  • "Paul gave us a warm welcome and was there waiting when we arrived to show us round."

We were provided with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine which was all very welcome. Unlike many others properties we’ve stayed in we were provided with all household requirements right down to plastic containers and bag clips. Also enough cupboard space to store groceries. Beautiful cottage and garden and lovely owners.

  • "Paul met us on arrival and gave us a very detailed run down of the property and local amenities, which was extremely helpful."

The complementary goodies where very much appreciated. Wren cottage was ver quirky with its natural structure, with beams that gave it a rustic charm. Being able to stop the bus right outside the property to Canterbury and Folkestone was such a bonus. It has a fabulous garden which we were able to enjoy a g&t whilst watching the birds and squirrels. Overall the cottage was more than adequate for our needs of 4 adults. Paul had a great sense of humour as there was much football banter going on (even though his team Crystal Palace lost to Everton ) If we ever choose to head to Kent again Wren cottage would definitely be our choice of accommodation

  • "Wonderful converted barn, beautiful atmosphere, friendly and helpful owner."

    Bath and shower facilities insufficient.

Wren Holiday cottage offers high quality accommodation, the bathroom facilities offered are a full size bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs (please see our photographs for images of the facilities). We feel the comment relating to the bathroom facilities being inadequate does not accurately reflect the high quality accommodation that we offer. Property Owner

We felt immediately at home and were very impressed with the attention to detail in every aspect of this very comfortable cottage and we would have loved to have stayed longer on this visit as it is so convenient for visiting family in the area. This part of Kent has a lot of lovely places to visit as well as a good quantity of eateries to cover all tastes (!) and budgets. We will definitely stay here again.

  • "Wren is the best-appointed self-catering cottage we've stayed in."

Every mod con we could have needed was provided, and the cottage was comfortable, warm and spacious - a fine restoration of the barn preserving the original beams. The owner is very helpful with tips on the best local pubs, shops and takeaways, and the location is well placed for visiting local attractions such as Dover Castle, the RH&DR, Port Lympne and Howletts. The hourly bus from Folkestone to Canterbury stops right outside the front gate. Highly recommended.

  • "Interesting renovation."

Lovely garden to sit in on occasion. Cottage was warm, clean and welcoming upon arrival. Minus points - busy road running alongside property - noisy, fast traffic. Felt somewhat dangerous turning right into the road from property lane. Beams upstairs 'head hazard'! Particularly the low beam in the bathroom by the toilet, where a sign perhaps ought to be fixed on wall opposite lavatory so that one can read it whilst sitting.....'Don't Lose Your Head'.

Road alongside only busy during rush hour otherwise very quite rural road. turning right into vally road normal driving standards prevail. Beams upstairs , 300 year old barn , first complaint in 12 years Property Owner

A mile south is the village of Lyminge, offering a convenience store and a pub, the Coach & Horses, whilst a mile north lies Elham, an idyllic village with two further pubs, so there’s several nearby options for when you fancy a pint and some grub. The prosperous town of Hythe is six miles away, offering scenic walks along The Royal Military Canal, rowing boats to hire and a wide promenade overlooking long stretches of beach and views out over the English Channel. Outdoor enthusiasts will also be in their element, thanks to the nearby Brockhill Country Park where you can explore the meadow and the lake, with the opportunity to spot local wildlife. The village of Lyminge lies in southeast Kent and is only five miles from Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel, on the road passing through the Elham Valley. Lyminge is surrounded by farmland and ancient forests. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna and wildlife in the surrounding area, including badgers, various species of deer and wild boar which are thought to have escaped from farmed populations. It is a thriving village with lots of local shops, a pub serving excellent food which also hosts regular event evenings, a coffee shop, a hairdressers and a library. The parish church is well worth a visit, being the oldest building in the village; it has stood since 633AD and has had a rich and varied past. Lyminge has been the focus of many archaeological digs in recent years, and jewellery, weapons and glassware have all been uncovered. Numerous footpaths and bridleways criss-cross the meadows and woods around this lovely part of Kent, so why not pack a picnic, dust off the metal detector, and set off to explore ancient woodland and see if you can find a piece of the past? Lyminge is perfectly situated for trips to historic towns and the coast. In less than 20 minutes you can be strolling along cobbled streets and admiring Canterbury Cathedral or lazing on a beach enjoying the sounds of waves as they wash against the shore. With the Channel Tunnel only five miles away, why don't you spend a day enjoying the delights of Belgium or France? Shop for cheese, wine and chocolates, saunter along by the Seine, dine alfresco at a quaint little bistro and still be home before the sun goes down. A wonderful holiday location.
