About the location

Brampton Near Appleby-in-westmorland

Appleby 2 miles; Penrith 13 miles.

The attractive, unspoilt rural village of Brampton is ideally placed for exploring the Eden Valley, Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The village has a pub, which serves good food, and is just two miles from the historic town of Appleby. At the heart of the lush Eden Valley, Appleby-in-Westmorland is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain; still today, many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. Visit Appleby in June and experience the famous Horse Fair, the largest Romany gathering in Europe, enjoy a walk on the Pennine Way at Dufton, or explore one of the local cycle trails. With the delightful Pooley Bridge, Penrith and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

The accommodation was spacious and more than adequate for our needs, the quality of the furnishings was high and the kitchen was particularly well equipped. We liked the situation of the house and its whole ambience, this is an ideal property for a mixed family or group of friends. We considered it very good value and have spoken about renting the house again to enable us to do some proper walking in the area.

Miss Anderson, Largs, March 2014

This cottage is a stunningly well equipped and well presented property. We found it very, very welcoming and we particularly liked that they were happy for us to have two dogs there. The property is in a lovely location with stunning views of the hills. Very handy for the Lakes, Dales and Pennines. I would recommend this property to anyone. We loved it!

Dr Trewin, Lancaster, February 2014

Glen Bank was excellent in every respect - I cannot find any faults. It was spacious and set up to a very high standard - more like a very well appointed home than a holiday cottage. Also in a lovely area and convenient for all our family to meet up. I have already recommended it and we hope to return.

Mrs Brew, Falmouth, December 2013

Glen Bank was an excellent property which made the holiday fantastic.
