Penryn Cottages
Once a thriving medieval port, the charismatic town of Penryn
brims with fabulous period buildings - Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian
architecture are all here. In contrast, the development at Jubilee
Wharf, with its waterside workshops, eateries and university
campus, adds a distinct vibrancy to the town. So when you book a
holiday cottage in Penryn, you'll experience a lovely blend of
old-meets-new.
On foot or by boat...
One of the best ways to get to know this beautiful old town is
to walk the Heritage Trail, stopping off at the local museum where
you'll find interesting bits and bobs like old toys and a
talking chair.
Penryn nestles at the head of the river that branches off from
the Fal Estuary - a perfect base for boating enthusiasts keen to
park their car at their Penryn holiday home and see the sights from
the water. Simply stroll down to Exchequer Quay and hop on a water
taxi to visit St. Mawes,
Mylor Bridge and Flushing.
Alternatively, step out from your Penryn holiday rental and
enjoy the coastal walk to Flushing. It takes around an hour, is
child and dog friendly and there's lots to see along the way,
including yachts and house boats around Gluvias Creek and art
galleries at Islington Wharf. Other local walks take in the Glasney
Valley and College Wood.
Local attractions include the Gardens at Enys, featuring a
variety of landscaped and wooded areas, a café serving
homemade treats and a stunning Bluebell Festival every May.
Another date to look out for when you're planning a trip to
Penryn is Carnival Week, showcasing all sorts of fun and games and
music from the likes of the Falmouth Marine Band.
