Enjoy spellbinding views across Morecambe Bay when you book a Bardsea cottage, situated in and around this sleepy seaside village on the unspoilt Furness Peninsula, just southwest of Ulverston.

See & do near your Bardsea cottage

Take time to reflect in the grounds of Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country mansion that's now an international Buddhist college, with tours, café and gift shop. Enjoy a visit and tour of Swarthmoor Hall, original home of George Fox who founded Quakerism. Travel back to the Bronze Age at the Druid's Circle on the east side of Birkrigg Common, featuring two roughly concentric stone rings (like a mini Stonehenge) and blessed with wonderful views over the village and bay beyond. Also close by is Furness Abbey, once England's second richest abbey and protected by English Heritage. Back in Bardsea, admire the many stained glass windows of Holy Trinity Church.

Dust off those boots and stomp along the Cumbria Coastal Way into Bardsea Country Park, an idyllic coastal spot that's great for a picnic with a view. You can access the beach and discover the ancient oak trees of Sea Wood, owned by the Woodland Trust. The park is also popular with bird-watchers and sea anglers. For shopping, the thriving town of Ulverston is just down the road, birthplace of Stan Laurel. And if you've packed your clubs, don't miss Ulverston Golf Course - the views from the greens are truly magical.

Come nightfall, enjoy a relaxing supper in your cosy Bardsea cottage or stroll into the village for refreshments and banter in one of the local pubs.
