Greystones

We have just returned from a week's stay in this cottage and had a great time.

The cottage itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed; the location was perfect, just a few steps away from great views, and amazing sunsets. We were very lucky with the weather, and enjoyed being able to sit out and eat in the garden. There are so many lovely places to visit in the area; we would recommend the White Loch of Myrton, Port Logan, the Botanic Gardens, Isle of Whithorn and Garlieston. Also, if you have time, take a walk in the Forest as the views are impressive. The View on the harbour is really friendly and we ate there a couple of times to support a worthy cause. We loved the area, the cottage, and hope to visit again.

Lovely small cottage.

.. nice outlook. Expected it to be for 2/3 people but obviously used by larger families due to the amount of stuff/ clutter in cupboards. Some nice touches but needs a bit of TLC and organising things like equipment instructions lacking.

We loved our week at Greystones Cottage and would definitely go again.

The cottage was very cosy and well worth the price for the week which was extremely reasonable. It is small and compact in places but that makes it all the more lovely. It also has a very ample to garden and lovely neighbours too. Vivienne was a very easy host to chat to via email and, if we had experienced any problems we are sure she would have helped us out quickly. We loved the area around Port William, having been before we knew what to see and where to go but it was still lovely, as was the weather.

This little cottage is a gem what a beautiful welcome by the owner Vivienne for our Christmas break thanks.

Port william is a lovely little port with everything you need great walks along the coast definitely coming back soon.

We enjoyed a lovely week at Greystones!

All the conveniences were there for us and parking in front of the house was very much appreciated. It was a nice, quiet holiday for us, and overlooking the bay was peaceful and beautiful. We would highly recommend it and we'll always have great memories of the little cottage!

! Such a relaxing little cottage!! Did not need The TV ,just relaxed upstairs in The Bedroom watching The sea and The weather!! Definitely The best Sunsets I have ever seen!! Everyone in port William, so friendly!! Would most definitely recommend Greystones if you need a chilled break!!

Beautiful scenery, homely cottage a truly restful holiday.

The property was cosy for 2, cramped for 3, yet with bedding for 5.

Because of the steep stair and distance to the ground floor bathroom at the back of the house, we opted to sleep in the 2 downstairs single beds instead of the upstairs double bed which would have been our preference. One of the downstairs mattresses was rather uncomfortable so we took turns in the more comfortable bed which meant that neither of us had a particularly restful stay. When our son joined us we found the accommodation rather cramped. During the exceptionally warm spell the upstairs bedroom was also uncomfortably warm with only one opening window, rather a shame as this room has the nicest views and is also the best decorated. The wood burning stove downstairs must make it cosy in winter but neither of the small sofas was very comfortable. There is a nice long garden at the back but it is quite overgrown at the top which is a shame, as otherwise this would be a good spot to enjoy the seaviews and stunning sunsets. The bathroom was fine with a powerful electric shower over the bath. Most of the cupboards were untidy giving the impression that the property isn't very well maintained. The husband tried to be helpful over the phone when we had a problem with the WiFi, but it is difficult to give an overall positive review of this property.

Beautiful cottage with everything you need.

Cozy feel and very clean. To say there is a road outside your door you hear absolutely nothing and is very peaceful at night. Stunning sea views front and spacious garden to the back. Only a short walk to a cafe, spar and a food take out...but that's it. Only thing we found was you definitely need a car to get out and about so be prepared to travel at least half hour to places. Recommend travelling to mull of Galloway, isle of Whithorn and Port Patrick. All In all we went to relax and that's what we did. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful cottage!

The views are outstanding especially from the bedroom window I could sit up there for hours just watching the sea .

There is everything you could want and more in the cottage it's so comfortable. Port William may seem small but the shop is well stocked with a great selection of goods .

This was an amazing cosy cottage in every way, clean tidy and very homely.

Had a lovely winter break, with lots of walking and cosy nights in front of the fire with a good book. The cottage had plenty of books and puzzles to help with entertainment. The only thing I would say and this is a very small thing compared to the whole week, was the shower power. This however did not spoil the week away, I will definitely book to return to this cosy cottage. A big thank you to the owner for thinking of all the cosy things needed.

Greystones is a great little cottage located right on the seafront, cozy and comfortable especially when you light the logburner after a long day out , fantastic veiws out into luce bay it really is a great place to visit.

We were very comfortable.

The cottage was lovely had everything you needed The log burner looked inviting to use but having great weather it wasn't needed .

Their was lots of books and games etc for kids . The garden was great ,we had lovely weather so made good use of it .It was good having a bedroom downstairs as well as bathroom my 90 year old mum was with us so it meant everything was on the one level for her .Also having washing machine was great. The locality of the cottage was fantastic you looked out onto the sea what a view .Would definitely recommend a visit to the cottage .

Very clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The views are stunning and the location, right by the beach, is perfect for looking at the breathtaking sunsets. We had a lovely holiday.

Maybe blinds in the living room for sun and privacy during the day otherwise a great stay.

We had a lovely cosy 4 night stay at Greystones for a relaxed and quiet Christmas.

The cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed. We loved the woodburning stove and there was plenty of wood to keep us toasty warm. Waking up to the sound of crashing waves was wonderful and having our morning coffee whilst looking out to sea was very relaxing. .....'What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to 'sit' and stare'! Despite the storm we still managed to get out to the Mull of Galloway lighthouse (as you'd recommended) where we enjoyed a lovely walk with great views (without getting wet). Thank you for our stay in your lovely cottage.

