  • "The property was very dirty with dog hair everywhere, only one bathroom for this house, the bathroom door didn’t lock and no blinds or curtains on the bathroom window giving no privacy when using the shower."

Furniture was dated and the sofas very uncomfortable. The bedding was old, I would recommend checking the pillows before use as when we stripped the bed they were disgusting absolutely filthy.

  • "Fantastic stay, excellent location, well equipped."

Sun room awsome. Neighbours were brilliant, on both sides. Only issues were toilet seat loose and toilet and cupboard doors awkward to open. Couch in tv lounge passed its best. Although we only used the tv once.

  • "Lovely area."

Bedding smelt of dogs. Back garden area could do with a make over and little more attention to detail eg: for most appliances and windows. But overall we had a good holiday.

  • "Overall the cottage was lovely, spacious and well equipped but unfortunately there were a lot of things that went wrong while we stayed, windows not being wind tight and blowing open in the bad weather."

.even waking some of us up during the night it was so drafty! The conservatory roof leaked a bit, and a really bad leak at the front door under the large front door mat! Also really lacking basic essentials which for the price of the cottage was really disappointing, no hand soap, no washing up liquid, no dishwasher tablets, no spare binliners not even one. Also bulbs not working in lamps, no sockets working in the living room when we arrived so we had to find the fuse board and sort that out because something had tripped out, and a bedroom window was left wide open when we arrived so the house was absolutely freezing and it took ages to warm up once we’d put the heating on! Sofas need replacing too, so uncomfortable! The good things..lots of space, loads of pots and pans etc in the kitchen which was good for 6 adults, nice shower, good secure garden for the dog, great spot by the harbour and hubby and sons were happy being next door to the pub!

  • "Excellent location on the harbour and right next to the pub."

With a few maintenance issues fixed the property would be excellent too, however it was still very good and we had a comfortable stay. A couple of finishing touches were missing eg extra bin bag, dishwasher tabs, dish sponge/cloth however we were able to buy this at the local shop. We’d love to come back so can only hope that the new owners keep this as a holiday let once it’s sold.

  • "Lovely property, ideal location."

Next to a great pub with best pint of beer and lovely food, great Sunday lunch. (NB booking advised) House was spotless and well equipped with quality items. Only down side was lack of spare bin liners, tinfoil to save oven getting messy and cleaning liquids. Also large sofa wasn’t so comfy but smaller one was fine. We’d definitely return and certainly recommend to others.

  • "The house was lovely and in a great location."

Owner came and put bins out for collection. Both double beds could do with new mattresses. I am happy always to keep house clean but lack of cleaning equipment. I don't think at cost of house customer should have to buy cleaning stuff. Had to purchase fairy liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet cleaner etc. Hoover left to clean was a joke. Had not been emptied and fell apart and made cleaning up twice as hard. Put this right and house is a gem and loved staying here. Would we come again definitely. We also had a caravan from same people on Findochty Park. Excellent ask for caravan 11. Put the cleaning stuff in both. Only downside for us we have 3 dogs and can only bring one to house. Neighbours nice. Pub good for friendliness and having a drink. Food expensive and not the beat. Findochty beautiful and could not have had a better location for the house.

  • "The location of the cottage is great, the bedrooms were comfortable however everything is getting very tired."

The Sofas in both the living room and conservatory were extremely uncomfortable .The information booklet states that there is free golf available at the local course however when I contacted the owners to book , I was informed that it was not available and when I asked if that was due to the course being closed or the house no longer having membership my message was never answered.

  • "Comfortable for our needs as a base and clean which is very important."

Lovely view from the front. Some of the bath towels were old and in need of replacement, for example bleach stains/discolouration was not very welcoming. There were no tea towels or dish cloths provided but I brought one of each from home just in case. There was a used green scourer pad and dish brush on arrival which we avoided. We brought a little washing up liquid, laundry liquid, kitchen roll from home which came in handy. We left behind our leftover hand wash and some of the above for the next guests. Someone else had left behind washing up liquid. We also brought some bin/food bags although someone had left some bin bags but we used our own. The conservatory has a few leaks when it’s raining heavy which I’m sure the owner already knows about, given the faint damp tide marks on the walls and the wet arm of the chair close to the exterior door. We did not use the outdoor furniture as they were a health and safety hazard and should have been removed and replaced prior to guests arriving. Legs seem to be missing and someone has placed large stones underneath to hold them up. The cleaners/owner will know about this and a previous guest mentioned. We wondered if the BBQ was safe next to wooden shed/fence. The grill part was balancing on stones. The bedroom downstairs has a badly fitted window causing the strong wind to blow the curtains around quite forcefully especially on the first and second night of our stay. Some of the crockery was tired. We would definitely visit the area again but would choose a different property next time. Nice food served next door. We did not find the pub too noisy at all and everyone we met on our travels was so lovely and friendly. Overall we enjoyed our stay in beautiful surroundings but the property is overpriced given the issues above.

  • "The property was very clean and beautifully situated right on the Harbour front."

It has all the main appliances including a dishwasher but lacking in basics. No oven gloves,no extra bin bags, very old pans, and no welcoming touches. Although there is a welcoming folder it definetely needs updated and the password for the WiFi is not easily found. It is written on the back of one of the instruction pages in the folder and it took us a couple of days to find it. We had an enjoyable stay in this lovely cottage but would rate it as adequate with room for improvement especially with making it more welcoming whilst providing more up to date information.

  • "Very disappointed in this property."

Strong smell of stale cigarette smoke when opened the front door. Several windows with 'Do not open' signs on them, with the downstairs bedroom window locked (this is a fire hazard) but the occupant was far too hot with no ventilation options. Furthermore, to be missing basics (salt, pepper, handsome, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cooking oil etc) is just not acceptable nowadays. Ask other Sykes properties have this. This was especially irritating as there are no shops in Findochty and we had to do a Tesco run to Buckie for basics. Such a shame a the area is beautiful and this lack of attention to detail and the smell really spoiled our stay.

  • "The village is lovely, the people are lovely, the owner seems lovely, however I would not recommend this cottage for anyone with young children or anyone elderly."

If you like being near a pub and are sociable then you might love it here. The pub is inches from the cottage and people do drink outside so its too noisy for kids to sleep who would be in the front bedroom. In the week its fine and peaceful but at the weekend its quite noisy. On arrival they had a karaoke party outside the pub with a full PA system and everyone outside and the cottage actually shook with the noise. Im not sure if this happens regularly ir if its a special event. The people are very pleasant in the village and we did enjoy our stay, its just the proximity to the pub that i personally found difficult but each to their own. I absolutely love Scotland as I have deep roots here.
