We loved our stay at East Firwood and genuinely had a great time.

The house was immaculately clean and wonderfully spacious for our group. We particularly appreciated the ample seating in the living room – nobody had to squash up or end up on an uncomfortable chair – and there was loads of space throughout the house. The kitchen was really well equipped too. Both bathrooms had good showers and, importantly for a group, there was more than enough hot water for everyone to have a shower every day. A huge thank you for allowing us to bring a third small dog. The utility room access was absolutely brilliant for muddy paws and wellies, and having a lovely walk straight out of the back gate and through the woods was perfect for taking the dogs out first thing in the morning. The location was excellent too, with Rothesay town centre only around a 10-minute walk away. We often walked down the drive and along the seafront into the centre, then came home through the woods and back in through the rear gate, which made a really lovely circular walk. Communication from the owner was great throughout and very much appreciated. The only thing that wasn’t quite to our personal taste was the memory foam mattresses – they’re one of those things you either love or don’t, and our group definitely isn’t in the memory foam camp! Very much a matter of personal preference though. A couple of useful things for future guests to be aware of, neither of which caused us any problems: the garden isn’t fully secure, so those bringing dogs may need to keep an eye on them – although perhaps that was also why we were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from a deer! Parking is a little tight too. We found it easiest to reverse down the steep drive as there wasn’t enough room for us to turn at the top. Again, absolutely fine for us, but useful to know before arriving. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. East Firwood gave us loads of space, a brilliant location for both Rothesay and dog walks, and a really comfortable base for our holiday. We’d happily recommend it.

Fabulous accommodation with loads of room for 4 adults and 2 pets!

The views were gorgeous and it comes very well equipped with kitchen utensils. A few cooking basics are around also and tea/instant coffee (with a coffee pod machine and cafetière if you bring supplies). Loads of fridge and freezer space in 2 separate fridge freezers. Nice and warm throughout and the underfloor heating was lovely. Easy to walk into town in about 10 minutes, although the house is at the top of a steep hill so those with mobility issues may need to take it easy. There is a path at the back of the property you can use for a woodland walk to Ardencraig Gardens or town. Plenty of room for 2 cars to park and turn easily. We struggled a little with the front door key not turning when locking but you just need to find the 'knack'! Generally really clean throughout, the tops of windows were a little grubby when we went to open them and the rugs were a bit strained but clean. 1 bathroom door only shuts when you lock it. Lots of hot water and really good showers. The views where just gorgeous from the livingroom and there is a nice garden to sit in outside, although the furniture is a little worse for wear the grass is nice to sit on. We'd highly recommend this property and would love to come back. Great communication from the property owner - just remember to know the name of the house when calling the housekeeper for the lockbox code when you arrive!

Great property and plenty of space for the whole family.

Being so high up, you got great views over Rothesay to the mainland. Very well stocked house from kitchen equipment, to games and books for entertainment. Comfortable beds. First experience of underfloor heating was very nice too. Blinds in property are not blackout. Drive up to property would benefit with some bushed being trimmed. Would definitely recommend.