This is the most homely holiday rental I have ever stayed in.

This charming character property had everything we needed on a practical level; everything in the cottage was both thoughtfully and tastefully appointed. We didn’t use the garden much but it was well kept, the lawn mowed mid week, and there were chairs and a table for use if needed. The bedding and soft furnishings were lovely and the overall impression is of a well loved, well used and well cared for cottage. I very much hope we have the opportunity to stay at Greystones again in the future.

The property is deceptively large inside.

It is comfortable and the views from the front room and upstairs bedroom are amazing. During our week we saw beautiful sunsets, experienced a storm and, explored the area. The house was clean, well equipped and warm. The log burner was a bonus with heat from it permeating throughout the house. The local residents were very friendly and ready to chat.

Very quiet and peaceful if that’s what you want would stay again if in the area

Quaint and quirky has the Port William old school charm.

But too many downsides to this property compared to others in village. Kitchen cluttered and no room for any food or worktop space. Living room fine for 2 or 3 people but no seating for any more as layout again cramped and cluttered. Bedrooms good but did not even unpack as very little storage. Biggest issue is living area is infested with fleas or other biting insects as all left with dozens of bites after stay. No pets allowed so hard to understand! Note left on arrival indicating kitchen drains blocked and use Mr Muscle to unblock if required! A simple cleaning out of plug filter sorted that! Perhaps overall poor cleaning regime? Cleaners at door 10am sharp ushering us out. Not a very inviting or hospitable stay.

Lovely little cottage in the picturesque village of Port William in Dumfries and Galloway.

Accommodation was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a short stay. Beds were comfortable and the wood burner gave off an incredible amount of heat. The window seat in the bedroom was ideal for looking out over the water watching the world go by. A very good location for exploring this part of the country.

A super cottage in a great location.

Perfect base to explore the sea fishing opportunities east and west of THE PORT.The pier itself was so handy for short sessions when the weather permitted.Will provide details of venues at a later date from Stairhaven to Monrieth. A REEL FIND!!

cosy and comfortable cottage.

Downside was the bathroom which was at the back of the property with very steep stairs to contend with. The view from the upstairs double bedroom was amazing. However the beach was inaccessible and very stony. Overall enjoyed our stay even with the atrocious weather!

Perfect in every way!

Wow!

Just wonderful - so cosy and comfy. Loved the fire - just lit it one night, wonderful. Bed was so comfy - bed sheets so soft! Great kitchen - we stayed in and cooked two nights and everything there that we needed. Just loved our stay - we will re-book soon.

this little cottage was excellent it had everything you could need for a stay .

everything was easy to use the woodburner was all set too with a gd supply of logs and kindling as well . lots of games/puzzles/jigsaw and stuff in case you where stuck for something to do . saved the best bit to last the views absolutely outstanding from upstairs and downstairs on a clear day the views of the mull of galloway are beautiful . fantastic stay and if we decided to come to the area would have no hesitation in staying at greystones again .

The house is very well equipped with tea towels, kitchen utensils etc.

,a clothes line and pegs . The heating, the shower and the cooker were so easy to use. The cottage was lovely and the views and the garden so enjoyable.

Greystones is a comfortable and very well-equipped cottage, and the extra touches like local maps and guide books really helped us make the most of the area.

The cottage is beautifully decorated - a lovely home to relax in.

This cottage is a little gem in a lovely village, it is tastefully decorated and we were looking forward to enjoying our stay, however this cott age has not been deep cleaned for covid, thecleaner must clean round things instead of moving them, we found empty lager cans under the sofa and the floors were full of bits, we had to hoover.

The kitchen and bathroom could also do with a good clean, things were grimy. It may seem we are being petty but with the current situation surely cleanliness is a must, however the lady who owns it was very informative and helpful and may not be aware of the situation if she doesn't visit often.

Overall, I was very happy - the only slight negative was the cottage was not as clean as it could have been.

Microwave required cleaning internally before use & a couple of other areas in the kitchen & bathroom also required cleaning before use, which was disappointing. That said, overall very much enjoyed my stay.

Very comfy cottage.

Views from both inside the cottage and the garden were great.

My concern is often about parking near the property.

In this case I needn’t have worried. There was plenty of space. The directions were good and we had no difficulty finding our cottage. The views from the upstairs windows are brilliant. We had a good view of the sunset and, later in the week, of the rough seas. Very impressive! Wigtown is the Scottish book town and we got quite a few bargains. Parking in the town is ample. We had a good holiday.

The cottage was very comfortable, and the fire was amazing!

We had a lovely time there even if we had a bit of a drive to get anywhere. We managed to visit Castle Kennedy, Belfast (to see the Titanic Exhibition), and the Mull of Galloway. There is a fantastic Italian Restaurant in Sorle. Such a surprise.

We had a lovely stay at Greystones Cottage, the owner was very friendly and informative, the cottage was cosy, and it was the perfect location to relax and unwind and watch the seabirds on the shore and the magnificent sunsets.

We also had wall to wall sunshine, every single day, which made our holiday complete.

A very peaceful cottage that helped us to unwind as soon as we arrived.

The markdown in comfort was only because of the sofas in the lounge which we found a little uncomfortable for us personally. The seating in the bedroom was a smashing idea. Would visit again.
