Starfish Cottage

Cottage was generally good, and great location with tremendous views.

Sykes are the only thorn in the side, as once they have your money, they don't care about anything else. I have two official complaints in to Sykes about the way they give third party organisations customer details, and they haven't got back to me at all - they really are dreadful.

The cottage is well situated for travelling around the Island plus catching the ferry to and from Mull.

Panoramic views looking across the Sound of Mull. Very dog friendly accommodation, with both the front and back garden fenced, keeping adventurous springer spaniels in. Would highly recommend!

Accommodation was very comfortable in a lovely area with spectacular views.

Everything that you needed was in the accommodation. Wi-Fi is intermittent but that is to be expected in the area.

Brilliant position, very quiet, easy access to the north and south of the Island.

Needs some TLC.

We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the kitchen and bin.

The small appliances , kettle and toaster were dirty and interior of drawers etc were also not cleaned properly. On departure we realised the mattress protector was stained when we stripped the bed. The sofas need upgrading, the large one particularly was particularly worn out and we did not use it. The WiFi and tv reception did not operate properly during our stay although the landlord did fix it at the end. Overall I think the property has great potential as its situation is good for touring Mull. But we won’t be using it again. Cleanliness and comfort is key for us !

We had a fabulous week in Starfish Cottage.

We walked every day, the weather was mixed but coming back to the cottage was always such a joy. The sauna, the bath and the shower. The constant temperature was also a great feature, it was never cold and topping it up on an evening with the woodburner was the icing on the cake. Stunning views from the cottage and a great location to explore Mull. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovley stay in starfish lots of great walks nearby.

The isle of Mull is a really great place to visit for walks and wildlife.

The cottage is in a lovely location perched on the hillside overlooking the Sound of Mull and beyond.

It's location also provides easy access to Tobermoray, Salen and Craignure. The cottage itself is very comfortable and well equipped and overall was very good value for money. Would definitely return.

the location for starfish cottage was superb.

The view is mesmerising overlooking The Sound of mull. We spotted sea eagles from the garden. It was just off the main road not far from Fishnish , so convenient for trips out to Tobermory & beyond. We did hope to see Otters by the shore,as" beware otter "signs were nearby. However we did see one near Craignure. So lots to see,plenty of places to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Purpose built as holiday accommodation Starfish Cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equipped. We shall be back!

Lovely, warm and cosy cottage.

It was a pleasure to stay in this very quiet and peaceful setting, just what we wanted. We will miss the view over the Sound of Mull from the picture window watching the various ferries, boats and birds flying around the cottage. The sauna, steam shower and jacuzzi bath were a welcome treat after a day out exploring the Island. The property is very well set out, with lovely large rooms and the sofas and the bed were very comfortable. We would not hesitate in recommend this cottage. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

The property is very spacious and has fantastic views both front and back.

Even saw a Whitetail Eagle flying over and around several times while we were there as well as deer and lots of different birds which is why we go to Mull. The cottage was warm and inviting and had everything we needed. There is a log burning fire as well, however we didn’t need it. We enjoyed our time there so much that we booked for next year.

This is our second stay at these cottages and they never disappoint.

They have fantastic views everything in the cottages is high standard . We never want to leave at the end of our holiday. We have booked for 2 weeks next year as 1 week is not long enough on mull or at the cottages . Would highly recommend but they get booked up quickly so book early

We stayed 7 nights at the cosy starfish cottage.

Fantastic views and great cottage. It had alot of space which we didn't expect from the outside. Kitchen was large and well equipped we used the washer once during the stay as we were moving elsewhere the next week. The underfloor heating was surprisingly efficient never had it before. Very central for exploring Mull, from the top to the bottom, lovely walks for our dog. The only minus we found and that probably due to older joints was the low sofa.

As always the cottage and it’s surroundings were everything you could want : clean, comfortable, well maintained and of course in the most wonderful setting.

Donald is so helpful, friendly and welcoming. My annual stay here in the Spring does more for my well being than any medication ever could

Really good facilities for a self catering break but not far to restaurants if you fancy a change. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here thankyou.

I planned our stay as a 60th birthday surprise for my husband.

All the planning & secrecy was so worthwhile. We were both thrilled at the cottage, it's location, facilities, in fact everything. We would & do highly recommend, and its definately a firm return for us

This was a fabulous cottage in a wonderful location overlooking the Sound of Mull.

Great central location for exploring the island and neighbouring Ulva and Iona. The facilities were of very high quality with easy access to the owner if anything went wrong ( not that we had any need). A very luxurious stay , highly recommended.

We had an absolutely lovely time, location and views are next to none and the additional bathroom facilities were very welcome after a long days walking!

We did find the pillows a little too soft, but that may just be our preference - we're looking to be back again in future!

We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is warm and comfortable with exceptional views.

We stayed in two of the cottages , my daughter and partner were in Driftwood , both cottages were excellent, facilities were very good, stunning views, central for visiting anywhere on Mull, Spar in Salen very well stocked .

Perfect location for travelling to various parts of the island.

Spacious, very comfortable, great views and can't knock the facilites. Perhaps could do with a deep clean - found a sock down the side of the sofa and had to clean out the tumble drier/filter before we could use it. Would definitely return.

Great location, friendly hosts.

But the accommodation needs some attention and a thorough deep clean. Weekly cleaning appears superficial. We arrived to find the wood burner open and ash all over the floor. Windows and window sills very grubby as was the back of chairs. Pillows were very stained as we found out when we removed the linen at the end of the week. Bathroom and sauna in good order, which was at odds with rusty baking sheets covered in foil. Which is a shame as it could be really nice.

