  • "A fabulous house in a quiet location, a short walk down to the harbour and to the costal path to the local beaches, which were perfect for the kids, and about a 20 minute walk to Porthmadog along the footpath."

The house was very clean and well presented, with everything we needed. The kids loved having their own rooms and lounge to relax in when they got fed up with us. They also loved the selection of cakes that were so kindly left for us, thank you! The steps up to the patio were quite steep, but it’s well worth the climb as it’s a lovely spot for a quiet cuppa. The kids loved using the ‘secret steps’ leading from the single bedroom up to the patio. I’d definitely recommend Hyfrydle, it was perfect. The kids have already asked when we can go back!

Cakes, milk and butter on arrival were a nice touch and very much appreciated. Only on suggestion, given the number of shoes our family of 5 had to cover all weathers a shoe in the hall under the coat rack would have been useful. Everything else was great. Thanks

Lovely little cottage with everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. Beautiful location and a short walk to the beach. The children loved it. We did rockpooling, crabbing and even fishing. We had a couple of days out to the Highland railway and bedgelert we did a hike up the side of a waterfall next to sygun copper mines the copper mine itself was brilliant. Definitely would recommend and would love to come back here in the future. There are also lots of lovely pubs with real heart food served. Definitely recommend.

  • "We had a pleasant 3 night stay for our party of 3 elderly but fit golfers!"

The property is well appointed , clean , and in a nice location, although in a traditional Victorian street with similar properties opposite. The tight staircase and single toilet/ bath room could be a limitation for some groups , particularly parties of 6 . From 3 bedrooms you have to stride over the gap to the top stair of the rather steep stairs to get to the bath room ( hazardous without lights ) . The bath/ shower room is modern and for older people would benefit from a non slip mat and one or two simple grab handles to help safe exit from the bath/ shower. We are mobile for our age but found this rather difficult. Dining Kitchen is well stocked , ( missing only a working bottle opener.)

  • "Lovely property, spotlessly clean and in a great location."

The beautiful coastal view/path is literally one minute’s walk away. The upper terrace seating area is a real bonus - the sun is there well into the evening - and there were ample comfortable facilities for four adults. Simply couldn’t fault this place. Only one very minor issue was bath towel size - when running the gauntlet between bathroom and bedrooms in a mixed group modesty was a slight issue and perhaps a couple of bath sheets would be helpful. Other than that one issue our stay here was great and we would without hesitation return.

On our arrival the owners had left a lovely welcome note and contact numbers in case we should need them also a bara brith and welsh cakes and the house had 2 vases filled with fresh flowers . I would highly recommend this house and the location is fantastic for walking the coastal path.

  • "We had a great week at the house."

A generous supply of essentials and the additional welcome touches including fresh flowers, cake and gifts for the children made us feel valued guests. All the furnishings and linen are excellent quality and the kitchen had all we needed for preparing meals. There was plenty of hot water and great pressure for the shower. It was a great location for us. The many sandy coves along the coast path were perfect for exploring and sand play for the little ones. We walked along the coast path into Porthmadog every day too where there are plenty of cafes, shops and interest from the historic trains and harbour.

The whole house was spotless and we'll presented. Parking was a bit of a challenge at times, but that's just how it goes. The steps to the patio are very steep, and really only for the fit, but it's nice if the weather is kind. Thanks for making us so welcome!

The house is spacious and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The owners have put a lot of care and thought in to providing a lovely holiday experience from the moment you arrive. The welcome card and Welsh treats plus milk and butter in the fridge were much appreciated after a long drive. Fresh flowers in the hallway and kitchen were another thoughtful touch. Every room is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, we felt very at home. The outside space was a bonus and we enjoyed sitting out in the sun for breakfast or having a drink in the evening. I would thoroughly recommend staying at Hyfrydle for anyone who would like a quiet, relaxed holiday in a beautiful location.

Porthmadog 1.2 miles; Criccieth 6 miles.

Borth-y-Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen.
