  • "Unfortunately we cut our stay short due to the smell of the damp and condensation in the bathroom area."

I advised property owner that this needs immediate attention, repair and treatment. The decking also needs some love and attention and would suggest its cleaned and properly maintained, whilst I know decking weathers it should be maintained and kept clean and fresh looking if renting a property out to holiday makers. For me at least It does make a difference knowing you are relaxing in a clean smelling property, otherwise why be away from own home. I do hope the property owners set this right for future guests as otherwise the pod could be a cozy retreat especially perched up high with amazing views. Hot tub was nice and warm but could not have the jets going as the water was flooding over the edges as filled too high with two people in the tub together.

It was close to the owners house however it still felt secluded and private. The cabin itself was so nice and clean on the inside and has everything you need, they left us a bottle of champagne which was extremely thoughtful. Overall the property is expensive so we wouldn't spend much longer than a weekend, however it was an extremely relaxing time in the middle of the Welsh countryside :)

We had the most relaxing four night stay. Great layout, you can step straight out of the door into the hot tub, which feels very secluded and private but still has lovely views, watched a beautiful sunrise from there, lots of different birds, and looks amazing lit by moonlight too. Thank you for accommodating our very last minute (same day booking) and very late (1am) arrival.

Plenty of indoor and outdoor space, didn’t feel cramped in anyway shape or form. Bed was extremely comfortable so was the double sofa/chair for watching tv. We had everything we needed from kitchen accessories to towels, robes etc for the hot tub which was fantastic day or night. Everything was clean and tidy, you can tell the pod was made with love and affection. The hosts were friendly and approachable! Great base we went to Bangor, Aberystwyth, Devils Bridge, Betws-Y-Coed, Welshpool, New Town, Zip World. Great escape in any weather. Lots of leaflets and information in the pod for you if you don’t pre plan activities, plenty of walking/forest not a far drive away. Visit Powis Castle and Gardens it’s beautiful there & National Trust. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be visiting again in the future! :) Sam, Craig & Bailey x

The views from the pod are stunning and it has everything you need. The hot tub is a luxury and we felt comfortable during our stay and had privacy from the owners house. We stayed on a hot weekend and the owners were really helpful and lent us a fan as it gets quite warm in the little pod. Something to note is that it's not fully fenced off for dog, we kept ours on a lead whenever we took him outside but this wasn't a problem for us :) (he fit under the gap of the board that could be pulled over by the steps). Thank you again for a wonderful stay and we would love to return in the colder months to experience a cosy vibe :D

  • "The Rhiw is an unique pod, small but perfectly formed, in our opinion!"

Its position is tucked away, behind & above the owners' property, but completely private despite the proximity. Completely cosy, due to central heating, very comfortable bed, & brilliant idea of separate access from hot-tub to the bathroom, keeping drips away from the living space! Chair is a bit cosy for 2, but owners are aware, have a plan in mind!! Fantastic views from the front of the pod, and the side garden, and brilliant star gazing (when weather allowed!) from the hot-tub, with several shooting stars observed!?* A complete "get away from it all" location - not an "A" road within 7 miles (be careful following Sat-Nav to other locations, as some of the routes can be rather adventurous, to say the least) ;-)! Hosts could not be faulted, very friendly upon arrival and departure, but happy to leave us in peace, in between - we have no doubt they would have fallen over themselves to help, if we had experienced any problems! Altogether, a lovely break away from normal life (even if it rained almost every day!!) - Thank you.

  • "Honestly while there are some positives not the best experience, felt very much like you were staying at the bottom of your parents/grandparents garden especially as they could be heard going to and from the garage almost all day."

Dog could be heard crying at all times and kennel directly below the cabin stunk on multiple occasions. Hot tub a little on the small side and probably needed a better chemical balance as lots of grime bubbles came out quickly with limited use (only used three or four times total), guest hot tub not far from owners hot tub and could hear their entertainment which wasn’t ideal. Struggled to get to park due to visitors. Overgrown plants on pathways which were covered in flies constantly so you couldn’t have the door open and surprisingly not much of a view considering the location. At first glance cabin is modern and there are some good amenities but the space could be better used, the bathroom especially which is cramped and too spacious at the same time eg the sink is crammed into a corner and then half the room is empty.