We stayed a week at the cottage.

Probably the best holydays of our lives. Mull is so stunning... The cottage was awesome, very comfortable, and well situated. We felt at home from the beginning to the end of our stay. We met Donald several times, very nice gentleman and it was great chatting with him a few times :) we will definitely come back again!

The property was perfect in its position, fantastic views and peace and quiet.

The bed was one of the most comfortable we have had on holiday and the owner who was staying in the cottage next door was extremley hospitable and helpful when we had a problem with our car, on balance we would love to return, however the property is in need of an update, the kitchen and bathroom are very tired, and cleanliness was a bit of an issue, window ledges were covered in dead insects and the blinds in bathroom were very dirty, We don't usually do reviews so we hope this review is helpful to the owner and anyone wishing to stay.

The island is beautiful.

We were lucky to visit in such good weather and when the place was so quiet. Every day we explored new parts of the island... taking our dog, Bertie, for walks and picnics on beaches, in forests, up Ben More... a beautiful island with lots of wildlife and stunning scenery. 'So glad we went. The cottage was fantastic... just right for what we needed... easy to access, with fantastic views out of every window. The log-burner kept the place really warm. We hope to visit again in the future.

Starfish cottage was absolutely wonderful and extremely good value for money.

We have visited many cottages but this was one of the best. Lovely views, great location and added extras like the sauna and jacuzzi bath were great. We met the owner who checked on the houses after the storms and he was really friendly too. Would happily go back and could spend a couple of weeks there easily. Our dog loved it too.

There was nothing not to like about this cottage comfortable, well equipped, clean throughout and a view from a a full length window in the lounge that could not be better all in all a very nice place to spend a holiday any time.

One last thought the bathroom must be the best equipped of any we have ever stayed at on holiday.

To say this cottage surpassed expectations would be wildly understating the fact!

This was less like a holiday cottage but more like a luxury small home, in fact in terms of amenities there is more in this cottage than I have at my home! Not to mention the views which are beyond amazing, we were even lucky enough to have an eagle (could have been a buzzard, but given the size I am thinking Golden Eagle) swing by for a close view. The views themselves would be enough to sell this place, but the comfort and facilities are second to none. Cozying up in the evening with the dog in front of the fire and a movie on looking out the picture window was spectacular. As an aside, any communication I had with the owner was fantastic; really pleasant, friendly, and quick to come back.

facilities are excellent, sauna is a nice touch and scenery from windows are awesome. if you want a peaceful relaxing holiday this is the place.

This was our second visit to Starfish Cottage + we will absolutely be booking again for next year.

Such an amazing place to visit. There really are no negatives. Highlights of the cottage are the log burner + incredible views. It's perfect for our dog with a large fully enclosed garden. The island itself has too many amazing walks to fit into one week. The Mishnish pub in Tobermory does an amazing fish + chips

Fantastic property.

Starfish Cottage was really comfortable, views were incredible too (could literally sit on the sofa and enjoy vies right over the Sound of Mull!!) Lots of lovely wildlife around as well as the friendly horses and dog from the neighboring farmhouse. The Jacuzzi bath, sauna and steam power shower were amazing,especially after long days exploring. Mull as a whole was stunning and a week just isnt long enough to see everything so we will definitely return again!!!!

Nice cottage, well thinking, nice view and clean.

The cottage location, position, kitchen, lounge and bedroom fine but the bathroom was well below expectations - and a lot is made of this in the write up!

!!! The water supply to the shower was very hot, almost impossible to stand under. The temperature control was malfunctioning. Given that the sauna was next door it should have been possible to regulate from cold to hot easely. A very fancy and expensive piece of equipment but impossible to use for more than a few seconds at a time! The jacuzzi seemed to be a complete waste of water being almost big enough for two people. Switched it on but couldn't switch it off, except at the supply. You don't expect to hire a cottage with the description on your site and then be expected to use drinking water from plastic bottles. I had a feeling that this was not a recent malfunction and it really needs sorting out. I have no problem with water supply coming off the mountain, or discolouration, but guests should not be expected to experience any problems with water supply.

We have stayed at Starfish cottage in the past and we were delighted with it but on this occasion I felt that the standard of cleanliness had slipped slightly I had to clean the bath before we could use it and the sink in kitchen needed cleaned a quick vacuum over the floors and it was fine other than that I would definitely go back we had a fantastic relaxing holiday x

The midges are really bad but the views from the cottage more than make up for them, ( just take plenty repellant and keep covered ).

Easy to find cottage from Craignure ferry.

Spacious everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Wonderful view from the lounge and bedroom. The sauna and jacuzzi bath are a real bonus after a day walking. The garden is secure for dogs to wander around in happily. Very quiet and peaceful and you can even see the white tailed eagles flying above the cottage.

We had to contact the owner with a couple of questions, he was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

We would highly recommend these cottages.

Cottage is equipped home from home facilities which was great; scenery around the cottage was breath taking and very peaceful.

Cottage is not far from the ferry and Salen is central to get around the Island to see wildlife.

The cottage was in a beautiful location and perfect for visiting all parts of the island.

We love Mull and Starfish cottage was perfect for us and our 3 dogs.

the cottage itself and the greeting from Donald and the cleaning ladies was very warm and welcoming.Nothing was too much trouble,even best fishing/walking spots were given!

Wonderful cottage on beautiful Mull.

The view from the window was stunning! Comfy, homely cottage with lovely wood burner. Bathroom facilities fab and our dog loved the underfloor heating. Would highly recommend.

The cottage was amazing with beautiful views and well equipped etc.

The only niggle was the bed which creaked horrendously so we had to put it on the floor to sleep!
