Harts Cottage is a delightful property situated in the vibrant and historic town of Kirkcudbright, just a short walk from a wealth of amenities.
This heart-warming getaway boasts a refreshing mix of contemporary and character features in a end of terrace property that is perfect for families to call home while exploring the wonders of Dumfries and Galloway.
The kitchen/diner has all you could want for a short break including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, along with the added luxuries of underfloor heating and a gas stove to keep you toasty in the winter.
Carry the conversation into the sitting room, offering a welcoming feel with a woodburning stove, where you can flick through the Smart TV in search of a favourite film, or simply kick back and reflect on the holiday so far.
As the night rolls in, head upstairs to the master bedroom, benefitting from a double aspect space with a Smart TV and king-size bed, here you can rest your head following a day of outdoor hiking.
Across the landing is a charming twin room, suitable for little ones, along with a refreshing shower room where you can step under the rainfall shower to prepare for the day.
Accessed via a narrow lane, the property benefits from a tranquil garden which is separate from the house, offering a lovely space for a family barbecue and alfresco dining.
Be sure to explore the charm of Kirkcudbright; meander the charming streets lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings, including Broughton House, a smart Georgian townhouse which was once the home of the artist Edward Hornel, now showcasing collections of art, ceramics, furniture, and literature.
Indeed, Harts Cottage is situated on High Street directly opposite where Hornel lived.
A wide collection of independent shops should satisfy your shopping cravings, while many traditional pubs and tempting eateries will ensure you don’t go hungry.
There is also a busy harbour and marina which offers a delightful haven to stop and enjoy the atmosphere of this historic harbour town.
For the more energetic there are some excellent walking and cycling routes on the doorstep and the town also has a swimming pool, golf course and tennis courts.
Alternatively enjoy a day at the beach or explore The Galloway Hills and Forest Park.
The owners are close at hand to offer information and guidance on exploring the area.
Harts Cottage is a delightful property providing an ideal spot to discover the wonders of Dumfries and Galloway often referred to as Scotland’s Hidden Gem.

What guests are saying
Beautifully restored traditional stone cottage, decorated and furnished to a high standard, surprisingly spacious, warm and very well equipped.
Our welcome pack was much appreciated as was the guest information folder which we frequently referred to. Useful takeaway directions for walks were included. Even though it was too cold to sit outside the small garden across the road would be a lovely place to sit in warmer months. Kirkcudbright is a charming town full of interest with plenty to do and lots of independent shops reminding us of how town centres used to be. Broughton House (NT) with its delightful garden is on the same street as the cottage and a little further on is the waterfront with views over the estuary. Harts Cottage makes a great base for exploring beautiful Dumfries & Galloway. We had a great holiday and highly recommend the cottage.
We had a great stay at Hart's Cottage.
The cottage was spotless and we appreciated the generous welcome pack on our arrival. The cottage was well maintained and had everything we could possibly need. The bed was very comfy and there was plenty of wardrobe space.... with a good supply of hangers! We were able to easily find a parking space very close by. We totally recommend a stay here in the lovely town of Kirkcudbright.
Hart Cottage is very well equipped.
Spotlessly clean. We had a comfortable and relaxing week. No problem parking. Close to shop and amenities, but not in the busiest areas. Sea gulls a bit noisy, at times, but not too much of a problem. I would recommend Hart Cottage to friends and family, and would definitely return.
