  • "This is one of the better holiday cottages that I have stayed in."

It is well presented, clean & comfortable. It's location makes both the coast & Moors easily accessible plus the Cinder Path is close by. A supermarket & petrol station are both minutes away by car. I appreciated the "hospitality tray" & milk on arrival. It's always good to have a cup of tea before unpacking. I would happily stay at Fuchsia Cottage again.

Thankyou very much for your feedback it’s very much appreciated xx Property Owner

  • "A very comfortable, clean, nicely decorated and well located property."

We had a very enjoyable stay. Great for cycling and walking - we took our bikes and it's 70 metres onto the traffic free Cinder Path. Roadside parking for the car OK at the back of the property. A quiet and attractive location with shops a few minutes journey away. The local Windmill Pub has good food and beer just a 4 minute walk away. Super picky points - no recycling - why not? Property details list a hot tub and secure bike storage - no! The back garden could easily be made secure with gate bolts. Crowded dining room with a large table and chairs for 6 in a property for 2 people. No BbQ or dishwasher. And the gardens front and back need maintaining. But a good property despite all my picky points!

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay, On Sykes cottages we don’t advertise a hot tub , bbq or dishwasher. Secure storage is in the conservatory. Scarborough borough council only supply the 1 bin for mixed refuse for holiday cottages . The table is set for 6 for if you have friends for dinner etc. The weather plays a big part in maintaining and if it’s not on the gardeners list for that week it’s usually for the next week. Comfortable bed and very clean throughout. Enclosed garden was a sun trap. We parked at the rear where there is plenty of spaces and access via the back gate. Tastefully decorated a home from home. We will book again. Tip: Bothams factory shop (on main road 3 minutes drive) do delicious rolls, quiche and cakes for your daily packed lunch.

  • "The holiday cottage is in the PERFECT location for anyone who enjoys walking (or even like me, an early morning run) as it's situated right alongside the Cinder Path."

..excellent place! We found the accommodation very comfortable, homely and spacious. There was lots of small, added extra touches like bathroom toiletries and welcome goodies in the kitchen (sadly thou the milk left in the fridge for us was out of date when we arrived). As other reviews have mentioned - there were a few places that could have been given more attention by the cleaning company (corners and inside cupboards) We were fortunate enough to be at Fuschia cottage for almost two weeks, so anticipated doing a necessary "smalls" wash whilst there. The kitchen has a lovely washing machine , but sadly we could only find 3 pegs! However, we would love to visit again and enjoy the surrounding area and look forward to relaxing at Fuschia cottage again. Many thanks to the owners for this accommodation.......

  • "Great location and lovely house, loved the cinderpath to get to and from whitby with the dog, would return for another stay."

Two minor points, can opener was broken and needs replacing and there was a smell coming up from the kitchen sink but as I said before we would return to this house again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay ,we have now replaced the can opener and bleach has been put down the drain so hopefully that will cure it Property Owner

  • "Great value for money and very convenient location."

The bungalow has everything you need. A cinder track is located behind the property and was a lovely two mile walk to Whitby. We got a bus home. It's a shame there was no recycling.

Thankyou very much for your fabulous review. Re-recycling as we are a holiday letting business we don’t get the option for a recycling bin just a general waste bin which is supplied by the Yorkshire county council, but there is a recycling centre in chomley way Whitby YO224NJ 4 minutes drive away. Very easy access to the Cinder Track and local buses meant I only had to use my car once, for a supermarket shop - the weather was kind too which helped. Missed having a village shop to use, but Sainsburys etc was only a short walk away.

Absolutely fantastic holiday cottage, fantastic location right next to the cinder path, with walks to Robin Hoods bay 5 miles, or Whitby 2 miles, the cottage was comfortable with all we needed for a brilliant 5 nights, gardens to front and rear both enclosed, the only points I would raise are you probably need a stronger hoover, the one in cupboard is pretty useless, trust me coming from a male hooverer, and the last thing is the company used to clean your cottage probably need to be a little more thorough, as little bits and pieces around ie cobwebs bits of dog hairs, not from ours as we have a non shedding Cockapoo , we will be back Thank you for a lovely stay Ian

Thankyou for your feedback will get the points you made rectified with our cleaning company Property Owner

Just a couple of niggle things . Could do with a lock on back gate . As any one could open it from the other side .when the dog was out in the garden . We could not get the hive heating to work . And could not have a bath . Because plug would not stay in . And when it rained . Water leak in front bedroom near the chimney Brest . We was led to believe there was a hot tub . But was not . But enjoyed how stay Clean in a good area and quiet . We would definitely stay again . And have all ready told people about it . All in all a very lovely little cottage

If we put a lock on the back gate then someone may forget to unlock it before they leave etc . Thankyou for the feedback will take on board the comments thankyou Property Owner

Superb place. Ideally positioned as right next to the 'Cinder trail' we used our bikes to get around the area from here most days. We did use the local bus to go to Staithes for the day when rain was forecast. Bustop 10mins walk away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and seeing the local surrounding area. Thank you.
