a little oppressive. This is very little that can be done about this.

• "Cottage was purfect, however, Sykes was another matter."

  You gave two contact numbers, one was a number of a person who had not owned the cottage for over a year and asked me to inform you. I tried to contact you many times but could not get through. So my opinion is Sykes is useless if you need to get through to them. I feel you are also letting your cottage owners down on this front. I eventually got through on the other number provided to find a very helpful cottage owner who gave me all the information needed. I wonder what your purpose actually is at the moment. Cottage was lovely and would highly recommend the cottage.

  Can highly recommend the Tack Room Restaurant at the Wensleydale. The cottage is better than the photos suggest. Spotlessly clean and well-provisioned. Good powerful shower, really comfy bed. Can definitely recommend.

• "Cottage was in a great location just off the square, comfy bed although far to soft for me but my husband loved it, very cosy, great having dressing room for clothes and plenty of kitchen utensils etc."

  Radiators did not come on upstairs even when turned on. In the cottage description it does not mention the steep steps up from the back door and the narrow lane to the cottage anyone with a bigger car than mine may struggle as nowhere to turn round so tricky to reverse when there are parked cars lower down. Overall a lovely cottage and we would consider going again.

• "The cottage was ideally placed as a base for the area, well-appointed and comfortable."

  We had one or two small problems - fridge light not working, DVD player remote not working - and the owners very quickly came round and sorted everything out, even replacing the TV and DVD player with new ones! The only downsides were access to the cottage by car, as it's on a very narrow lane which is a cul-de-sac, with no way to turn round, and it was difficult to find parking space nearby, as it was early August in school holiday season, so the town was busy and lively and the square full of parked cars. These were relatively minor problems compared to the benefits, though.

• "The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed ."

  There were clear notices to advise us of recycling and where to buy items . The bed was so comfortable with crisp clean bed linen nicely presented . The cottage was well placed for all main attractions. Loved the world of James Herriot the main reason for our visit .
