  • "Ideal for our stay of 8 + dog."

Good sized kitchen-diner, sitting room, and twin and double. The listing is clear that the other two bedrooms are a bunk bed and a pullout - and although of limited comfort these were adequate for us. Great to have two toilets. Kitchen equipped well (fyi, no food processor - and these are not usually expected anyway). A garage is shown in the listing; this was not available. Rotary clothes line for wetsuit hanging. Parking on the drive for two cars in line. Great view of the surf conditions. Shower is electric - so no waiting for the water to heat up again when everybody returns en masse from the beach. Dog safe garden (once we had placed a wheelbarrow against the gap in the wall to the neighbours). And yes, a short but steep walk up! John Bray - note that the dishwasher door latch does not function. The machine still works fine, but the door is not locked shut whilst washing. Consequently the wash does not stop if the door opens. Best to get this fixed to avoid a flood should the door ease open mid-cycle.

  • "We absolutely loved this house."

The position, easy access to the coast path and beach, and view of Pentire Point were absolutely fabulous. We loved the garden and we found the house comfortable and well-equipped. The only downside for us was the quite obvious damp in the ceiling in the bedroom just off the kitchen. We felt unable to use this bedroom because of the smell and health concerns. As a result, we had to move a mattress into the sitting room for one of our family to sleep on.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are so glad you enjoyed the property, I will mention the dampness in the bedroom to our maintenance team to inspect it, we do hope to welcome you back to North Cornwall again, John Brays on behalf of the Owners. Property Owner

  • "We have stopped here many times."

The accommodation is always clean and tidy and nice and warm on those rainy October days. Decor and furnishings are a little dated and the walk up the hill from the beach is good exercise. There is a fabulous view from the lounge window. This accommodation is great value and we have already booked for next year.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The beds/mattresses were not very comfortable and we felt need replacing."

The rest of the property was comfortable and well equipped. The garden was lovely and sheltered at the back. The property would benefit from an outside light possibly on a sensor so that the outside steps and slope going down to the road can be seen in the dark. Otherwise quite dangerous and slippery at times. We had a wonderful holiday. Thank you so much for sharing your holiday bungalow with us. We would love to return.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit. Your comments have been passed on to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay regardless of these and would love to welcome you back in the future - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed here quite a few times and the smell of oil has always been hideous in the kitchen but with by moving Of the oil tank it’s completely gone thanks."

The garden also this year was cut and much better (we had previously complained in other years). All in all it appears to be much better kept this year. It’s a fab location (if yoy don’t mind a heart up hill walk) and would recommend

  • "The cottage is on a very steep hill."

Beautiful views but to walk up and down the cliff you need to be in tip top condition or ready to use your vehicle daily.

  • "Phoning up and getting through to Sykes was generally a negative experience as I then had to be put through to John Bray."

The decor and furniture was rather run down. The top shelf of the dishwasher was held together with cable ties and did not slide in and out well. It turned out that the boiler was not working. Hot water was provided by the immersion heater which overheated and ended up pushing scalding hot water out of the hot and cold taps. I have been a John Bray customer for many years and have always found their service excellent. My experience with Sykes, so far, has not been great apart from the last person I spoke to around Aug 29-31 who was very helpful.
