The Studio, Horseshoe Cottage

The Studio was a nice little place.

We received a nice warm welcome from the owners. We marked it down a little due to the lack of space in the shower/toilet room and the number of times we forgot about the sloping ceiling upstairs.

Lovely location, beautiful hollyhocks outside the door in outdoor seating area.

Plenty of parking space. Nice and clean inside property, comfortable bed. We went in a hot week in July and upstairs where the sleeping area/lounge is it was extremely warm, although there are fans provided. This isn’t really the owner’s fault and we would stay here again but probably when it’s not so hot. Bathroom is very small but was ok for us.

We were able to use it as an excellent base to visit local places.. Sadly as we had a heat wave and owning a gog this restricted where we could travel but as Fulbourn Fen was just a few yards away this offered a shaded place to visit when it was really hot. Elaine and Geoff were very helpful with suggestions for visits.

The Studio was just what we needed, in a lovely location, with friendly hosts.

It fulfilled our practical requirements and provided a very pleasant change of scene complete with hollyhocks and a muntjac!

Amazing collection of books! Studio snug and well equipped. Possibly not the best choice for anyone with mobility issues.

Nothing was too much trouble. The studio was very comfortable, clean and had everything I needed for my 4 week stay.

The location was perfect, we visited Wimpole, Anglesey Abbey, Wicken Fen and had lots of nice walks in Cambridgeshire. The cottage was exactly as we expected from the listing and photos. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were next door and were friendly and helpful. We would happily stay here again.

Very warm welcome.

The major of the property was comfortable, the bathroom was far too small, the shower almost unusable, you needed to be a contortionist to use the toilet, which was not effectivly segregated from the kitchen- the only door directly into the kitchen was a sliding door . Upstairs,the majority of the space was unusable, due to the sloping roof. This was not emphasized in the description. Unfortunately, we wouldn't stay here again, or recommend the property to others.

I was so much at peace among the surrounding beauty of the outdoors The enclosed yard provided a freeing romp for our puppy.

The owners were prompt in responding to any need we had and went beyond expectations to help us with information and help with special needs we had for our dog. The nearby walking paths were lovely. The limitations of the cottage were mentioned in earlier reviews

Lovely property and in a lovely village location with plenty of amenities close by ( nice pubs, shops, take away etc).

Really good dog walks on the doorstep. Hosts were welcoming ( chocolates a lovely touch) but left you to your own devices. The paddock for the dog was nice but as it’s not securely gated we had to keep our little one on the lead and would be nice to have a secure area by the front door so you could just let them out and use the seated area without keeping them on the lead. We only noticed the issue about head height from reviews post booking, not an issue for me but my partner is over 6ft so he had a slightly bruised forehead. The weather was not on our side but overall a lovely place to stay and the accommodation would cater for mostly all needs and would book again if we were heading back to the area.

It’s a small place, but quite roomy upstairs.

It has all the facilities needed at a very reasonable price. Fulwood is a lovely village, with good shops and two pubs.

The accommodation functions satisfactory but with some restrictions of washing facilities.

The underfloor heating at ground floor is adequate as background heating but additional heating at 1st floor is needed in colder conditions.

Such a lovely location to stay - perfect for dog walks straight from the door.

The Studio was well equipped and the bed was particularly comfortable for a good nights sleep.

We did enjoy our stay at the studio, It was very cosy, and the kitchen well equipped.

It could do with being updated thought, the shower room was very small. It was a nice place for dog walking as woods were just down the road.

Unusual studio apartment, at the side and over garages.

Well equipped kitchen and nicely furnished. Hosts were very friendly. Dog walks in woods very close to apartment. Regular buses into Addenbrooks/Cambridge from the village. Good food at the Six Bells in the village but don’t be in a hurry as service is rather slow.

Great location.

Very easy to get to Cambridge using 'Park and Ride' and near lots of National Trust properties. Very easy to park at the property. Downside, as we anticipated from the photos, is that the property is very small with steep angled ceiling on the 1st floor giving limited area in which you can stand up straight. We did bang our heads a few times. Although there were 2 room fans, it was very hot, as only 1 window opens in the property. The shower and toilet downstairs under the stairs is also small.

Although in a perfect location for what we needed, the facilities were a little challenging.

The shower room downstairs was tiny. Very difficult to wash and dress in there. The other facilities were fine. Bed was comfy, sofas were comfy and the owners were very nice. The space for the dog to runaround in was beautiful and was a real pleasure to take advantage of.

The owners were very friendly, we fehlt very comfortable with them.

They gave us good tips and had many informations about the area. Also they had a nice library , a TV and a DVD Player. The bathroom was small but the kitchen was new and modern and we found everything in it we needed. The surroundings were very beautiful. We loved it.

Small and compact, in a great village location and close to many attractions. The owners were available if needed and very helpful.

