"A mid 1800’s cottage in a pleasant village a few miles outside of Norwich with two good pubs a stone’s throw away and garage with a Subway just across the road."
Two large comfortable beds up a staircase which is typical in a cottage of this age and should be used with care. The lounge is comfortable and the internet works fine, kitchen is very well equipped. Outside was secure for our dog to investigate but some of the greenery needed trimming back. Plenty of walks, Tesco a few hundred yards up the road and fish and chips next door to a Chinese takeaway a ten minute drive.
Any problem the owner just a phone call away only too happy to help.

"An excellent location."
Pubs, Tesco and Garage just a few minutes walk away. 20 minutes bus ride into Norwich and well placed for visiting the Broads and north coast. It is homely and comfortable. If you have mobility issues then take the warnings seriously. The cottage is on two levels with a step between the kitchen and sitting room, and between the two bedrooms. Also the stairs are very steep and narrow and require great care. If you are of an age to need to get up in the night the journey to the downstairs bathroom is quite daunting!

"Enjoyed our short stay at Megs Cottage."
Lovely cosy and comfortable cottage. Well equipped cottage, beyond expectations of facilities and level of provisions provided in the cottage. Chose Megs Cottage as it was close to family we were visiting for a few days on our holiday tour and we were delighted with local amenities.
Due to the descriptions provided by the owner we were aware of the steep stair and managed okay. Although we didn’t try to take our one large suitcase upstairs!
The only disappointing factor was the parking space. Although described as parking for one car, the available space was compromised due to the now overgrown shrubbery which was not shown on website photos, as this still shows an old photo without any shrubbery, only a few plant pots on the left of parking space.
The hedge, bushes and plants that surround the parking space really could do with being cut well back or removed altogether to provide a bigger space, as to ensure ease of exit from car the passenger had to get out before entering the space to allow the driver to gain plenty room at their door to exit safely without scratching door on hedge and give enough space to actually get passed car.

"The picture shows a cottage sitting on a country path the reality is it's on a very busy road."
The car wash in the petrol station opposite was very noisy. The back bedroom was lovely and the bed, pillows etc very comfortable but having to walk through the other bedroom to reach the bathroom downstairs kept waking my friend up. The garden was not a pleasant country garden it was very overgrown and we saw a mouse in the garden and along with the noise of the traffic and uncomfortable seats couldn't relax in it. Overall it looked very tired and needed to be painted inside and out. We left a day early due to lack of sleep. btw I also live in an 1890 cottage so please don't use that as an excuse for the lack of work that needs to be carried out. Very disappointed.
We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. The vast majority of our guests enjoy staying with us and compliment us on the way we look after our property and garden. The description and information on the Sykes website does state that the bedrooms are connected and that the property is situated on a main road, however we are sorry to hear that this did effect your stay. We wish you well for your future holiday venues.

"This is a genuinely old cottage and has been sensitively refurbished to provide all modern amenities whilst still retaining its strong cottage character."
The owners have gone to great lengths to provide all that could possibly be required for an enjoyable and comfort stay, for people and (if applicable) a dog. Internally it is a delightful, cozy property. It is well placed for touring around Norfolk, and an interesting walking/cycle route along a former railway (The Marriott’s Way) is very close. However it does have some drawbacks beyond the owners’ control. It is situated on a very busy main road near a major junction and almost opposite a large petrol station. However it is double-glazed and pretty quiet inside. There is, as promised, space off road outside for one car, but if any visitors had a second car this would be very difficult to park nearby. Although there is a small enclosed garden to rear, there is no outlook other than the road. The tiny spiral stair could be very hazardous for the very old, young or anyone with limited mobility. The combination of very awkward stairs and downstairs bathroom, beyond the living room and kitchen, make access to the bathroom difficult in the night. Additionally one of the double bedrooms can only be reached through the other. For any visitors for whom these drawbacks do not matter, and there may well be many, the property can be warmly recommended.

Comfortable, cosy, sympathetically furnished and extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The village has two pubs a pizza takeaway, a cafe and a Tesco supermarket. There are outside tables and chairs to sit in sun or shade. The stairs are accurately described on the website, they are an adventurous scramble with a hand rail. There are steps and a low doorway into the back bedroom. A short bus ride or drive will take you into Norwich, we spent a day at Holt and one at Sheringham. There’s off road parking and plenty of local shops. For cyclists there’s Marriott Way. The owners have put lots of interesting things inside and a wealth of books.
