Welcome to one of England's best preserved medieval towns, awash with black-and-white buildings and oozing atmosphere. Shrewsbury is a delight to explore on foot and there are some fantastic guided tours. You'll discover hundreds of listed buildings and curious street names as you wander the town's cobbled shuts and passageways.
Those with a passion for shopping will love the quirky shops selling all kinds of interesting goods, including sensational food shops and wine merchants - great for stocking your Shrewsbury cottage's cupboards. There's also an indoor market four times a week. If dining out is more your style, Shrewsbury is hot on the heels of nearby Ludlow, with a string of award-winning restaurants, inviting tearooms and cosy pubs.
