Just show me Grange-over-Sands Cottages
Looking for somewhere quintessentially English? Our
Grange-over-Sands cottages make wonderful bases to explore the many
delights of southern Cumbria.
The atmosphere of this splendid seaside resort is genteel,
rather old-fashioned - you almost step back in time to the elegant
Edwardian era. Think promenade strolls, afternoon teas, brass band
concerts and taking in the air. Indeed, the mile-long prom was
especially created with those early visitors in mind and is just as
popular today. Linking the railway station with Blawith Point, the
path offers wonderful coastal vistas and is edged by delightful
ornamental gardens featuring rare species and small lakes
attracting all kinds of wildfowl.
When it comes to shopping, expect a really welcoming experience
in specialist shops - master bakers, an award-winning butcher,
original gifts and exclusive fashion. Dining out is a pleasure too,
with a range of eateries offering local delicacies like Cumberland
sausage and potted shrimps.
Explore the Cartmel Peninsula, with its gently undulating
landscapes of woodlands, meadows and limestone pavements, edged by
the salt marshes and mudflats of Morecambe Bay. You'll find
some lovely walks, quiet cycling routes and nature reserves
brimming with wildlife. The quaint village of Cartmel is just down
the road (for Michelin star dining, sticky toffee pudding and horse
racing), as is Holker Hall, famous for its annual garden festival.
Also nearby is the Lakeland Miniature Village, featuring a replica
of Beatrix Potter's home and examples of traditional Lakeland
buildings, as well as the state-of-the-art Lakeland Motor Museum.
