  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rhydau Cottage."

Lots to do and see in Snowdonia and Anglesey especially when you enjoy nature and hiking. Lovely villages and castles to visit too. On the whole the facilities were great, but there are one or two things that could be improved upon. Adding scissors, kindling and matches for the woodburner and the hoover is very heavy and cumbersome. But these are small details. We very much enjoyed our stay.

  • "Whilst the barn conversion was very creatively thought out and completed to the highest standards we were unable to feel comfortable staying in the property."

The outside seating area is poorly thought out, not welcoming or comfortable, no shade provided and exposed to constant traffic noise. The dining area was disappointing as the chairs were too low for the table… Upon arrival and contacting the owner as requested we did not experience any welcome then or throughout our stay. There was nothing to welcome us in the property either. Ie information about the local area…shops, eateries, emergency services etc. The property was not well cleaned. Crumbs under settee cushions, food on dining chairs, un-ironed bed linen, holders on sink un-cleaned and the shower required attention. There were lots of cobwebs and dust… The location for our holiday was however spot on, giving easy access to the national park, Anglesey, and the Llyn Peninsula.

  • "The cottage was excellent."

It was well looked after and cosy to settle down in. There were just two things that were difficult. 1. Lack of accurate directions to get to the cottage. If we had been told about the “Paintball” signs that pointed directly to the cottage it would have been easier. 2. Little / no information about “good” eating places locally. We did find one, but the was no guidance. Other than these two grumbles it was a great holiday.

  • "The interior of the cottage was just as the photos shows, it was clean and warm and the wood burner was a nice addition."

. I agree with previous reviewers; the outdoor seating area could be a bit more pleasant, perhaps with some sort of covering and screening and the kitchen could do with more crockery - only had 4 mugs. The overly large and high dining table and low dining chairs made mealtimes slightly uncomfortable. The shower room has no slip resistant mat and there are no blinds at the windows. Please be aware the property stated no pets, this is one of our booking requirements as my husband has a bad alleges to dogs and cats. The owners have two cats that were always trying to enter the property when the door was opened.

The interior of the cottage was of a very high standard and would definitely recommend it. If I could improve anything it would be to make the outdoor seating area a bit more pleasant, perhaps with some sort of covering. And provide a non-slip mat for the shower. About the location

  • Llanberis 4 miles
  • Caernarfon 8 miles
  • Bangor 8 miles

The village of Deiniolen, housing a village pub and shop, is 4 miles north of Llanberis, on the border of the Snowdonia National Park, making it an ideal base to explore the National Park. The Llanberis Railway runs nearby along the banks of Lake Padarn, whilst the ruins of Dolbadarn Castle are 2 miles away, or visit Ceunant Mawr, a cascading waterfall just outside Llanberis. Local walks lead to the Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir on the northern slopes of Elidir Fawr. Llanberis is 4 miles away and is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a “mecca” for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26 mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. On the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd.
