  • "The directions to the property were spot on, everything was as described and was very relaxing and could disconnect from everything."

We weren't able to get along with the TV to put the volume up or the towel heating Inthe bathroom but didn't really bother us. Pretty sure if we asked they would have told us how to handle it tho. Overall we will recommend as we had an amazing time.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Snug. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Sorry you couldn’t get on with the volume or towel heater, we would of course have shown you if you had asked. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "No hot water on one of our days after having a lazy morning, be good to know when the timers are set for!"

Hosts were super friendly and the property was gorgeous, we would definitely stay again!

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback for your stay in the Snug. We are glad you enjoyed your time here and would be pleased to welcome you back. Sorry you experienced no hot water, the timer is set to come on at 6am to provide ample hot water in the morning and then set again for late afternoon. It does mention in the welcome book that there is a boost button if you run out in the kitchen cupboard ☺️ Property Owner

  • "The place was nice and cosy."

I think privacy was my issue. There was a lack of it. I stayed 4 nights with my partner and we arrived late the first night, the next morning l felt the owner was trying to make himself visible to say hello which wasn’t necessary. And they also took note that we arrived late the night before..not sure why it mattered to him. They also have their children’s/grandchildren roaming the garden and they have a bench right next to the snug where they sit which again is a lack of privacy because they would sometimes sit there when they know we’re staying there. The driveway is stone but where you are designated to park there is an awful lot of stones and sometimes your cars tyres would sink and it may be slow getting out of the stones. And it’s the only place on the driveway with too many stones. A lot of insects too you will wake up with a few spiders on the walls and ceilings. If the privacy was greater I would recommend it.

Sorry your stay was not what you had expected. We are however disappointed by your review of the property and feel that perhaps it is a frustrated response to the claim made for the considerable damage you caused whilst here. As you can see the Snug has extensive 5* reviews and a perfect 10 award from Sykes so your review does not reflect this. However, We apologise if we made you feel uncomfortable by coming to welcome you. Guests are welcome to arrive at any time, that is why there is a lock box for your convenience. My husband was merely making polite conversation whilst on his way to his car as we like to check our guests have everything they need for an enjoyable stay. Our 6 year old does play in our private garden of our family home, this area is clearly marked as private as the Snug is set within 1.5acres of garden and paddocks. The only part of the Snug which is close to our boundary is the bins, which I believe was the one and only time during your stay that I actually saw you whilst you were by the bins, otherwise it sits within an acre of paddock backing onto woodland and a stream. We have no issue with parking our cars on the gravel drive which was created especially for the Snug and I also believe my husband offered for you to park on the older part of the drive if you were struggling. Insects are unfortunately a thing everywhere in the summer when windows are left open and lights are left on as was the case here. They would not have been there on your arrival as I inspect the property thoroughly before guests arrive. We do thank you for taking the time to review the Snug as it helps us improve the experience for other guests. We do prefer to receive feedback during the stay though so we have the opportunity to resolve immediately and ensure your stay is the best experience possible. Property Owner

It is decorated and furnished to a high standard, spotlessly clean and the wood fired hot tub made it extra special. The owners were friendly and accommodating and we only had to ask if we needed anything. Overall this was a perfect break for us, one we would recommend and wish to return to

  • "The snug is a lovely property in a rural area."

It is cosy for couples looking for a short peaceful break. We loved the hot tub and Diesel the dog. We met Darron who was very helpful. Guests should note that, as advertised, the bed is double and not king sized. Also the surrounding lanes are really for single traffic and some are not in the best condition. We enjoyed visiting Folkestone and Canterbury.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to review The Snug. I am sorry your stay was not what you had hoped. This has come as quite a surprise as this review/scores do not reflect on your kind and very positive comments in the visitor book and what you said while you were staying here. Sadly we have no control over the condition of the roads in the surrounding areas. I am sure this is the same of most rural countryside properties all over the UK. We have extremely high standards for cleanliness which comes from a long hospitality background and shows in our reviews. We are sorry it wasn’t to your satisfaction. If there was a particular area that was not cleaned properly we would like to know so this can be addressed for future guests. If you had mentioned this during your stay we could have resolved any issues you may have had as Darren did when he showed you how to use the blinds and light the hot tub. The Snug comfortably accommodates guests for long stays aswell as short stays and we regularly have guests stay for a week or more. Some of which haven’t even left for days out and just enjoyed the tranquil space that the snug provides. We have also looked through the listing and it clearly states there is a double bed and everything else looks in order, so am unsure what is inaccurate? Property Owner

  • "The aptly named Snug is a cosy little retreat providing a big ol' dose of self-care!"

With it's idyllic location and friendly (but not overbearing) hosts, this place really does have everything you need for a few days of peace and relaxation. If I had to come up with some constructive criticisim, I would recommend adding some information about a few local businesses to the guest instruction/info pack, such as Bagham Barn and Badgers Hill. I had a lovely stay and would happily return in the future!

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. We will be sure to update the folder with more information on local businesses. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

It was perfect for our mini break. It ticked all the boxes and the hosts were so attentive and also set up the Hot Tub before our arrival. • "Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful."

The hot tub didn’t get hot at all despite using all of the paper & logs and stuff. There were quite a lot of bugs in the property which is to be expected because of the surroundings but I have a very big phobia of spiders and I was petrified. Quite a lot of spider webs on the ceilings and walls. The decor was lovely, very comfy bed although it was on the small side as my partner is 6ft. I would say that sun loungers are a must especially when the weather was as good as it was for us when we stayed. All in all we had a great time but I do think £400 is a lot of money for what it actually is.

We are sorry your stay was not quite what you imagined it would be and are disappointed you didn't come to us for any help whilst you were staying. We would have been more than happy to have helped. Unfortunately the odd spider is part of country life. However, we hoover all the ceilings and walls and check for them before guests arrive, as I am a total clean freak so take a lot of pride in ensuring the Snug is to a standard that I would stay in myself which is reflected in our reviews so far. The hot tub is like a log burner so takes a little perseverance to get it really hot. After reading your message in the visitors book we tested it out and it reached 42 degrees in an hour so is doable. We would have been more than happy to have helped you light it properly if you had asked as we are only a text away. The bed is a standard double as per Sykes listing and the size of the Snug is similar to a suite in a hotel but with the added bonus of being in 1.5acres of countryside garden with a stream and a hot tub. We have found that most guests have brought their own sun loungers but it will be something we will consider in the future. Property Owner

River at the bottom with a seat, very peaceful and also very private. The Snug had everything we needed and the owners are only a txt away if you require anything. There are a couple of pubs within a 20 minute walk and lots of walks on the doorstep. The train station is also just a 10 minute walk away which can take you to Canterbury. Hot tub was lovely to come back to. I would 100% recommend this property.

  • "Lovely little bolt hole, compact but with everything you need."

Top spec equipment but it might be a good idea to have instructions on how to use things more readily to hand (had to get owner to instruct me on hob, and then had to google microwave manual). Lovely owners, very helpful, but beware leaving the doors open when evening comes, it becomes bug heaven indoors, I should have anticipated that though. Small (constructive-I hope) criticism, those chairs are not very comfy for tv watching, and the angle is all wrong to watch from the bed (unless that was something else I couldn't work out). Nice to be close to a stream, just sitting by water and trees is very good for the soul.

Thank you for your feedback and the constructive criticism : ) We have since changed the manual to include those things and the TV bracket actually does pull all the way around so you can sit comfortably in bed to watch something. We are glad you were able to relax by the stream and hopefully you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner
