  • "Cottage in a great location, decor a bit dated, bath should have a step to assist people to enter and exit especially an elderly person, a welcome package would be appreciated, also a visitors book, this would help the owner/owners get feedback, we did enjoy our stay."

  • "Lovely cottage with riverside views."

Comfortable and clean with the added benefit of a washer/dryer which came in handy for our family. Lots of storage throughout and everything we needed to dine in during our stay.

  • "Porter’s Lodge was a wonderful place to stay for a week in Inverness."

The location was perfect and a huge bonus was having somewhere to park our car. Overall we found the property very comfortable- especially the bedrooms; we slept exceptionally well. The facilities within the cottage were really good; everything we needed for a week away. The only criticism I’d have is that we had difficulty finding the instructions for the oven, etc but this was easily fixed by getting in touch with the contact for the cottage. Perhaps for ease these could be put into the welcome folder in the lounge as there was plenty of room. However, all of that said, I’d have no hesitation in booking Porter’s Lodge again in the future.

  • "We loved this house!"

It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. This location is just a short walk over the foot bridge and a couple blocks to downtown restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

  • "Pros : We enjoyed our stay in potter’s lodge."

Beautiful views from Living and bedrooms. Property is very clean and lovely. I would definitely recommend this cute little cottage to my friends and family . Cons : we struggled to get to the property with the given postcode and when called to the contact number given twice no one lifted the phone and didn’t even call back . And one more thing is we felt so cold in the property especially in the living room and kitchen though the heaters were on . Thank you !

  • "We really enjoyed our stay and the location was close to the City and the Ness Islands."

The welcome pack mentioned that there was a second set of keys in a key box - looked high and low but could not find them - this was not a problem just mentioned as the pack could be wrong and might need updating. Whilst in the cottage the heating developed a fault - error 1101 on the thermostat - googled as it was not in the manuals for the heating - found to be low battery youtube showed how to change them - changed with 2 new batteries and was ok. We will probably book up for another holiday.

  • "The main problem is no freezer there is plenty of empty cupboard space."

Unfortunately the furniture is arrange that you are unable to look at the front view. Sofa and chair very uncomfortable. The oven did not work and no instructions.A small bath would be better as we were unable to climb into it and the amount of water to fill it would be such a waste.

  • "Absolutely lovely lodge, amazingly location with everything you need at hand, a small freezer would have been great but we will definitely be looking to use the lodge again as Inverness is a great base for sightseeing."

The owner is easy to contact with nothing been to much trouble. Brilliant holiday all round.

  • "Great location by the River Ness, a short walk into town with the Ness Islands close by too."

The property is nice and comfortable, we had a good stay and enjoyed our holiday. Having off-road parking is great especially so close to the town itself. My only reservations are as follows. Constructive criticism only and not a big moan. The property is directly off Ness Walk which does mean you have a lot of people walking by. At all times of the day, not great in the early hours of the morning. The property has no freezer. Maybe not essential, but not ideal if you have arrived having popped to the supermarket and bought frozen food. No freezer is listed on the property details but you would take that as a given. Nowhere to hang or dry clothes. There is a washer / dryer included, not all clothes are dryer friendly if you want them the same size as you put them in. The cooker is great once you get it to work. The letting agent must turn off the appliance each time they ready the property for the next visitors. In doing so the fan oven doesn’t work. There were no instructions at the property so spent half an hour finding and downloading the cooker’s manual and setting the clock which unlocks the oven. Far from ideal. The property guest book could be more detailed and include additional literature for the surrounding area. Little things. The property lacks the personal touch as managed by an agent rather than directly with the property owner. Ending on a more positive note, Inverness is great and this property is a great base to visit the town and surrounding area.

  • "We loved our stay at Porter's Lodge, many of the great things Inverness has to offer were within walking distance, which made it a fantastic base."

We liked being so close to the river too. The lodge was comfortable & well equipped, the only slight negative point to note is that as the house is right next to the pavement you can hear people's conversations as they walk past, which can be slightly annoying at night.

  • "We arrived 16."

00 on 22nd December. The temperature outdoors was minus 2c. The lodge was cold with heating set at 15c. The listing advised electric fire in the lounge. Despite requesting this from the owners representative this was never delivered. Inverness is in The Highlands and our stay was during the winter period. There is nowhere to hang wet coats, indeed no hangers or rails wardrobe to hang any clothes not even a coat hook. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped but there is no coffee machine. The Aga style cooker has a large extractor hood which is in desperate need of replacement filters that are thick with grease. Overall the central location on the banks of The River Ness and easy access to the town centre was appealing. Newly decorated and comfortable beds, linen and towels. The lounge room however was very cold with one inadequate radiator. Nice touch of artificial Christmas tree also appreciated as our stay was over Christmas time. Would we return no! The owners representative ignored our texts regarding the listed electric fire and clothes hangers.

Hello I am disappointed to see you are not entirely satisfied with your stay. The electric fire was faulty and was removed from the property. I'm afraid we did not realise that this was on the property description. Given the feedback on the temperature of the living room. I shall have one installed for future guests. Regarding the lack of reply our regular housekeeper was on holiday for the festive period and I can only presume that the person standing in was not entirely sure how to handle this issue so apologies for this. Thank you for the feedback on the coat clothes hangers and the extraction hood. As a new property, we have overlooked this but rest assured it will be resolved. Regards Blair Property Owner

About the location

INVERNESS

North Kessock 5.9 miles; Dores 9.2 miles; Tomatin 15.5 miles.

The Capital of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Towering mountains, dark lochs, great forests and precipitous sea cliffs are all within easy reach. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the battle, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness itself has much to offer, museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life including red kites, along with dolphins, which can sometimes be seen from the shore, or on trips from the harbour.
