  • "A warm, comfortable cottage in a really nice village with good amenities nearby."

Very comfortable beds and the owners provided well for a young child. Well organised kitchen and very comfortable sofas. Dining area a bit squeezed and bathroom very tiny for 4 adults. Although it is advertised for 4 there is only parking for 1 car which was difficult for us all.

Lovely quiet location but central to everything in the village and short walk to the beach. Ann is amazing, very friendly and helpful. We have been coming to Crantock for many years and this is the best property we have stayed in.

A lovely, clean, bright cottage with two decent sized bedrooms, light and airy downstairs and a pleasant garden to enjoy the sunshine. The solid WiFi met the expectations of the teenager in our party. Handy private parking spot. Very short stroll to the pizza cafe and two bustling village pubs. The magnificent Crantock Beach is within easy walking distance, with its vast sands and great surf.

  • "A beautiful quiet position up a private driveway, the barn is modern, spotless and very comfortable, the owner and the property manager are both excellent communicators, providing information and assistance very quickly."

The barn is equipped with everything required to have a wonderful holiday, very comfortable beds, high quality bed linen and towels, comfortable sofas, and good quality appliances, a wealth of storage affectionately integrated into the barn’s infrastructure. A cuisine welcome box was fully appreciated after a long 5 hour journey. The digital information app and guide provided by the owner is an excellent comprehensive practical tool which outlines the affection and devotion the owners have for their property.

Comfy, cosy and very clean cottage in quiet location in the centre of the village. Weather was very mixed so being able to return here was great. We love the Old Albion pub and would recommend Sunday lunch. Other eating places we visited whilst out and about: Poco Loco, Gorse Bakery, pasties from bakery in Cubert, Rems Caff. Ssshhhh.. don't tell everyone as we need to keep it our secret!!!

We arrived much later than planned on the Friday due to some awful accidents on the M5. We immediately wanted to light the fire but although some kindling and logs there were no fire lighters which we were asked to use. I think it would have been helpful to have left at least one for the first use. The barn was well equipped and cosy and couldn’t fault it. We had a lovely relaxing stay and would definitely recommend.

What I did find that was different to other cottages was the communication from the owners and property manager. I was contacted with very usefull info from both the owner and the property manager in the days leading up to our trip down to Cornwall. They have a purpose made APP dedicated to the cottage and the beautiful village of Crantock with info on places to visit - a real gem of an idea. The cottage itself is prestine and loved every aspect of it. The enclosed garden is ideal for dogs as well. The cottage is literally 2 mins walk to 2 pubs and a lovely cafe - all of these are not to be missed out. The amazing Crantock beach is only around 10 mins to walk to as well. I could go on for ever about this property and village. You won't be dissapointed at all. 5 star holiday cottage :)

  • "We had a lovely holiday stay in Apple Barn and the enclosed garden was perfect for our dog."

Pauline (Housekeeping) was lovely in taking care of us and making us feel welcome and the welcome email and handy app from the owners prior to arrival is a brilliant idea so you have everything at your finger tips if you if you need it. For me this would be 5 stars if it had a larger bathroom and softer mattress in one of the rooms. The current shower room which is just off the kitchen is tiny for a two bed property. Even my 6 foot husband couldn’t sit on the toilet properly because of lack of space which isn’t ideal and could be an issue for even taller occupants. The shower room sink also became quite blocked during our stay, but once the owner was contacted they did say they would sort this straight away before the next guest stay. A lovely place and location to stay. We have stayed in Lavender Barn too before which is across the road and given this is only 1 bed, it feels a much larger property.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. After you mentioned the slow draining bathroom sink at the end of your stay we ended up needing to call out a plumber (Mr Muscle wouldn't sort it!). All resolved now and the drain is back to normal - just a build up of sand over time (the only downside of Apple Barn being so close to a beach I guess). Really appreciate your separate thank you email too and for you saying you'd definitely see us again next year! Fingers crossed you can make it back to Apple Barn. All the best. Property Owner

