• "We love Byre Cottage."

  This was our 5th or 6yh time here. Proper home from home. Clean n comfortable. Lovely big wet room. Bedroom is so spacious. Plenty of facilities supplied. Good location too. Massive gardens to enjoy. 2 patios. We take bird seed because we enjoy watching them on the feeders from the sun room. Also a regular visitor is the hare. Pheasant came into garden couple times too.

  There are plenty of places to visit such as Ckirk and Powis Castles. Oswestry and Shrewsbury were a delight to visit. We shall definitly be returning in the future.

  This was because it was a surprise 70th birthday gift. We have stayed here before and it is my favourite holiday cottage so I was delighted when I knew I was going there again. The cottage is so so comfortable and well equipped. We spend most of our time in the sun room when not out and about. Just so relaxing. There is a large wet room. Twin beds in the spacious bedroom are very comfortable. There are no negatives at all. Love it. We are hoping to go again next year.

• "Amazing holiday cottage."

  Nicely furnished and comfortable with a superb sunroom. Nice having it’s own drive too. Mostly nice and clean. But lots of cobwebs everywhere. Just needs a feather duster. Lack of some basic items. Some decent knives and a chopping board. But these are just very small points. Overall this is a beautiful holiday cottage. Others have mentioned the traffic noise. This is an issue. But you soon get used to it and it wouldn’t prevent us from staying there again. Also a very useful barn attached, where bikes etc can be stored.

• "We had a thoroughly enjoyable week in Byre Cottage, unmarred by any faults or omissions on the owner's part."

  We loved the sun room particularly and were thrilled to see hare(s) in the field. On one occasion a hare came within a few feet of the french windows. If I were to suggest any improvements, they would include finishing off the ground outside the bedroom window, which spoilt the view of the climbing rose as it was rough and weedy, and the same with the patch between the exterior sitting-out area and the whirlybird washing line, which was also rough and weedy. Inside, the comfort of the sitting area could be improved with a small settee and a large mat or rug on the vast wooden floor area -their lack must be even more noticeable in winter. Again not essential, but we had a bedside radio in each of the two cottages we rented last year. Finally, this is out of the control of the owner I know, but we found that although the wonderful Old Three Pigeons pub and restaurant is only one mile distant, It is impossible to walk there and back as there is no continuous footpath on either side of the road. In fact it is not possible to walk anywhere from the cottage on what is the (now) bypassed A5.

  Shame we didn't meet the owner though that would have been nice, but I guess he was working. The roads were rather noisy but we enjoyed a change of scenery. Thanks.

  So peaceful and certainly would have no hesitation in visiting again. Take extra tea towels and hand towels for kitchen and a footstool to put your feet up in the lounge. Oh, and don't forget to take a pint of milk with you. Lovely comfy beds and a great wet room. Good local shop at the garage about a mile away in the village. Visited Shrewsbury, Ellesmere, Oswestry and our favourite ..Plas Newydd in Llangollen. Fascinating, and also has a nice cafe for lunch. Loved the wildlife (hares in the garden) and the owner was so friendly but not intrusive. A beautiful place to wind down. Recommend thoroughly.

  Located between Shrewsbury and Oswestry close to the A5, there were so many places of interest within 45 minutesw travel by car - Ironbridge, Coalport, David Austin Rose Centre, RAF Cosford Museum and the British Ironwork centre and Sculture Park (Fabulous). The only point we would make is that some people might find the taste of the tap water unpleasant and revert to bottled water as we did.

  1st time was almost 2 years ago. You cannot get any better. It.s clean comfortable warm and it has everything supplied that you would need. Eddie and Sylvia are such a friendly helpful couple although we didn't need them during our stay but they are there if you did. The sun lounge is where we spent all of our time when we in the cottage. watching the variety of birds at the feeders. The is a large wet room. The bedroom has twin beds and they are so comfortable. There is nothing to find fault with. We were sad to be leaving but we will certainly be back.

  Everything was available that we needed. Lovely gardens on all sides and lovely views. We have booked to come back again in September as there are lots of places we didn’t get to visit this time. The only suggestion I have that would improve the comfort is to have a comfy sofa in the lounge to watch tv. Owners were brilliant and there if you needed them.

  The kitchen is very well equiped and the whole place is spotlessly clean and furniture very comfortable. Although you can hear the traffic on the A5 it didn't spoil the holiday. We went for a relaxing week and that is what we got as we spent most of our time in the conservatory watching the large variety of birds in the lovely gardens. Eddie and Sylvia are lovely people and the bottle of wine on arrival is a lovely gesture. You won't be dissapointed if you stay here. Health permitting we will be back.

  Seating which is to low. Showers over baths are impossible for many. As of course are slippery baths with no grab handles. However Byre cottage had none of these failings. We had a very enjoyable holiday there and if you want a rest from driving there is a regular bus service close by. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Oh yes and the weather was sunny and mild. But I expect Sykes cottages booked that for us as well?

• "We choose to book with Sykes because their cottages are always as described, and booking is easy."

  We have stayed in several Sykes cottages over the years, but this one is without a doubt the best we have ever had. It was everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage. It was immaculately clean, comfortable, with a very well equipped kitchen. The wet room was a new concept to us but we liked it very much. There is also a spacious sun room with cane chairs, sofa, and dining table. It overlooked the bird feeders and was a lovely way to start the day. The owners have given a great deal of thought to equipping the cottage - guidebooks, maps, an assortment of books to read, etc. It was unusual not to have a sofa and to have only single beds but the two chairs and the beds were very comfortable. The owners themselves are charming, accessible but not in the least intrusive. We only live 20 minutes away and chose this cottage to stay in whilst our new kitchen was fitted. We explored Nesscliffe Hill Country Park and climbed to Rodney's Pillar, as well as visiting The British Ironworks. The cottage is ideally placed for Shrewsbury, Oswestry, and the welsh borders. Even though we live in the area, we fully intend to return for another peaceful, relaxing holiday.