Thank you guest number 69 this year, for you inaccurate misleading opinions. However a review should contain helpfully information to other people looking to book this property or another. We would respectfully request future clients reading this to look at other reviews on our system and ignore this. Peter and Nickie Property Owner

  • "The property was beautiful and incredibly clean on arrival."

It was equipped with everything we needed for our stay with plentiful utensils and bathroom supplies. They even left us a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely touch. Both owners greeted us on arrival which was lovely. The cottage is super private and has amazing views. The only problem is that the wifi is a little bit unstable and drops out occasionally, which meant that accessing the internet was patchy at times. Also, my partner and I went to use the hot tub on our last night, for the first time, but we both noticed that the water had been filled too high. This meant that it overflowed over the sides when anyone got into it, which was disappointing. Also, the hot tub filter kept bobbing up and down in the water and was loose, so unfortunately we were both unable to use the hot tub. Other than that, we both really enjoyed our stay.

  • "Overall had a wonderful stay- we booked 2 nights for 2 of us with a small dog."

However, we would suggest taking some insect repellent as there was a lot due to the close proximity of fields, taking a fan in warm months, fill up on petrol as you will have to drive a lot to go anywhere. And we recommend the Fish and chippy 8 mins away in llanfair (it was gorgeous and good prices) and Lake vernwy (good day out £4 all day parking). Pros: - Gorgeous view - Your own Garden space - Smart tv which has access to films - Really comfy bed - Hot tub?! (Obviously) Suggestions: - Maybe a gate at the top of stairs? - stop dogs going down steps (as when we were in the hot tub trying to relax our dog kept trying to run down them so we couldn’t sit in the hot tub for long) - Short fence/ barrier in the garden area to help prevent dogs falling down slope - Earlier Check in time or later check out time as it is quite a pricey trip and we found these check in and check out times limited us a lot - More lights outside - Maybe a suggestion in the book of where is best to get phone signal / wifi around the pod area (would come in handy for ringing takeaways) We would still recommend the stay as we still had a lovely time! :) It’s like a little home from home. Thank you! :)

The hot tub wasn’t overly clean we had black bits and hair in it when we first opened it put us off a little but we got it all out before using it. Everything that was in the lodge was just perfect would definitely book with them again

Thank you for your valuable feedback. After speaking with the owners, they are pleased to hear you found the lodge perfect and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. We wanted to clarify that the owners go above and beyond to make sure the hot tub water is changed before each stay and the black bits found may have been a result of when opening the hot tub cover, it can scrape against the roof of the pod. This can dislodge the mineral on the felt and this may cause small black pieces to be found in the tub. The hair, we are very sorry to hear this and can assure you that we are meticulous in our cleaning as you can see from other reviews, this is not normal.. Had you been in touch with us during your stay we would have made every effort to resolve these. Many thanks, Customer Relations Team, Sykes Holiday Cottages Property Owner

The property was spotlessly clean and had more facilities than advertised. There was a toaster and a portable, two ring induction hob under the sink , loads of plates and cutlery along with condiments, chopping boards etc. The shower was brilliant ( if a little cramped for anyone near six foot) but the water pressure and temperature were spot on. After a day out it was just so refreshing to have a proper shower to freshen up . The setting was amazing ( high up above the main house ) and the view was breathtaking . The hot tub is electric and therefore easily controllable and once you’re in it you’re almost guaranteed to be wrinkled by the time you get out as the views ( by day or night ) are beautiful. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming that leaving , even after only two nights stay , was quite sad

Owners helpful and approachable, live next door but due to steep hillside, pod and outdoor space felt really private. Hot tub with a view was just perfect. Totally loved it, didn't want to leave! No 'walks from the door' or pub/shop nearby so had to drive everywhere, didn't matter but worth mentioning. Take spare towels & swimsuit if wet weather forecast as not much space to dry stuff.