Private and comfortable, and central to Fulbourn with walks for dog owners and their dogs! and Cambridge to explore only 20mins away. Surrounded by fields and good views through the dormers. The place was warm with underfloor heating despite frost mornings. The Coop nearby guaranteed supplies and a large Tesco only 10 minutes drive away enhanced choice. The kitchen had all you needed and the washing machine a really useful addition. The bathroom was clean and functional with shower and basin. The open living allowed a comfortable stay and there was plenty of seating, table and chairs, TV, and library divider if you didn’t bring your own books. Park and ride nearby because parking costs are horrendous in the central city. All in all a very relaxing and hassle free week was had at the Studio. Would book again. Elaine and Geoff were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome from arrival to departure. Thank you.

We had a good welcome and the property is in a lovely area and we greatly enjoyed the local walks.

We had good weather and ate outside most of the time. My husband, who is about 6ft , found the limited headroom upstairs a little awkward. The property was well appointed and furnished with all you needed.

Ideally sited for our visit with our dog.

He loved being able to walk in the woods of the nature reserve opposite the entrance each morning. The WiFi was a welcome facility which was not listed.

The Studio provided us with an excellent base for exploring the area of the Cambridge Fens and local towns / cities such as Cambridge , Ely , Bury St Edmunds and the smaller villages using mostly well marked paths across farmland and through nature reserves.

The studio is small but cosy with a comfortable bed and sofas. The upstairs lounge area and bedroom has sloping walls/ ceilings which for anyone who is taller than average could be an issue. Apart from that it had everything needed for a relaxing break. The local Co op and takeaways as well as 3 pubs in the village gave us plenty of choice for eating in the evenings after days spent exploring on foot or by car. I would recommend this property and would book again if we revisited the area.

This is a cute and cosy place to stay, and the hosts are fabulous.

You are right near a nature reserve - literally on your doorstep. I had two dogs, and it was winter, so we were muddy guests, but the host couldn't have been more accommodating. Fulbourn is a quintessential English village with so many beautiful walks and attractions on your doorstep. Plus, Cambridge City is only a quick drive or park and drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you so much!!

Excellent Cottage in an Excellent area for touring the local villages and Cambridge.

Supermarket a couple of miles away as well as a small local market in village. All facilities in cottage for home cooking. Friendly hosts who let you get on with your holiday.Ely,St ives and other visitor attraction easy to reach by car. The walk from Granchester Meadows into Cambridge is fantastic and takes about 40 mins.

Lovely clean apartment in a beautiful quiet location and within easy reach of local pubs and shops.

Very close to local nature walks with historical sites. We had a very relaxing stay.

The hosts at Horseshoe cottage are really welcoming provided lots of information on things and places to see, the cottage was as described and along with my wife and dog we had a fabulous stay and would not hesitate to return

Lovely accommodation in a fantastic location with friendly host.

Lovely place, beautiful surroundings, perfect for me and my pooch whilst we were attending a course, has everything you could need, great to make own meals, comfy bed and sofas, low sloping ceilings but wasn't a problem for me.

The most comfortable bed we have slept in away from home.

Don't normally sleep well when away but slept like a log here. Ideally placed for exploring Cambridgeshire - a very peaceful spot. Village shops and pubs very good too.

Studio was compact but very well stocked and comfortable with 2 big settees. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly (including the dogs) the box of chocs and great treat. We had a great stay and would recommend for couples looking to explore this part of England

Great quiet location off a country lane but only a short walk into the village with two dog friendly pubs for evening meals.

Nice country walks just down the lane. Nice cosy accommodation with everything you need along with friendly helpful owners.

The Studio was a great venue for our needs.

We were in the area visiting an elderly relative and so required a place for a few nights stay that was comfortable but also value for money. The studio was cosy, warm (we loved the under-floor heating) and well equipped. The owner Elaine was very friendly and helpful. The local nature reserve fenland area was perfect for walking our dog and the village of Fulbourn was in walking distance with handy shops and pubs. We would definitely book again.

Stayed whilst my wife was in Addenbrookes having major surgery.

The cottage is warm and comfortable and the owners are very friendly and helpful, thank-you Elaine and Geoff. There are many walks very near and the main routes are easily accessible for traveling around the Cambridgeshire attractions making it a perfect choice for holidays in this area.

The Studio is quite small & compact but the upstairs living area would not suit tall people!

It suited our needs and I loved the surroundings & gardens. It was perfect for our trip to Duxford air show and there are good walks at the end of the lane. We had a lovely peaceful week, the owners were very friendly & helpful and we would definitely return.

Elaine & Geoff great hosts and willing to help their guest strangers in paradise. Nature of the building must have presented design and renovation challenges , but these were well met. Loved our time there and would like to return.

Plenty of walking in the local area combined with pubs and a Co-op within a few minutes' walking distance. We enjoyed our stay and feel the studio represents good value for money.

Only toilet is 1.5 metres from cooker, behind sliding door that wouldn’t close, let alone lock. Sink in loo too small to wash face in. Equipment in kitchen cast-offs... odd glasses ( not all x2), one egg cup, one cup size battered cafetière etc. Weeds growing on patio. Location good, but never “ romantic “! Have 2 further bookings with Sykes in 2018. Hoping for so much better.......

We found the cottage to be very well equipped and very cosy and warm.

It was ideally located for trips into Cambridge and the surrounding area and is within walking distance of the local shops and pubs. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to our family and friends.

A little difficult to find--road signs not good , a bit more detail near to would help!
