Wight.
Dogs love a good walk and the choice on offer here seriously takes
some beating. Half the island is a designated Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty and over 500 miles of paths and trails zigzag across
the countryside. Then there's the breathtaking Coastal Path -
gateway to sandy coves and bays, many of which are all or partly
dog friendly. Look out for Cowes, Colwell, Totland, Bonchurch,
Bembridge, Sandown and Shanklin, but do note dogs are banned from
all main resort beaches between May and September. And after a
day's exhilarating exercise, your pet friendly cottage on the
Isle of Wight provides a welcome retreat.
Visit Needles Park at Alum Bay and find a keepsake in the
celebrated Sand Shop. Admire the floral displays at the Ventnor
Botanic Gardens. Unravel 800 years of history at Carisbrooke
Castle, where Charles I was held prisoner before his execution. Or
breathe in the evocative aromas of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway
and chug through glorious countryside.
