children's play areas. Hire a rowing boat or opt for steam
aboard Peak Rail.
If you're travelling with kids, Gulliver's Kingdom hits the spot for 2-13 year olds. Boasting over fifty attractions and cuddly, costumed characters, the terraced park offers all kinds of themes from the Wild West to Fantasyland.
Find culture and retail bliss at the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site at Masson Mills, featuring an exclusive shopping village and working textile museum.
For 'gorge'-dropping views, ride by cable car up to the Heights of Abraham. Explore the nature trails and enjoy a picnic lunch.
On a rainy day, head for The Aquarium, a rather quirky conversion of the old Hydro, the thermal pool now home to carp and the treatment rooms large fish tanks.
For September/October stays, do book your Matlock cottage early for the spectacular Matlock Bath Illuminations - a magical, illuminated boat parade along the floodlit river every Saturday and Sunday evening.
