  • "Lovely little cottage, perfect for 3 of us."

Would have liked a few more cleaning products to have been left, like cloths, dettol for surfaces etc, but aldi & lidl down the round so wasn't a problem. Outdoor alarm clock was handy, though if they could get the cockeral to delay another hour or so would have been even better.

Dear Debbie Thank you for taking the time to review baytree cottage and your stay with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, It was lovely meeting you all. Thank you for your comments about cleaning products, we are a bit conscious about leaving to many chemicals in the cottage as we have alot of family's that stay with children!! However we will leave in a safe place and let guests know. We have also had a word with Mr Cockerell about the his timing, and I understand that it should be OK going forward:)) Thanks again Hope to see you again in the near future. • "The cottage was furnished nicely, the living room in particular."

The kitchen would benefit from better chopping knives and would feel a bit tight if 6 people were staying and sitting round the large table. We were staying during a cold, windy week and the cottage felt cold. The location was handy, close enough to walk into Alnwick and a short drive to the coast. The views from the window were a little disappointing - the road and the farm machinery and buildings were the main things we saw - but looking past them we could see the fields. Some other places we've stayed had small amounts of tea, coffee, sugar and salt/pepper to get visitors going before they visit the shops. Now that COVID restrictions have been dropped, this might be a nice touch. We did appreciate the bottle of wine, thank you.

Dear Joanne Thank you for choosing baytree cottage for your stay in Northumberland. We are delighted to hear that you liked the set up and furnishings in the cottage. Baytree cottage is indeed a magical place to stay at, on the farm, as every season has a completely different view/aspect with its own charm. We thank you for your feedback on provisions, all addressed now. We do hope that you return to enjoy more of Northumberland. All the best Andrew Property Owner

The owners were most helpful with advice finding the footpaths and cycle paths from the cottage as well as what else to see locally. We were undoubtedly helped by the warmest weather in Northumberland in 25 years, but will definitely return. It would be great to visit in colder months and sit by the woodburning stove.

  • "The location of the cottage was great for Alnwick, Alnmouth and beyond."

There was actually a footpath all the way into Alnwick which we would have used if we didn't have little ones with us and that would have saved us £3 on parking at the castle/gardens. The cottage was clean and very well equipped, despite having some things removed due to Covid. The host was very friendly and came to make sure everything was okay when we arrived and departed. We also enjoyed watching the cows in the field across the road, especially at feeding time. We had a small issue with the Wifi, which was remedied quickly, and I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage for someone wanting to stay in the area. It was a real home from home.

Hi nicola Thank you for staying with us with your family and enjoying the holidays despite covid. The cottage has now been put back to its former glory and is very homely ,comfortable cosy. Extremely clean on arrival. Surprise bottle of wine waiting for us too! Good amount of kitchen utensils available, plenty of glasses, cups, plates, pots and pans. Lovely warm and welcoming farmhouse-type living room with real fire, which was very welcome on a typically colder English summer’s day! Comfy warm beds. The only thing to make it better would be a stronger shower, but water pressure can’t always be helped! Very friendly greeting from the owners and helpful in their advice of walks to enjoy. We love Northumberland generally but would definitely use this cottage again.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