Lovely cottage, excellent location with short walk to beach. Only a few pointers, Need better facilities to segregate rubbish within cottage to aid recycling. New place mats required. Current ones are stained. Cooker hood edges sharp and protruding, hit my head a few times. Spot lights within kick board of kitchen units are hanging out and not fixed in situ. Dishwasher doesn’t clean very well and is small for family of 4. Mention of digital tv on cottage specifications but you need your own log in. Everything else was lovely!! Really enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for your feedback. We have arranged for an engineer to check the dishwasher, taken a look at the table mats and will also make sure the lights in the kitchen units are fixed in place. Glad you had a nice stay. Take care and hope you see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Apple Barn cottage was a very pleasant and well presented fully equipped cottage, the garden was just perfect with access straight out from the cottage, we had taken our dog with us, this made it a lovely, private place for us to enjoy the sun when we had returned from our morning walking and enjoying the beach."

The cottage itself was small but very nicely done, the only thing that let it down was that the toilet and shower were down stairs, which wasn’t great if you are someone who gets up in the night, to use the bathroom. For us we would have much preferred to have had no second bedroom and had the bathroom up stairs. This could easily be achieved and it would even be possible to provide both a bathroom and a separate walk in wardrobe room upstairs, should the owners choose to lose one of the bedrooms. This, in our opinion, would make it a much more pleasant stay, as we think if you were a party of more than two people, the property would feel far too cramped. Making these changes would maintain the comfortable environment that exists with just two people staying at the cottage. The only other small issue we had was, that the garden wasn’t secure enough to stop our dog getting through the hedge and out to the car parking area and further. Luckily our dog only did this once or twice and was told off, and as she is a dog that doesn’t like to be in trouble, so she stopped. Though it did mean that we never felt quite relaxed enough to leave her in the garden unwatched, while we were in house preparing food or taking a shower etc. but again this is something that could easily be put right. We would love to see the changes to the cottage that we have suggested, and would be delighted to stay again in the future on many occasions.

  • "Nice comfortable property and in a great location to explore the village and surrounding area."

The rules around dogs IMO make the property not dog friendly and the owners should review with a view to relaxing. We had to take our dog down the lane for him to do his toilet business…however I do understand that the lawn doesn’t want to be damaged but if a property is dog friendly then this should be accepted. Pauline (housekeeper) was very welcoming and helpful. Few things need replacing - knives (in knife block) weren’t that sharp and the frying pan was well used and not non-stick any more.

Thanks so much for your feedback. We think Pauline is brilliant too!! We will check the knife set + pan asap. We always try to stay on top of this stuff so thanks for putting it on our radar. When it comes to your other comment, we have a dog too and so can understand why you might find it easier to allow your pet to use the garden for their toilet breaks. However, when it comes to dogs, you’ll hopefully appreciate that we have to balance the expectations of and be fair to all our guests. So, whilst we want to make the Barn as dog friendly as possible, we are conscious that people without a four legged friend also stay with us. This is why we ask our guests not to let their dog use the garden as a toilet - otherwise the grass wouldn’t last 5 minutes and there’s the risk of unpleasant surprises being inadvertently left for others to find (we do our best to check the garden on each changeover, but dogs can be sneaky!). For similar reasons, we want to maintain the standard inside the Barn, which is why we request that dogs are kept off furniture etc. Believe it or not, when we stay at the Barn, we follow the same rules and take our dog to the lane to do her business. She is also restricted to a dog blanket on the floor (no matter how much she pleads to sit with us). We hope this explains our rules on dogs. Fingers crossed, both you and your pet feel able to visit us again. Take care and all the best. Family Burton Property Owner

It is extremely clean and comfortable. There's ample crockery and utensils in the kitchen. The open plan lounge and kitchen makes the house feel bright and airy. The welcome pack and flowers were much appreciated. It's in a great position being only minutes to the pubs and shop. The beach is a leasurely 10 minutes stroll. Allocated parking is a great asset as that could be difficult in the busy summer months. Pauline was helpful and we couldn't fault the property. We did take our little dog with us who would have been able to get through the hedge if left unattended so I would say the garden is not totally dog proof. The owners have also produced an app which we down loaded prior to our visit and it gave all the relevant information required for the cottage and our subsequent stay.
