  • "The location is ideal and couldn’t be better."

Everything is to hand. This is our second year at this “half”of the property and we have already booked the other half for next year. This must prove our feelings for Glam Y Don Bach. The change is purely on the grounds of size.only.

  • "We had an excellent stay at Glan Y Don Bach."

It was very comfortable and clean, with excellent views over the bay. It has a fantastic location, minutes from the amenities of Abersoch and its wonderful beaches. There are plenty of eateries around a minute or two from the doorstep. The harbour town of Abersoch affords an easy drive to Caernarfon and surrounding towns. Snowdonia and the mountains are an easy drive as is the wonderful Italianate town of Portmerion. Will we be back…. Absolutely! We have visited before and will certainly be back.

We came on holiday for a bit of peace and quiet and unfortunately didn’t get it .

The cottage itself is lovely and was well equipped for everything we needed and the communication from start to finish was very comprehensive and informative. The area is excellent and has some lovely walks and views all around, so glad we visited. The only very minor issue was the high chair in the property was a little dated and in need of TLC. Other than that it was all excellent

An absolutely unbeatable location, the views from the main bedroom are jaw droppingly beautiful and a 1 minute walk from all the shops and eateries of Abersoch. We were told that Glan Y Don (Bach:small) is the oldest cottage in the town, it is warm and cosy, has lots of room for storage and every facility you would need, including car parking. Brilliant!

Cottage was just as advertised, and being back in Abersoch and the Llyn after many years of not been there brought back many happy memories.

  • "Only problem I had was with the key box outside which would not close but I did inform the owner and the locks on the 2 external doors were quite stiff , salt sea air ."

The stairs in this property are in character but narrow , so fine for a small person like me but a larger/taller person may find tricky . Location , facilities within the cottage and view fabulous . Good sized bathroom is downstairs . Having 1 parking spot within the property off the road is invaluable .As I went after 15th Sept parking out of the drive would not have been a problem overnight as there is some parking available on the road but peak season it is not possible . So for a party bringing more than 1 car , beware of the very limited parking in the area . The drive is shared with the cottage attached and they have 1 space also but plenty of room for 2 good sized cars for the 2 spaces . The small twin bed room is small , fine for kids but 2 adults would find ' cosy ' . The main double bed with 2 windows of views of the harbour and beach is lovely .

  • "Great welcome email, great instructions, fantastic location, owner happy for us to have a slightly later checkout on our last day (we left at 0930), kitchen very well stocked with everything you could need, BUT, Overall cleanliness poor (especially floors, spider webs everywhere, stained sheet) despite details of a deep clean being mentioned."

All ornaments /cushions removed - not a pattern our friends had at their rentals in Abersoch - didn't help the overall look of the property. Everything mismatched and done on the cheap upstairs. Curtains thin/unlined, everyone awake from 4am due to bright light in the bedrooms as a result - owner contacted and did provide 1 blackout blind - much appreciated but only for 1 of 4 windows. Owner inadvertently sent a text to me in Welsh - which basically said I was trouble and a few other things! Very unprofessional considering I contacted them twice - once prior to arrival to ask for a bit of leeway on checkout and once re the curtain situation. I'm sure other renters contact a lot more than I did.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and in a great position. The views are lovely. Parking in the drive for 1 car is a bonus. It's a 2 minute walk in to Abersoch which has a variety of bars, shops and places to eat. Wifi has now been added and worked very well. We are already looking at booking the cottage again.

Nothing marched , carpets, curtains, rugs , upholstery and lamps all kinds of odds and ends of colours.. dirty upholstery in lounge on easy chairs , lumpy old mattresses in twin bedroom with spring sticking up... • "This fantastically located property is in need of some investment and a large amount of tender loving care - it has huge potential but we would question the "superb" billing on your website."

It occupies a superb location in Abersoch village overlooking the beach / harbour, with close proximity to some well known shopping brands, eateries and hostelries, offering free parking on site, a pleasant garden suitable for a barbeque and a fantastic view from the windows along the Llyn Peninsula to Snowdonia. The owner provided a very comprehensive email outlining the arrangements for arrival and tips on where to go for local services. Glan y Don Bach as a facility is however in need of some attention: - There is a strong overpowering smell of fuel oil in the kitchen from the boiler (owners were made aware, but did nothing about it). - The front bedroom was damp, despite attempts to air the room by ourselves, there are multiple drawer scent sachets to hide the aroma, so we are assuming the owners know about this. - The bedroom furniture in the front room is in a poor state of repair, with drawers unusable and beds which were uncomfortable, with the two beds in the back room only suitable for small children, not adults. - The cottage has a very narrow staircase not really suitable for individuals with mobility issues or pregnant. - The property is in need of a deep clean, with a stained rug, cobwebs and dust, along with light bulbs which kept blowing. - Finally the bathroom is in need of freshening up and in some areas requiring repairs.

  • "A good deep clean would be good if I'm leaving an honest review."

Curtains where dirty and dusting seems to only done in places that are immediately visible. When we arrived the two children's highchairs where disgusting and unable to be cleaned. We contacted the owner who said she was unaware and they replaced them quickly with another highchair later in the day when we was out. (We saw the old highchairs later in the day at the house next door but one so guessing the owners live there) Quite a small house so kept banging into things quiet a bit but a good location. Very often there were large camper vans parked right outside most of the day so blocking most of the view.

We had a great week, the weather was cold but very sunny and the heating was more than adequate. The fireplace can't be used but we put candles in it and made a focal point for the room. plenty of space and storage facilities, not loads of clutter and pointless ornamentation as we've experienced at other places we've stayed. Great!!!!

30 am to empty bins and a road sweeper cleaning up flashing lights and beeping noises, I know the cottage is in the village but it’s opposite big bins where everyone sits and eats fish and chips but you don’t want to be woken from this on your holiday!!!! Beautiful views of the sea from the upstairs front bedroom, very limited television channels, and you have to share parking with next door who come and go next to your cottage.

The last was 2016 when I mentioned the cleanliness of the property then which really wasn't as good as the previous years. Particularly the bathroom and the poor Shower which is probably due to the water pressure. We had fab weather though!! Unsure we will stay there again. Sorry.

That is my only gripe otherwise what an excellent holiday cottage situated in such a prime location.

About the location

ABERSOCH

Pwllheli 6 miles.

The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
