"A first ‘holiday cottage’ visit to Nottinghamshire - the county of my birth."
Surprisingly, considering the weather forecasts, we had a lovely week exploring the area. Our main reason for the visit was to attend a gig at the Palace Theatre and we were grateful that it was within walking distance. Cherry Lodge was a lovely place to stay but I did end up having to wash most of the glassware before use as it didn’t look to have seen soap and water for some time. Beyond that small niggle, I think we’d look to visit again

"House was spotless with comfy beds and well equipped."
A brilliant location to visit both all that Newark has to offer and slightly further afield too with it's great access to the road and rail networks. We enjoyed a day getting to know this interesting town which has plenty of places to get good food and drink, including the market where we got a great bargain whole fillet of beef. Also visited Easton Walled Gardens (Grantham) which was a great contrast to the town. Loved the social aspect of the dining conservatory being adjacent and open to the kitchen so no feeling of isolation whilst cooking. Would definitely consider going back though take care if older as the sofas really are low and a little difficult to get up from...

"A real home from home is how I would sum
Up Cherry lodge."
Great access into the town was a bonus and lots to see and do.
We went to Mary Magdalene church which was very impressive and we loved exploring all the antique shops and small shops dotted about.
The house was comfortable and so well equipped!
Garden very nice and welcome as we were there during heat wave and safe for our 2 dogs.
My only concern is the upstairs windows which would not be an issue if not staying in extreme heat.
But the small bedroom window was not allowed to be opened due to it needing a replacement
And the small double and bathroom windows were very very stiff to open and I was worried we may of broken them if forced!
It did not spoil are stay but made keeping upstairs cool very difficult.
Will definitely return as for us it was a very nice stay and great location

"Lovely accommodation, pleasure to walk into, lovely and clean, nice fragrance."
The kitchen is very well equipped, like the whole property. Lovely comfy beds and bed linen. The conservatory is a lovely place to sit and enjoy your meal too. Garden is very nicely done although we did not sit outside. The Wi-Fi works really well too. This property is well located short walk to shops and town well worth the visit for the History too. The negatives are the low sofas and the window in small bedroom does not open and is waiting for maintenance, shower screen could be secured better. The property is in a residental area, there is noise from surrounding neighbours. Would recommend to others if visiting that area.

"Cherry Lodge is a lovely well appointed property."
It has everything you need whilst away from home. I have never encountered such a well stocked kitchen with gadgets and crockery like you have in your own home.
The sofas in the living room are quite low for less mobile people to get down on and then up again, but they are comfortable.
It's a great base for exploring the local area, we stayed as it was close to relatives we were visiting.
It's location is excellent as Newark town centre is only a short walk away meaning you don't need to drive and have the hassle of finding a place to park.
My only issue was the shower, a lovely rain forest shower head which gave a great shower, however the glass partition on the bath needs to be a bit longer as water can splash out and onto the floor if you are not really careful whilst showering.
Would definitely recommend to others as a place to stay.

Only reasons for not top marks for facilities and maintenance was that we struggled to use both the oven and the microwave, and the toilet seats tended to slip a bit. Very minor negatives- with everything else being great.

The only issue we had was the sofas in the living room. They are incredibly low to the ground, to the point that the two elderly people in our party physically couldn’t get up from them unaided. This was a major issue as it meant we couldn’t leave them alone in the property at any time.

It felt spacious and well equipped (for 3 people and 2 dogs). The beds were comfy. There were plenty of towell's and toilet rolls left out for the stay. The house temperature was comfortable during the day and night. The garden was of a good enough size to accommodate 2 retriever dogs and secure. The off road parking easily accommodated a people carrier. The area was quiet even though located on a residential street. Kitchen was well equipped but could do with a measuring jug. For some reason there were no shelves in the fridge which made storing essentials in the fridge quite difficult.
Unfortunately the shelf in the fridge was broken during the clean immediately prior to your visit. I had no way of letting you know as the contact phone number that I was given for you was your home telephone number. I have ordered two new shelves for the fridge which will be put in place before the next guests arrive. If I had had your mobile phone number I would, of course, have let you know about this issue. I do hope that this inconvenience did not affect your stay to much.
