Just Show Me Stow On The Wold Cottages
Fancy somewhere quintessentially English? Then try one of our Stow-on-the-Wold cottages in this charming Cotswold town.
Picture mellow stone buildings in honey-coloured tones located atop a hill and surrounded by idyllic countryside. This is Stow-on-the-Wold, a great touring base to explore the Cotswolds and its many delightful settlements.
At its centre is the huge Market Square, once a bustling trading place for wool - look out for the many alleyways where farmers once herded their flocks. The square comes with an ancient cross and town stocks; there's a lovely church; and around the sides are elegant buildings - the enticing kind with wonderful food and drink. Think chic, contemporary bistros, cosy tearooms and traditional coaching inns.
Or you may prefer to self-cater at your Stow-on-the-Wold cottage. There are some fine food shops in town as well as a big name supermarket just outside, plus some delightful farm shops nearby - great for sampling regional specialities and sometimes PYO.
Stow is also a fantastic place to potter around shops, speciality ones in the main, with antique books, gifts and crafts, fashion, chocolate and galleries.
And when you feel like some exercise, your Stow-on-the-Wold cottage is in the middle of an AONB - a haven for every kind of outdoor pursuit imaginable!
Enjoy cuddles with cute and furry creatures at the Cotswold Farm Park. Chastleton House is a splendid Jacobean house protected by NT. There's a wonderful Norman church at Salperton Park. Or live like royalty at Sezincote, a unique historic home built in the style of a Rajasthani Palace featuring exquisite Mogul décor.
