Holy Island Cottages

Just show me Holy Island of Lindisfarne Cottages

Please find below a selection of self catering holiday cottages to rent near the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Northumberland.

For scenery and serenity, escape to a Lindisfarne holiday cottage on magical Holy Island. It's a wonderful place for families, nature lovers, walkers and anyone with a passion for cultural heritage.

Accessible from the mainland at low tide via a long causeway, it's lovely to watch the tide come up, knowing you're here to stay if only for a while.

Holy Island is the 'Birthplace of Christianity' and remains a place of pilgrimage today. Browse the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory and unearth its past at the Heritage Centre - invasions by the Vikings, the life of St. Cuthbert and the monks who lived here; even tales about Henry VIII.

For dazzling views, visit the 16th Century Lindisfarne Castle, perched on a rocky outcrop and protected by the National Trust.

Holy Island is a paradise for bird-watching, with over 300 species listed within the National Nature Reserve while, at high tide, grey seals can sometimes be spotted on the beaches.

Talking of beaches, the ones here are made for buckets and spades, rock pooling and kiting, entertaining kids and parents alike. Or discover them on horse-back - an experience not-to-be-missed! For walking, the long-distance ways of St. Cuthbert and St. Oswald both leave from the island.

Savour fresh crab rolls and sumptuous oysters, not to mention local mead, brewed to an ancient recipe. Though it's a small island, there's a choice of restaurants, cafés and pubs.

So if leaving the hustle and bustle behind is important to you, a Lindisfarne cottage could be your perfect match.
